that's neat. i need to watch one of these runs to know what to do once i tackle 100% (now that i got a Wii U, i can use Wii mode to play mp3 properly for a PR since my Wii won't play the game properly from disc)
gogogogo! 100% is far more interesting than any% imo (at least RTA, aka no bryyo skip)!

Uchiha, does the Wii U load rooms any faster or is it exactly the same since it's just a Wii emulator?

i haven't tried it yet. sorry.

i'll give it a shot soon but i can't compare since my Wii doesn't read mp3 properly.

So I found out that I still have my twitch recordings for my 100% mp3 record back in november, which is 3:27 in-game time.

It's MUCH better than my 3:30!
I predict an incoming 17% run

coughwhereareyoumchazardcough
Uh, no. I am not going to speedrun 17%.

(By the way, the low% is now 17%.)

Hey, cool! We were really damn close to ship missiles and hyper grapple, so is it one of those?
Unfortunately no. Tried it, but couldn't find a way through the hyper grapple blob either.

The new skip is the energy cell in Command Courtyard. What you do is you use an invisible ledge in the room to SBSJ and screw attack over the energy shield. There's enough safe spots that you can do it without the Hazard Shield. (Note that you have to aim for the center of the energy shield. If you're too close to the sides, you'll land on... something, and still be exposed to the acid rain.)

After that, you can't go to Defense Access, because the secret world there can't be entered unless you reload the room. Which you can't do without grapple voltage or spider ball. However, the area right next to the Skyway Access gate is safe, as is the top of it (you can see the arm cannon doesn't have the Hazard Shield effect when you're on top of the gate). Under the floor is also safe. So you can exit there and wallcrawl to X-Ray without the energy cell.

After that, you have to do the Docking Bay 5 secret world twice to get through the Valhalla. If you don't use the 1 energy cell you have on the elevator, you can't get back to the ship after getting the code. The other two doors work from the back though.

Nice. Having 2 required energy cells was always a pain, so that's awesome work.

I didn't know about the Defense Access hole being blocked, but I knew about getting in the Skyway Access secret world without hazard shield since I used that to try to get the Transit Station Leviathan landing site activated without ship missiles. I was able to get it to appear on the map, but if you fly there, you're just abruptly teleported way outside of the map in the acid rain without a cutscene, and you still can't access the seed.
So wait, this new skip involves going over the energy shield in Command Courtyard, which is what we tried to do in the first place before discovering the original Hazard Shield skip? That's awesome.
By the way, how difficult is the skyway access secret world? It doesn't seem as ridiculously difficult as any of the SWs in elysia, but looks can be deceiving... :S

Yeah, those sure are some tough Elysia SW's :P.

I never found Skyway Access to be really hard. The screw attack up to the slide is a bit harder than the video might seem since there's a ghetto off the back wall involved, and ghetto's in this game are annoying, but once you get up there, it's easy to bomb out; the timing's pretty simple. Certainly easier than the 18% secret worlds. I've never even really attempted the Main Docking Bay secret world, that thing looks ridiculous.
Hm I should try out skyway access if I ever get back into speedrunning 100% seriously (idk when that'll happen), because wallcrawling past the demolition squad sequence will definitely save time if the wallcrawl is optimized (because you have hazard shield anyways).

So uh, any video of the new Command Courtyard trick?
Any video of 17% run in general?? I got really into 18% once paraxade found the elysia early sw's but to see it drop another percent is awesome. Low% rocks

Thanks! Lol

Yeah, this is pretty representative of metroid's sequence breaking community at this point.

That isn't 17%

meanwhile I know you've been looking for some interesting things (like that ghetto jump in elysia for a quick ship missile tank :O). I think I'll spend some time this week hunting for mp3 tricks and/or messing with wallcrawling... As much as I like mp1 and mp2 more, I think there's a lot of stuff we can find to make mp3 100% more interesting and fun.

before i forget, i'm gonna post this here

4:19 Hypermode 38%

this is the first time i beat hypermode in a non-100% run (after 6 years of having the game lol). i used to do 100% only because i really needed all the energy i could have for the final bosses. today i found out i don't need all the tanks but i still need several of them.

i still need more training before i can sub 3 hours in normal but at least now i could do the SSJ to get to the top of the observatory in few tries and also the thorn jungle turret skip in few tries.
