Hello. Many only know me as The Last Metroid -- a guy who posts a lot, used to use bold waaay too much, and is damn sexy (okay, maybe that's simply an opinion... but nonethless.) It turns out, I'm also quite good at Metroid Prime (if I say so myself.) For the past few weeks, I've been working on a normal/any speed run for upload on Metroid 2002. While I could, in theory, wait until it's complete to tell all of you about it, I simply can't keep my mouth zipped any longer. Thus, I'm going to fill you guys in on my current run's happenings.

Segment 1 -- Space Pirate Frigate

Ah, Segment 1 -- It's good fun. Sure, it contains a few boring morph/roll/unmorph rooms, but mostly, it stays interesting and not too frustrating. Not a lot happened too out of the ordinary in this segment. I did try Kip's ship-dsah outside, rather than morph-ball, and it seemed to work pretty well -- though it did take a few attempts to get perfect.

I can't do biohazard containment DBJ; Maybe I should practice it to a further extent, but my stratagy for getting to the room suffices for now. After bombing the door in the access room, I unmorph, switch to scan visor, jump back and left, and dash left off the monitor in front of me. While in middair, I turn left, and begin scanning the elevator panel. It works pretty well, but DBJ would definitely be faster.

I did a good job against parasite queen -- due mostly in part to some tips on rapid fire missiles from Mr. Selbon (in the past, I was simultaniously pressing A and Y -- which didn't work too well. Rolling from Y to A works much more efficiantly.)

I pulled a good escape. I am forced to stress how much I hate that one ledge in the first tunnel. I will now refer to the ledge as the pankcake ledge. Why? I dunno. Does it need a name? Realistically, not at all, but for me, yes. Err, yeah. Perfect double dash (Mario Kart, anyone?) across the Pirate fight room.

Ehh, that's pretty much it. 4:22:89. Yes. That is .01 second slower than Radix's time, which is the third best. Cry for me.

Segment 2: Early Space Jump

Ahh, early space jump, courtesy of DEVILBIT. Works damn well, in my highly important opinion. But yeah, those ESJ dashes are a bitch to pull off perfectly, so a faultless segment 2 is hard to do. I got it down after a few attempts however.

Segment 3: Tedium to the Max

Segment 3's boring. It's that simple. There's not a lot going on outside of item pick-ups, and a lot of morph/roll/unmorphs. Recently, however, I've been applying a lot of dash jumps to my seg3, so it's a little more interesting. Actually, there are a lot of room dashes in a row....

1.) Landing Site -- dash off the thing in front of Samus' ship to the door.
2.) Beetle Tunnel (Pardon my not knowing most of the room's names) -- dash off beetle towards door.
3.) Tallon Canyon -- Dash off zoomer towards door
4.) Ruins Enterance -- dash off pillar towards door.
5.) Main Plaza -- dash off information panel towards missile expansion.
6.) Ruined Shrine -- dash off blue thing towards morph ball.

Phew. I made  a list. That's a lot of dashes, and that's not even all of them in segment 3. Crazy.

In the end, I get to GH with a game time of

As of now, I'm actually done with segment 4 -- but I have to go to bed, so commentary for that will come tomorrow. 'Laters, people.

Cool, I'm working on one too...kinda...well, I'm winging it and not going for a good time or anything cause, frankly, I suck. Prime is my best Metroid game, yet I still suck, old school yo. I am good at Zelda though...
I got pretty close to 4 minutes for the Frigate.  Anywho, good luck!
