I thought I died when I got the Morph Ball, since I had never played a Metroid; Zero Mission, nor Super Metroid. Then I learned that you EXPLODE when you die. Rolling Eyes

Oooh, and don't forget the Pac-Man sound effects! I SWEAR they ripped it straight from Mrs. Pac-Man, heh.
I played it first in prime, but had it all spoiled by a stupid player's guide that I couldn't summon up the self-control to ignore. I still play it in ZM though, as it's much more "pick up and play" than any of the others.

NAR password helps, too...  Embarassed

Well I played Metroid on the NES first when I was about 5, good memories.
I originally played it on FCE Ultra (emulation) and found it to be fun. I then beat Prime, bought an SP and Fusion and beat that and linked the two to get NES Metroid on it. Didn't get far though.

It was only until I saw other people being so smug about beating it that I wanted to beat it to also be smug.

So I booted up Zero Mission, played the original metroid and beat it soon after.

And on that note, today was my first single segment Metroid run. Hurrah.
I played it first on the NES. Being the sucker as I was back then, I just played it for 5 minutes then quit. I then Went on emulator to get a password to beat the game, and did. It wasn't until Prime hit when I actually went through the game and beat it without looking for a password.
I had Metroid on the NES when I was about 6 years old. :)  :P  :D
I only played it via Zero mission bonus....
Is it just me or does Samus look fat at the GBA verion of metroid? :?
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
She's scrunched because the entire screen had to be scrunched to fit the GBA resolution.  Though I didn't think she looked that fat.
Original Metroid is more fun via Metroid Prime!!!! :)
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
I hate the button layout for the original on MP.  What dumbass came up with the idea for A to shoot and B to jump when it's the other way around in the actual game?  Stupidly making me use X and A instead of A and B. :x
red chamber dream
That's why I never like the remakes or ports, like in Prime. They try to screw with the game to make it "better," but everyone ends up liking the original way more. I'll just stick to my NES version, which still works.

But... on the original NES, weren't the A and B buttons backwards from what they are now? Making them either follow the names or follow the positions? I don't remember...

Well, if this helps, the MZM Classic Metroid buttons still have "A" to jump, and "B" to shoot. Exclamation

Nope.  A was on the right, B was on the left, just like it is now.
