Hello. I am new to this board and was blown away by these times you guys have posted. My best time with 100% is somewhere close to 2:11. I was wanting to know if you guys have any tips on making a faster time, maybe on how to pick up expansions early? I'm trying to get a 100% under 2 hrs file saved.
Don't get me wrong, here. I am familiar with the Metroid series. Loved the first one to death when I first played it even though I kept on dying (was 7 yrs old when it came out). I played Super to death and actually have a 100% file saved at 1:44 so all I have to do is is go to Tourain and kill Mother brain (that file took a while to make).
So if you guys could, please give me some tips, keep in mind I cannot view the pages with clips on how to get the early missile expansions, cuz I have an old computer and cannot run Quicktime.
I have tried the Gamefaqs board, but nobody there seems to want to help.
Thanx in advance.
Thread title:
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
I'm not a Fusion expert or anything, but in my experience for a 100% run there's not a lot of room for innovation. You've pretty much got a set path to follow thanks to the design of the game, so really you need to concentrate on just manuvering as fast as you can. Shinesparking and wall jumping wherever possible is highly encouraged. If you can download the emulator movies of Sess's 1% run, it would definately be a great help (although right now it's unfinished).
Speaking of which... the conclusion to that run is highly anticipated.  As if I needed to say it.

Anybody know how that's going?  Sess?
Not impossible

Sess was giving it a break for a while, but he's back on it now... unfortunately, the next section has a whole assload of random elements to it, so it could be awhile before he gets it just right.
Ok, I understand that this game is pretty straightforward and that there is little room for error or sequence breaking. Could someone at least tell me which missile expansions you're able to get early and how?
lol no way
Well, here's something I found out on my last speed run:
In PYR, after the Box battle, don't get the missile tank in the cieling of the next room. Instead, just run left, and shinespark left in the next room to get the energy tank faster. You can get that missile when you enter PYR from SRX at the end.
Well, I did it. I finally got 100% in under 2 hours. I did it in 1:53. My first speed run was 2:11. I don't know exactly what I did any different other than saving a couple of expansions until later in the run, but it worked. I didn't use the SRX to PYR shortcut that was pointed out, though.
I just thought I'd let you guys know.
you should really talk to daveb.
Metroid Fusion? More like Fetroid Musion! Don't listen to me.
lol no way
Heh. Yeah, DaveB and Sess are gods at this game.

Uh....what?
My current record is 1:42 with 100% items. Best advice I can give is this - If you can get an item without the requried equipment - GET IT!

Some items you're supposed to use Space Jump for. But some can be gotten with wall jump and shinesparking. So do that instead.

Try and cut down the amount of revisiting you do. Get near everything in an area in one fell swoop.
man.

daveb really needs to get a gbp.
Funny you should say that.

I ordered a gbp a few weeks ago, and it should have arrived a few weeks ago.

I wouldn't be suprised if my import copy of Zero Mission arrives before it does.
What exactly is a GBP?
GameBoy Player :D
Ah. I have a GB SP so I just use it.
And how would YOU record that then?
I don't :P
