Chronicling the events of the original Metroid...
Twilight Falls
An unexpected return
to a planet she called home,
old emotions start to burn
and yet still chill her to the bone.
She stares with deep sadness
at all the dark changes before her
and then with a slight flicker of madness
an anger begins to stir.
She descends into the depths
deep down to a world of blue,
she moves quietly step after step
knowing what she has to do.
She continues to move
gathering items as she goes
throughout the land of blue
until she reaches one of gold.
In her path standing firm
a red door blocks her way
with her face set stern
she fires missles that neither miss nor stray.
Deeper and deeper she continues down
with no thoughts of doubt
and eventully realizes she has found
the giant lizard's hideout.
With a cry of rage
the lizard emerges with eyes a fiery red,
and there a great battle was waged
until the lizard finally laid dead.
But her mission is not over
and she continues on her quest
her thoughts quick and sober
with no worries of pain or rest.
She journeys to a place of ugly red
darkness echoing in her eyes,
ignoring all feelings of dread
on just her instincts she relies.
Enemies swarm before her
and try to push her back
she moves as a blurr
and counters with her own attack.
Leaving them dead in her wake
she continues on to the master chamber
with a single missle the door breaks
and she enters the room conscious of danger.
The winged dragon flys out of the dark
with its talons hard as steel,
it wants only to tear her apart,
hatred the single emotion it feels,
all meanings of time are gone
their worlds consist of just the moment
as the battle continues on and on
and both fight for their own atonement.
With a cry the dragon finally falls
and lies still without a sound,
and the hunter continues down the empty halls
her footsteps heavy on the barren ground.
Two statues rise,
a new path becomes clear,
with a beam of ice at her side
she sinks into the depths without fear.
Rings of pain track her motions
following her all around
but she thwarts all of evil's notions
until she hears an eerie sound.
A shreiking cry echoes forth
chilling her very soul,
her reasoning begins to distort
and panic begins to take hold.
Clearing her mind of all worried thoughts
she pushes fear aside,
aiming for a beam gun lock
with panic no longer in her eyes.
A freezing blast surrounds the creature
leaving it frozen in its path
then using her missile feature
she destroys it in a calm wrath.
Many more enemies she destroys
as she continues on
many tricks and tactics she employees
until all the flying creatures are gone.
In the heat of battle she continues through
removing all obstacles from her path
blasting through the feeding tubes
until she found her nemesis at last.
Dodging the rings of pain
with motions swift and fast
she attacks the giant brain
and shatters its jar of glass,
with a cry of anguish the creature dies
and in the distance explosions begin to sound,
horror flashs in her eyes
as chaotic mayhem happens all around.
From level to level she ascends
rising swiftly out of the night
watching with sorrow as the planet she defends
starts to crumple before her sight.
Exhausted and tired
she stumbles into her ship,
and the engines begin to fire
as tears from her eyes begin to slip.
Flying away quickly
leaving the fiery carnage behind,
feeling hurt and sickly
she does not realize she will return again in time.
Feeling alone and weary
and very much out of place
the future seems so bleary
in the cold depths of space...
