Yep. TG now allows the mockball and usage of the Crystal Flash in small tunnels. Have fun being on the world records.
Thread title:
lol no way
Yeah have fun being on the world records! What an honor! The TwinGalaxies World Records!

Oh wait, TwinGalaxies? Never mind.
Hey, I just thought it would be helpful to know. Unless I'm mistaken, the main beef with TG has been because of the Mockball.
Well, we just have to wait until they allow the Zebetite skip, the 'Murder Beam,' clipping errors with Grapple/Ice beams, refill station pausing, the Green Gate Glitch, and the Kagoball. Then maybe one of the speed runs on this site will be accepted...
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
Yay!  Twingalaxies has the rod a bit further out of their asses!  Hopefully some day they'll pull it all the way out.

Hey, all they've done is seen the light. Now they just have to go toward it.......
let the game begins

no wait. too busy to do stuff at this game right now. Hope that nate or bulleta comes out of nowhere with their own TG records  Rolling Eyes
Why are so many people against Twin Galaxies?  I never really understood this.  I'm not meaning to start a flamewar or anything, I'm just curious.

Just a wild guess, but I think this is the example... they ban pretty much anything that even slightly resembeling a glitch.

long story...suffice to say they're self-righteous, self-important assholes with little more to do with their time than waste other people's. if you thought radix was cranky about glitches and other questionable things in runs...
I disagree. Twin Galaxies was and is a record-keeping organzation dominated by arcade gaming. This is what they were created for, so they've been taking a while to catch up, but they're catching up fast.

We have a relatively new SNES referee in master gamer Tom Votava, who listens to the gamers, and who has the foresight to allow techniques like the Mockball and the Crystal Flash. Quick-kill methods for bosses are also allowed. As a matter of fact, in a pure speed run or a 100% run, the only two kinds of runs tracked by TG, the only banned technique that will save you more than a few seconds is the Murder Beam, and banning something like that is quite understandable. I'm not 100% sure where Votava stands on other minor glitches, such as quick energy station refills, but I really don't care.

I'm not sure who at TG you're calling self-righteous, since it is really a collection of different people that has changed a lot recently, rather than a single entity.

As for a future SM TG record, I know I'm training for one, and I'm guessing others are as well.
good to hear from an insider (i assume?) that things, they are a'changing over there. unfortunately, i still have to question why you found it 'quite understandable' to ban the murder beam. i realize that there will be categorization/value statement problems (especially when someone uses the words 'intended' or 'spirit of the game') anytime a ref tries to lay down rules, but imo radix's rules are just a lot simpler and have gone very far (so far) without any major questions being raised. people around here have just had much better relations with radix than they have with tg (go tg never responding to kip when he slaughtered the old 1:46 any percent record in prime that was featured on tg itself), and it will take a while to change that (a very long while if radix stays ahead of the curve).
Yeah, you could call me an insider. Right now I have the TG records and fastest known legitimate times for Solstice and Super Mario World (one second faster than sdkess), and the TG record for Mega Man X, 100% completion, though I know of a few people on GameFAQs that have claimed to get lower than my time.

I understand your point about everyone's familiarity with Radix's rules, and I know Tom Votava is respecting that, But you'll never see Twin Galaxies allow something that can cause the game to crash or delete your saves when used incorrectly, and simply causes slowdown and mass graphical glitches when used correctly, such as the Murder Beam.

I know that Twin Galaxies will acknowledge other times, but for them to be officially recognized, you have to send in a copy of the run itself to the appropriate referee and have him/her verify it. I know they don't accept movies over the internet anymore, because they are ultra-cautious about preventing "faked" runs from getting in, and there are some very clever people out there who can do that. But to be honest, I can't really speak for the Gamecube referee. I don't even know who that is. I'm most familiar with the staff for the classic consoles and the handhelds on that site.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Good luck if you are going for the TG record for Super, LF.

Too bad they don't seem to like segmented vids, I would've maybe tried had they had these rules right after doing my :55.
Thank you, Scarlet.

I know there were a few games where segmented runs were allowed, but I forget which games those are. But for the most part now, you have to be single-segment. I think it was a decision made a long time ago. I forget where I saw it.

go tg never responding to kip

They did, but it was a few weeks (months? don't remember). The guy was just really busy, IIRC was the first time he was ever late to respond to something... so it doesn't really matter to me. It didn't annoy me at all, since things like that happen. I just changed my mind by that time.

I haven't dealt with TG otherwise, so I have no idea what they are like, and I'm not going to assume anything about them.
then I guess my :38 vid can fit somewhat into the rules of that referee, but I do not know if glitches such as the zebetite are allowed or any other one. Still though, I don't want to ruin the fun to anyone again (and I don't have time to do one anyway) so good luck to whatever thing you'll accomplish.
