I'm pretty sure he's implying that it can't be too hard to increase the limit since there's already people over the limit. I was thinking the same thing.
i understood him fine. he and you don't know how taiga forum works however and therefore don't understand why increasing the personal text limit is easier said than done. i definitely agree that the limit should be much greater but it's not high enough priority atm for me to put a lot of time into it right now.

So tell us.
What would be the point? Unless there are people hanging around who want to go through all the trouble to make it work, saying anymore than, "It's gonna be a pain, so hang on until we've got the bigger issues out of the way." doesn't seem very useful. He could be using that time to fix it so you'd have nothing more to complain about! Or anime. Probably anime, but you never know!
yeah actually i've found that bitching in public sometimes causes other people to solve problems for you. cathartic and productive.
i considered this but decided against it. more or less for the reasons tbob mentioned - just doesn't seem worth the time in this specific case. also because i don't see how an easy solution is possible. basically i'm going to have to devise a good line break inserting algorithm ... or use a table.
at any rate poision envy, you can see for yourself what the problem is: set your personal text to "MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM" and check out one of your posts.
no, that's not the reason. the reason is because it's a long word, and words don't get broken up automatically. all the old smf p.texts look fine though because they don't contain words that long. so if i upped the limit, 99% of personal texts would look perfectly fine, but some asshole might come along and put MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM as their personal text and make taiga forum look bad, which is unacceptable.
Can you implement a character-per-line limit? Might be annoying when you get a word cut off and have to rejig the thing but seems like the simplest solution to me.
what tooz said is similar to the solution we're going to try to implement soon. thing is, neither of us realized it was possible until very recently (ie today). so stay tuned.
