Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
I think Mother Brain is a complete pushover regardless. Using the charged ice/wave/plasma is about as fast as using the murder beam. The real use is beating up Mother Brain during the Metroid cutscene without having to have 7 energy tanks to spare for the stand-up glitch.
Taking that viewpoint, the mockball also shouldn't be used (it's far easier to mockball on your first try than to get a perfect kill on Spore Spawn). Sure, a line should be drawn, but I don't think that's where to draw it.

I think he's drawing the line not based on speed, but "glitchiness", so to speak. As far as "glitchiness" goes, the Murder Beam is a lot more odious than the mockball, for reasons he mentioned. It's all relative. Which is the problem, really.

Depending on your experience with SM and your observantness, you may or may not realize that a mock ball is happening... basically, by running, jumping, and morphing at just the right moment, you can maintain the speed of running while in morphball form.

The murder beam is really obvious.

Effortless my ass, you still have to avoid getting hit by Mother Brain's stuff during the slowdown when you can barely even see Samus at all, or you'll be killed by her Hyper Beam (if you skip the energy refill like I do).

The damage being inflicted is most definitely effortless. It's staying alive that requires you to pay attention, though it's not as hard as it sounds when the game moves at the speed of molasses, even with the graphical glitches.

Try it sometime when if you get hit by a couple things, or just 1 of her fireball things and you're screwed.  It can be hard to avoid shots you can't always see when you ALSO have to basically guess where Samus is in trying to avoid it.

You're not Radix, so tough noogies, the murder beam stays.

In following up to the first post I explained exactly what TG has allowed and what they had banned, and why, then threw in my own opinion on it, because I do that every now and then. I'm not saying, "You can't use the murder beam," just expressing how lame of a tactic it is.

The topic creator got the ball rolling with this topic, and a couple people started things off with insinuations against Twin Galaxies, and naturally I responded. It snowballed into a whole bunch of other things, and currently we're on TSA sounding like a girl. >_>

I just don't see what is so lame about it, especially when all opposition against uses of it are on Mother Brain only.

It's a trick that saves maybe 15 seconds, doesn't let you skip any part of the game, but slows down the Mother Brain fight in real time.
So I don't see why it's getting a bad rap.  You can hit the fast forward button all you want..smokey and I should be the ones complaining.

I still think this is the issue... Scarlet is looking at it from a speed perspective, Lucid is looking at it from a "glitchiness" perspective.
