And the source of my frustration. I got tired of trying, so I decided to vent by making this:

All the reasons for restarts. That's from a 2 hour session, and not even 1% of the restarts (notice how many times each section is played to get an idea of just how much I hate it :x ).
Thread title:
yikes ... i should make something similar for what i'm working on right now. think this might be pretty educational for people who have never tried true speed running before.
.mov !?
No DivX
Quote:
DivX 5 does not support Mac OS X 10.4 or QuickTime 7. We are working with Apple to resolve several compatibility issues

funny, works fine for me ... except for the whole browser plugin thing. that fails 99% of the time.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
That was great, carl.
I have the old DivX 5 codec installed, and I can export to divx w/ mp3 support, but it always comes out out of sync. I haven't figured out whether it's due to playback or encoding yet, and I'm not sure by how much I need to correct for it, and how I'd go about doing it correctly.

It's just confusing right now. I'm tempted to just encode everything in H.264 and say screw .avi's.  :P
no, don't bother. everyone who visits this site should have quicktime installed. it's their problem if they don't.
so you're saying encode to h.264? goodie!!!

high-quality for all with a brain!
h264 is still too new too start using it at sda ... so we're sticking to divx. When it matures we can look into it, but i've heard it uses even mroe CPU than divx which isn't good for low/normal quality. I can barely watch them as it is in my old 450 mhz.
well then, here goes nothing... *encodes with audio set to a 5 frame delay*
was referring to just this site, yeah. sda is much, much less "exclusive," "underground," whatever you want to call it, so no quicktime required.

edit: thought you might find this interesting. be sure to read all the reader comments on the first page.

Ready and willing.
Personally I call it "requiring embedded movies". Given that the other two formats that can do that are considered the tools of SATAN HIMSELF...
yeah, that too.
