no, it's not an abnormal childhood at all in the sense that trauma like that happens to a lot of kids. all i'm saying is it's a proven fact that people who have gender identity issues (whether you want to consider them good, bad, problematic, or not problematic) or otherwise get involved in practically anything sexually deviant (from the norm) had trauma in their lives as kids. and in fact the trauma, combined with genetics, is what causes it.

of course, it's not a sure thing, which is why there aren't millions of drag queens out there. people develop different sorts of behaviors due to trauma (anxiety, attachment problems, etc), and it's not uncommon at all.

Sounds like someone has been watching Fox News. FYI - homosexuality (outside your 'norm') was removed from the list of psychiatric disorders years ago and science contends that it is a normal behavior. The cause is hotly debated and is nowhere near being known or proven.
As for gender-identity disorder, there is no known cause for it. Also, the overwhelming majority of drag queens do NOT have gender identity issues and are quite happy that they're males.

But when you say that being traumatized is proven to be a causing factor, it's hard to see how you agree with what I'm saying.
To me, when you point out that someone must have been traumatized you are saying that they must be damaged goods, and damaged things don't function properly.

all i'm saying is that when someone acts out sexually (including becoming a drag queen, even though you might not agree that has anything to do with sex (it does)) there's almost always some sort of trauma involved

and yes, when a person was traumatized as a kid their brain chemistry literally changes, making them not behave normally. i guess some people might call that "damaged goods", but it's more just the way things are. it's not a bad or good thing per se, but it can make people more prone to join a counterculture, become addicted to something, have trouble functioning socially etc.

I disagree that there's a link between homosexuality and/or gender-bending and psychological trauma. This feeds into the idea that those people came from 'bad families' and the all-too-familiar yet erroneous 'Where did we go wrong' thing that parents go through. I'm glad you think there's a link, science does not.

I think you're thinking of the link between ABUSE and HARMFUL behaviors like pedophilia and sexual-sadism.

I agree that it's more complicated. If it's purely genetic, then why are there identical twins where one is gay and one isn't? The latest intriguing findings have to do with hormonal conditions in the womb, and how it tends to vary when a woman is carrying a male fetus that is not the first.

In cultures where gender-norms weren't so violently enforced, there are straight males who dress like women for entertainment. I think the biggest reason why all drag queens are gay is because it's far more accepted (albeit taboo in any sense) for a gay man to do it in the first place.

maybe it is just an occupation. i don't know of any bigtime transvestites who only dress up for a show though. there's a difference between that and, say, a male cabaret dancer dressing as a female to play a part.

i just don't get how anyone could not like tosh.0. hilarious internet videos with hilarious off-color commentary. daniel tosh is one of the funniest comedians out there today. good timing, good facial expressions, will say anything for a laugh, self-deprecating.

guess you could say he's a smarmy asshole or something, but that doesn't make him any less hilarious. ;)
