Thanks Prime Hunter.

When I enter gen chamber, I kill the metroids (4 uncharged shots) if they're bothering me, grapple off the womb's shell, and shoot charged shots at the Leviathan when it's not behind the veins and I have a clear shot. It takes at least 6 fully charged shots though. I'm pretty sure I'm hitting with the entire shot as well. I'm going to try uncharged shots, it feels like its taking way too long.

Quote from Prime Hunter:
Edit: You're talking about the room right before Dark Samus right? I tend to kill the metroids and then use the charged up Hyperbeam (The "chaingun" attack) a few times while aiming directly at the larva inside of the leviathan.

It sounds like you're explaining this to someone who doesn't know how to play the game, heh.
Just wanted to make sure the term I used was understood properly.  laugh new Besides, you wanted to know how others handled the room, so I told you specifically what I tend to do when I'm there.

You only attack it when it's being the veins you say? I don't remember holding back my attacks whenever I'm there, and I could've sworn it doesn't take as long as you suggest. Are you fully charging the beam and then pouring nearly every shot into the larva? (I'd expect this, but again I want to be clear about it - Just remember it's been a while since I've played this now so some of the fine details are a little off)

Yeah, fully charged shots. It flashes red and twitches too. I'm not sure if it's possible to shoot it through the veins, but I assume that I don't have a clear shot when it's not visible. I have to switch sides multiple times as well. It just feels too slow.

Anywhere that I can see a normal mode speedrun? Might help.

It seems so empty here. Where is everyone?

EDIT: Gaah, I've been trying this again and again and again and again, and I finally got everything perfectly, but the best time I could get was 3:39. Could you update the wiki please Prime Hunter? It's a pity we don't see how many seconds our final times are...
All set: According to the list you and MASTER-88 are actually tied for second on the low% normal category now.

Part of the reason that people aren't playing Corruption as much it seems is because we can't find anything new due to Retro's attempts to stop us with regards to Sequence Breaks and Speed Tricks. Last time I was really playing the game was last summer when I did a 22% Hypermode run. Since then I've been in my last year of college so I haven't had as much time to devote to not only games in general, but Metroid as a whole. I'm hoping once I graduate in May I can get back into the series a bit more, but until then I don't have much of a chance to do so.

As for everyone else, I have no idea, but I'd assume there are similar reasons all around.
...
I actually would be happy to record a few Corruption runs, but the lack of a DVD recorder doesn't really go over well with SDA's rules.  However, if I am able to get one anytime soon, you'll definitely be seeing a run from me.
Have you done any runs in the past?
...
Oh, I've done plenty of runs before, just none recorded.  I am not kip, Radix, DJGrenola, or Paraxade, but I could still try to see what the best time I can do is.  Practice makes perfect, people!

Actually, it is very likely I will record a run of this game eventually, before the year's end if I can.  I'll just have to look into getting some decent recording equipment.  Also, Alpha/Omega, if you plan on recording an official run, you may want to read the Official SDA Rules For Submission.  But I'm glad to see that there are plenty of people trying to finally make a recorded speed run of Corruption.
Thanks Phazar.

Hey, are there any other ways I can record off the wii? Maybe if I connect my tv to my computer?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There is WiiCR, which captures video from the Wii onto your computer via WiFi (I think), but it is still very beta and not updated very frequently.
...
That sounds like a cool way to record MP3 runs.  I might try it once it is a bit more improved, if you say that it is still in beta stages.
I don't like that abbreviation of Prime 3.  It makes me think of the music file type.

i completed mp3 in the trilogy.

9:01 veteran 100% scans and items.

first time i do a whole run and get all scans.

edit:

lol no one has posted so i'll have to edit in my new time.

6:11 hypermode 100% items.

the route was a natural route since the only SB i could pull off in the old mp3 was blocked. the only boss where i died was Omega Ridley since it is hard to abuse hypermode against him. the game didn't seem as hard as the last time i played it in hypermode. this is also my new best 100% time i think.

edit 2: shit, people don't really play this thing anymore...

3:16 normal 42%

this was a lot better than what i used to do on the original mp3 version. playing it a lot made me memorize the route much better and i gained like 24 minutes on my old best time. i had good boss battles overall also.
i bet i could sub 3 hours in the original mp3 now if i use most of the speed tricks i've never used yet but i'll do that later since i'm a bit tired for now.
trilogy edition, 55%, normal difficulty, 7:29.
the metroid is a lie !

overall i liked corruption but aesthetically it has nothing on prime, controls make a nice change though.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Wrapped this one up in 16:53 100%. I know I spent less time just screwing around in this one than I did the previous two, but that's still quite a bit faster than the 23 -24 hours those took me on the first run. Short game.

I finally got around to beating this game thanks to a friend of mine who gave me his Wii. First playthrough in Veteran in 9:23.

The only part of the game I really liked was Elysia. Other than that.. :( I think I'm just going to play through MP1 again.

continuing with the warm-up for Other M, i beat mp3 today.

3:41 36% veteran

i didn't really try hard enough here since i wanted to just beat the game. the save already had a playthough started and had the first 5 minutes done and i didn't want to erase the file so i kept going with veteran even though it took longer. i used some SBs from paraxade's speed run and other old ones. i also picked up a few missing gold tokens since this was on the original mp3 and i found out i hadn't got all tokens yet (i did get them all in the trilogy first)

edit: fun fact i remembered later: this was the very first time i skipped the hazard shield. i didn't even need to check the site to do it properly.
I finally beat MP3 in Hypermode... I have to say the ending of this game was very difficult. I played it through as intended (haven't practiced any tricks yet) with 100% items and some scans (mainly pirate and satellite data) and a time of 11:12 (Wii Version).

My thoughts -- I saw earlier where UchihaSasuke commented on how much of a cheat the end is. I agree.

In fighting Dark Samus (DS), I seem to find that to constantly stun him with missiles and some rapid shots for the entire time before he splits in 2 can result in little or no damage to Samus (most of the time). After he splits in 2, then 3, it can be interesting. One thing to avoid at all costs is to be rammed by DS as he (or they) move at rapid speed.

No matter how well you are doing against the Aurora Unit (head attached), getting zapped by the purple sweeping beam almost guarantees a defeat - certainly getting hit by this beam twice is a sure death or quickly leads to it. I found that when the 3 DSs come out of the head, I can destroy all 3 early on but after a few times one or 2, then only 1... to avoid the purple bowling bowls I screw attack around the arena because I almost always get hit in trying to blast them.

Once the head is detached, I found 2 things of interest:
#1) for the missile launcher (?) that drops out of the head's chin, it takes 2 dead on missile hits from Samus to stun the head. I found this difficult to do in the short time available.
#2) when the head is spinning (and roaming) on the ground, if you screw attack and hit the head, it becomes stunned and Samus can do damage to it.

I should mention the fight against Mogenar was just plain silly - this is my least favorite boss of all 3 Prime games.

Protecting the 12 Federation Officers in reaching those blast doors is some of the best fighting of any game - this and the Red Phazon Pirate fight are one of the highlights of the game.

I've read elsewhere that some players gave up in MP when they encountered Omega Pirate and in MP2, the Boost Guardian. They are hard to beat, especially on hard mode. What make MP3 harder is to fight the last 3 bosses back-to-back.

Apart from Mogenar, I really like the game and the gameplay.
I just got the word that Metroid - Other M was shipped out to me so I will be looking to try something new for a while.

Yoshi is back
My time was 14 minutes and I forget my % rate. How do you get Veteran? I have Hypermode so I'm guessing I need to beat that?
you beat the game in 14 minutes?
Veteran should be unlocked from the start.
