think amon is simpler than all that jazz. it's obvious he's some sort of bender (which means once the equalists find out, they'll immediately abandon him, thus neatly closing this season's plot arc), and i also think it's obvious he's an energybender. that's the only way we've ever seen anyone take away someone's bending.

my favorite theory is still that he's aang's son bumi. he's listed as a non-bender, but it wouldn't be totally crazy for him to somehow have inherited aang's energybending, but nothing else. remember, aang was the first human in like thousands (or millions) of years to ever energybend. to him it's just like the other four elements, so i don't see why it couldn't have gotten passed along to one of his kids.

so I'm thinking we get episode 10 and then 11 and 12 as the finale.

yeah for some reason nickelodeon made it seem like the next episode would be the finale, but you're right, 10 airs next week, then the one-hour finale on 23 june.

I don't why a blood bender can't just insta-kill everything around them. I mean, can't they theoretically induce heart attacks at will, considering they can control the blood flow in a person's body?

if they're good enough, i would think so, yeah. what does that have to do with the episode though? don't think tarrlok (or yakone for that matter) wanted to kill anyone whose blood we saw them bending, just knock them out (i assume by rushing blood out of their head).

Why wouldn't Yakone want to kill anyone? He was the most wanted criminal of his time. It's not like a few murders would have really changed his already bad reputation. Killing a few high ranking councilmen would have especially helped him carry out his goal of taking over Republic City, considering their deaths would have thrown the council into disarray and give him and his lackeys a chance to strike.

dunno if we really saw enough of him to know what all his reasons for doing stuff were. killing everyone isn't always a good way to get what you want, lol. maybe he wanted to draw support from the community like amon did.

or for some reason bloodbending can't actually kill someone because the creators of the show say so. i'm ok with that.
red chamber dream
hell, maybe the people in the show don't know how the heart works :3

Well, they'd better explain it a bit better in later episodes because blood bending seems way too potent to be used that mildly. Also, I'm seriously NOT looking forward to the inevitable drama between Korra and Asami over Mako. When it happens, though, I hope it gets resolved within a few eps and doesn't lead to a chain of betrayals and other bullshit.

does it matter now? tarrlok's out the picture, and amon doesn't appear to be a bloodbender.

i'm also confident whatever drama there may be between the three isn't really going to be a big deal. the writers are smarter than that, and there's only two eps left. then again, i'm assuming everything is going to be wrapped up by the end of the season. maybe it won't, but i just can't see amon having enough legs to be the main bad guy for more than a season. we shall see.

Well, yeah, considering bending is a central focus of the show and blood bending is a new kind introduced in it. They can't just brush it off like the four original kinds.
red chamber dream
it's not new, it's just an extension of waterbending.

anyway, the reason i don't think it's very important though is that yakone and tarrlok are anamolies (in that they don't need a full moon to bloodbend). it's not like there are hundreds of bloodbenders running around. bloodbending is clearly dangerous though, and everyone knows it's dangerous. isn't that enough for what we need to know about it at this moment? i'm not counting on ever seeing it again tbh, but if the writers do decide to show it again, maybe they'll go into more detail on just how dangerous it can be. for now though i guess i don't really care.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Yakone suggested that he could, in fact, have killed Aang with bloodbending during the flashback. But then you know, killing Avatars is kind of hard. But I figure that killing anyone like that would be difficult, doesn't seem like control is that fine tuned to just move all of their blood somewhere else, or even enough to cause vascular/cardiac rupture. Looks more like the best they can do is use the blood to move the body around, I would expect you could break some vertebrae by bending the neck enough.

But realistically it's a kid's show and their not going to explode hearts all over the damned place. Network would have a fit. Honestly the fact that it allows one to directly control another human being against their will is bad enough that killing doesn't really make it worse.

That is not a nice way to go out for the week, show. stern
Poor Lin. :(
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Tearing airships in half is gonna be way harder now. Sad

didn't find myself with much to say about this ep. i liked it though!
I like turtles.
The fact that they depowered a character as major as Lin makes me wonder if Korra won't be able to reverse the energybending havoc wreaked by Amon.

Also
red chamber dream
ah yeah i was thinking that too. my guess is korra learns to energybend either by visions of aang or talking to him in the spirit world. seems like there's no way they'd take a great character like lin out of the picture for good like that.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Look at you fucking racists, Lin doesn't need bending to own. Not talking

oh i did want to say how awesome it was to hear dante basco's voice again. i don't even care that the new iroh sounds almost exactly like zuko, i fucking love that lisp.
I like turtles.
So, Zuko's son, or grandson?  Someone pointed out that "grandson" might make more sense given the chronology, but who knows how old General Iroh actually is?
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I was laughing so hard I missed his name. Just Not-Zuko outta fucking nowhere. Was awesome.
I like turtles.
Actually Zuko is apparently still alive in this series at age eighty-seven.  I would love to see him show up and have the same basic personality as Uncle Iroh.
red chamber dream
i'm sure he's zuko's grandson, just judging by his voice. he looked kind of old compared to team avatar (like maybe thirty) but i'm thinking that's just because of the uniform. wouldn't be surprised if he's around korra's age.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
He's actually juts Uncle Iroh in a sweet disguise.
Hey ark, you need some help cleaning up your yard? Cause it looks like your theories just got tossed out the window. :P
he lives in an apartment
Oh, well hope his landlord doesn't see 'em. :P
