I always cram way too many icons and shortcuts onto my desktop. Maybe I should clean it up a little.

Here's an "updated" picture. Not that it's much different from the one I already posted. Although this one is at least a little more interesting.

Going to try the attach feature now, first time I ever use it on a message board.

Wow... people like you are why XP messes with your shortcuts while you're not looking. Although I'll readily admit I have four or five things on my desktop I shouldn't have, a lot of it isn't actually shortcuts but random text files I used as notes.

I just realized I should only have 6 icons on my desktop, when I actually have 14. Of course, 2 of those are My Documents and My Network Places, and I'm too lazy to find out if there's a way to turn off those. (I know how to do it in XP, tho.)

Anyway, you really need to sit back and see which of those you actually use on a semi-regular basis.
I guess I'll be nice to the 56kers out there....

This is my desktop.  I don't like having icons on it and cluttering up my backgrounds.  All the icons I need are in my quick launch.  I used StyleXP to get the Mac OSX skin thing on, and I like it because it's aesthetically pleasing to me.  Style XP also rotates my backgrounds every time I log in, so I always have a new one.

This is on a laptop with a 16:10 aspect ratio screen.  I have it set at 1680x1050, so I shrunk the image down.

...That's a seriously messy Quick Launch Bar.
It's actually very organized.  Firefox, then general applications, FPS's, Strategy, then the... stuff I didn't want at the front.  Better than when I had everything on the desktop. >.<

Meh, I still prefer icons.

Actually, it's a good idea to make more use of your quick launch bar.

No, it really all depends on what you personally prefer.
I use both. Icons on the desktop for things I use semi-regularly, and quicklaunch for things I run all the time.
Now that I'm home, I think I'll post what my mom's computer looks like.

OMFG.

Clean that desktop NOW. Or I'll ban you.
This is why people should not download things to their desktop.

But barely any of those are actually files. They're nearly all shortcuts that most programs put on the desktop when they install (although they give you a little checkbox usually).

EDIT: I just noticed that there's a Unused Desktop Icons folder too... unless Windows didn't do that recently, I'd hate to think what's in that folder...
meh. if you jack your resolution up high enough, any number of icons seems inconsequential.

Yeah, but then your eyes burn into little tiny pancakes.

Windows has smaller UI elements than OS X, anyway.
Nice desktop nate.  Where'd you get it, I wanna throw it into my mix.
Hey Nate, is there an OS X Virtualdub port ? I'm stuck doing my encodes using mplayer scripts on UNIXalike operating systems (although once you've got them set up they do work very well.)
if only there were.

and as for the background, it's here.
Blast you and your OSX only crap.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
What's up with Nate's sig...?

It was only 3M higher than January.
I usually make my own, but this one was fitting of both the season and my mood at the time.

Spare me the AOL crap.  It's what my parents use, and I don't have to pay for it, so I deal.

I change my desktop often (used to just let webshots do it for me, but never installed it onto this computer), so I'm sure I'll post another one sooner or later.  Next time will probably be one I made myself.

Note to self: Install PSP 9 soon...
AOL sucks.

And that's kinda sexy, in a sad, depressed way.
