I'm kind of on the fence about Hyrule Warriors.

Has anyone expanded their wii-u memory yet?  Nintendo recommends several external 1TB hard drives, all with their own power source, but the price tag is pretty hefty.  Flash drives can be used, but they're not meant to be used like a HD so they will end up failing eventually.  Has anyone tried using a HD that does NOT have an external power source?
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
You can use any HDD technically, but because the Wii U only has USB 2.0 it can't draw power and transfer information at the same time, so you need a y-splitter to plug it into two USB slots at the same time. Some have it built in but otherwise you can get an adapter.
So I can take my external HD which has no external power source and use a Y-USB cord to plug into both slots on the wiiu, and one will draw power while the other one moves data?

this doesn't have to do with usb 2.0, it has to do with powered usb ports vs unpowered ports. a 2.0 port can be either.

My bad. :p

Yeah Opium that should work.
