biased media can change over time. maybe they didn't give OoT a 10 just to be cool.

i'll wait until more significant sites rate it.

...

um, who am i kidding? i'll buy the game no matter what ratings it gets. over the years i've noticed that reviewers complain about stuff i actually like in some games.
example: the media is blasting mario party 8 like crazy and imo it is far from being the worst of the series. seems these journalists never played mario party 3 or 4.

NP's actually a pretty reliable source for reviews, you just have to scale down all ratings for Nintendo games by a point or so. That being said, who knows if that image is even real or not? I'd like to actually read the review.

It's real. I saw a scan of the full review, but it has since been deleted. lol illegal.

EDIT: Full review picture in first post.
I... seriously doubt the other review sites will give it such a good score.

Still, it's a good sign.

Why not?  IGN loved it from what they played, after all, so a good score from them sounds likely as well...
IGN usually only gives a game a 10 when they are obligated to by the media, or if EVERY aspect of the game is a perfect 10. This includes graphics, sound, and so on- I doubt the graphics will receive a ten, and in my opinion, the sound is underwhelming so far. I'm anticipating a 9.9 or a 9.8.

IGN seems to inflate everything, too. Hunters was awesome, but no way it's a 9. And no way is MPP and 8, no matter how you slice it. It's pinball.

dude

pinball is awesome

the end

:p
Almost happy
When I first read that Nintendo Power gave it a 10 I thought meh. But now as it seems that they gave neither OoT TP nor MP1 a 10 I'm more impressed. However I still rely mostly on IGN and Gamereactor (swedish site).
IGN gives it 9.5/10

so much for perfect controls huh?

i only checked the score section because i want to avoid spoilers.
Quote from NaYoN:

This guy is full of it. Some of the comments I disliked was:

"There are a couple of minor quibbles that keep Prime 3 from a higher score. The first and most obvious is that the game is a sequel and thus inherently feels familiar"

The comment that really annoyed was this: "Also, as you explore the world, you will occasionally encounter doorways that take longer than they should to open, as they are loading the next area."

From a user (IGN) who wrote this: "I absolutely do find the rating inappropriate and not because I'm a FanBoy and I wish it just had scored higher. But! Metroid Prime 2:Echoes scored 9.5, the same as Corruption and I absolutely do think it's unfair to rate both games at the same score."

i actually expected that kind of complaints from him. going to IGN for 10 years has helped for something.
Wait... did I see that correctly? THREE difficulty levels? (Normal, Veteran, and Hyper?)

And there's not really anything in the review we haven't seen in the previews before, that I can think of, besides the name of the beam that goes through walls.:
NOVA BEAM
Just don't watch the video review, because the site says that it doesn't hold back with spoilers. So I avoided it.

A 9.5 isn't bad at all, coming from one of the major gaming sites. The only real issue with the controls seems to be that the springball doesn't always work. And they did think that the final boss wasn't as hard as some of the others in the game, but we'll have to wait and see for ourselves about that one.

correct, Pinball should have been a 10 :P
it's awesome. where's Metroid Prime Pinball 2: Echoes???

btw, thanks for the spoiler, Prime Hunter

beam that goes through walls
Well gametrailers gave it a 9.6 in their review.

But I thought we all knew that was in the game by now...  Wink

So, reading through the review again, it looks like I was right about the initial difficulty levels as Normal and Veteran, and being able to unlock Hyper afterwards. So who's going to bypass Normal and head directly to Veteran their first time through? (I probably will, unless we find out that playing on Normal unlocks something.)
Definatly doing veteran first time through as it will be harder and therefore in general more fun.

Definitely will be playing Normal to begin with. I always start with Normal the first time through any game; it always feels like I'm missing something if I don't.

I am very much against the concept of having initial difficulties from the start, though. Unlocking a harder mode is one thing, but giving the option from the start just seems like a cheap way to make the game more difficult.

or maybe normal is easier than previous primes for people who couldn't handle them and veteran is a way to tell people that the game is not dumbed down.

anyway, i'll start with normal.

Ever heard of Europe?
I'm definitely doing veteran first.  It'll feel like more of an accomplishment afterwards.

As for multiple difficulties from the start - I'm all for it.  If you have the confidence for it, then its nice to have a harder version so you aren't let down by the lack of difficulty.  Look at the Metal Gear Games.  Nobody who's beaten Metal Gear Solid 1 more than once wants to play MGS2 on the easiest level.  And look at the community here, I'm sure all of us could handle veteran.

Ok, if you honestly didn't know I'm sorry about that. I just know it's been mentioned plenty of times in previews that have been posted on the site here before, so I didn't think anything of it.
