Hi everyone,

I'm a big fan of the Metroid Primes and I am currently making my way through Super Metroid and Zero Mission. The reason I came to this site is because I am wondering if Metroid Prime, one of the greatest games ever made, has had any lasting influence on the video game industry. Searching a bit on Google didn't lead me anywhere so I am asking other Metroid fans what they think.

Have there been any First Person Adventures since Metroid Prime? Have any features found their way into other games? As far as I know, there are no other games quite like Metroid Prime but would love to know that I am wrong. Anyone have any answers?

Thank you!
Thread title:
some people think they put seconds on the time in zero mission due to all the speedrunning of super/prime. or maybe it was fusion (but that would be blasphemy). it's safe to say prime was a huge influence on speedrunning on the internet and speedrunning has influenced games but i know of few specific examples off the top of my head. sda would be a better place to ask about that.
red chamber dream
gameplay-wise, i dunno. guess i haven't really thought about it much. certainly don't know of any other first person adventures of note. one thing to keep in mind though is that prime is basically just like all the previous metroid games except in 3d, so it's probably better to talk about how the series has influenced other games.

prime specifically i think brought a lot of new stuff to the table but it was headed in the opposite direction from its peers at the time (the continued development of console fpses) so i think any "innovations" (really just classic metroid stuff except in 3d) it may have introduced were largely ignored by other developers. i don't think that's a bad thing though ... i mean the developers of metroid prime suck at making metroid prime clones so i don't care to imagine what others might do.
Well, I've seen similar versions of the HUD and scanning in other games, but I don't know if Prime specifically influenced that or if it was simply something I didn't pay attention to until after I played Prime. Other than that, most of the other things that were done in Prime are the old Metroid staples but in 3D, so I don't think they would've gone beyond the series as easily.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
the one thing mp1 has affected the most is speedrunning in general imo.

the game's mechanics themselves haven't shown up in other major games. this isn't like OoT or Mario 64 where almost every dev was taking notes from those games back in the day.
Almost happy
Around the time of Metroid Prime's release everyone was busy copying Halo, and so I don't think it ever really left a lasting impact on the industry (at least not compared to the early games).
