Totally new trick

With some ideas from GameCube04 to help simplify the 0% trick, we've stumbled upon a totally new variant of the Corollax trick. Instead of usually dropping down with a shine-spark and charging when you hit the ground, it's possible to do a vertical jump while still shine-sparking by letting go of forward very briefly (1-2 frames) before initiating the jump and pressing forward back down again along with jump. I dub this the GameCube04 trick (who would have thought that GameCube04 = 1/Corollax? Rolling Eyes

This should also apply to Zero Mission, though I'm too tired and don't have a good save game to test it on.

Now I should retire from Fusion once again... :?

My original thinking for this trick was to make the 0% missile skip easier by running from the opposite side and getting the speed boost, shoot the gate, then jump up to the first platform and charge the shine there. Unfortunately, it looks like you're running too fast so you can't make the jump, so this trick probably doesn't have any practical use anywhere in the game. Still cool though :D

How exact is the charge part when you land? I mean, this could make Ice Backwards easier... If you can do it easily on the GBA, that is...

This trick is rather difficult to do, so I doubt if it will make Ice missile backwards easier. The only difficult part about IMB besides pulling off the corollax trick is to get to the next room in time. Doing the 04 trick still requires the corollax trick, which is probably not worth the trouble.

Update, I cannot reproduce the trick in Zero Mission. It would have sped up many locations (the Energy Tank across the lava pit in Kraid was where I was testing it) but I can't do it :?. Alas, Fusion only :(.

W00t, a 100% speed trick involving the GC04 trick! I managed 2 methods, but both seems pretty tough (nowhere near as tough as 0% though so someone should attempt on the console!). Anyways, here they are:

Yes, but the reason you gave this time was almost immediately refuted. Suppose the Gravity Jump had just been discovered, and I said "I don't get what it could be used for... dumb Super." If somebody thought of using it to enter Lower Norfair less than a day later, I'd look a bit silly, wouldn't I? :)
