I've been working on a way to skip the Hive mecha. I've found a way to do it in the GC version by using hidden ledges on the wall left of the bridge but I can't do it in the Wii version because you can't jump nearly as far. I've come very close so it's probably possible and I really hope it is because the fight takes a couple of minutes.

Well, another segment well done. I wonder what your final time will be.

What about Wave w/o SJ?
It's a shame they killed those beloved tricks that made this game exceptional.
red chamber dream
would wave without sj even be faster? you'll need to get sj anyway to complete the game, and it would make rooms like chozo ice temple faster.

Yes, but you'd have to go all the way back to tallon to get it and then back to phendrana to get wave.

On another topic, it seems I can't get super missiles after taking thermal visor. The scan point nessecary in that room won't be activated. Is it thermal's fault? It seems like I'm stuck.

I'm not sure but I think it is.
Taking thermal causes a power disrupt, which means the scan post is unpowered.

that's an old glitch.
the work around was scan dashes/combat dashes but those don't work here so you're stuck unfortunately.
once, i screwed up a 100% scans file because of that room and had to restart.

They've been very pretentious in removing all wonderful tweaks, but fixing that fatal bug was probably not that interesting.
Before they do a remake like this, they should overlook ALL bugs. It seems that we fans know more about this game than they do.
Is it obvious I'm pissed off? =) I'm just dissapointed, that's all, and I guess I'm not alone about that.
Is early ice beam still there intentionally or did they just miss that?

EDIT: Is it impossible now to take X-ray without spider?
If you watch the run I'm doing now you can see all thats still possible now. Early Ice Beam and x-ray without spiderball can still be done.

So for this thermal visor glitch you have to do some sort of sequence break right?

Ok, I didn't really try that hard, just a couple of times. but it's good it's still possible.
Yes, with early ice this situation can occur.

Btw, I saw your artifact without gravity suit video. Another way to do it, great!
But I thought it was hard to do it that way so I found another way:

And about early SJ, is it written in stone that the old fashion bomb method is undoable? Because I'm so painfully close!
Good one, this will help in a speedrun if its easier.
Thanks again arva for the easier no gravity trick. In this segment all the hard tricks were very well done but I messed up some easy rooms, just a few seconds though.

part 1

part 2

The first PB on Thardus is supposed to destroy 2 weak spots at once. I wonder why it didn't.
You don't take icespreader ?

How is it about the debate on early SJ? Are there any options left with hope? I've been trying the bomb trick and it seems to me that can be done, due to spring ball I sense.
I might have screwed up the thardus fight or it can't be done. As for sjf, I hope it can be done, good luck with trying. When the game releases in the us more people can try it so maybe eventually someone can figure it out.
I do think early space jump is possible but it's going to be a lot harder than in the GC version. I tried for a long time in the Wii version and then when I switched to the GC version, I was able to do it four times. I've come close in the Wii version but you don't seem to move as far.

I've tried dbj off a small rock underneath the ledge you would dash to and I have come very close. In the GC version, I would just UBJ and would make it no problem but I still come close with a dbj. It's really hard but the unmorph will sometimes carry you up the slant of the ledge and you almost make it. It takes a really well timed dbj + unmorph for this to happen but you come really close.

Yeah, once the game releases in North America i'm sure someone will discover a way.
Well, the really quick way of killing flaahgra is still possible even without space jump. It's harder to pull off in this version because you don't jump as far but it's not to hard. Stand beside the tentacle on land and then jump as far out as possible. Land on the side of the tunnel and immediately morph into morph ball. You should be carried all the way down the tunnel right to where you would place your bombs. The tentacle will then knock you off the tunnel and the bombs will explode. This techinique is quite risky because i'm pretty sure toxic water does more damage in this version and you'll lose a good portion of your life if you fall. So, no more solar panel flipping.

How do I apply the english patch? Can it be done if the iso is IOS249 patched?
Nevermind.
Nice find on the flaahgra trick T3, I tried it but couldn't get it to work. Its hard to do so maybe we should only use it in the last round.

I finaly found enough motivation to do another segment of the test run:

The flaahgra trick was hard at first but once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to do it every time. I suggest practicing in the GC version first, I find it easier. Infact, I discovered the trick in the GC version when trying a "natural route" speed run. I found it to slow flipping the solar panels so I tried other things eventually leading to the trick. The trick would definately be used in the next natural route speed run and would probably save a minute or so.

As for your test speed run, it's looking really well. I'm happy you continued with it. Why didn't you finish off the last ghost with a super missile?

it looks like maybe he ran out of missiles so he couldn't super missile it.
ONE MONTH AND COUNTING !!
You're right, I had another super missile. I thought I went in with 15 but off course the missile expansion in live grove tunnel adds 5 missiles Embarassed

Very good segments.
LOL at scanning the elevator post twice (seg15 2:38). I usually do this one too.
