Small tip for the Sandigger SW that I forgot to mention: kill one of the heads, so it can't keep randomly switching directions on you.
Hi everyone,
can someone explain me the way to get sunburst with SA only ? I'm talking about the first BSJ I saw in some Miles' 100% video.

btw I was messing around on an item loss skip game and a few cool/strange things happened. First, I killed the grapple guardian but he didn't gave me grapple. Just nothing happened, only his death animation, no cutscene whatsoever.

Next, I picked up grav boost and tried to fight alpha blog and the huge room was in no water state. Most of my shots were blocked by some invisible walls close to me. I could kill him by screw attacking him (5 or 6 times were enough). But after defeating him, the water didn't return and so I was stuck. Too bad I didn't record this one. It was quite fun. I also tried a few more times but couldn't reproduce it. (Darkburst does a ton of damage btw).

And finally, I wanted to beat DS2 in sanctuary. But I can't break the glass before the PB door. The boost I get off the giant spider ring just has a ridiculously short range. I tried my best but no hope here.

Ok, has anyone encoutered one of these things ?

The 2nd and third I can answer.

You got the air-underwater glitch probably by morphing right at the door from the grav. boost to that chamber.

For the DS 2 window problem, go to where that "L" is and back up just a little, then boost off the track.  You should get it then.

There's a small ledge you can stand on; do you still have my 100% run? If you do, just try to copy it. >_>

Um... Never had that happen before.

I've had it happen in a run. Needless to say, that's as far as it got...

By the way, the glitch disappears if you leave that water box (in this case, going back into the Gravity Boost room).
Thanks guys for answering.

I know about that and I know it's not the problem right here. My guess is that because I haven't collected spider. I've noticed that the small part of the L isn't spider sticky (which I assume it would be if the game considered I had spider).

I don't have it anymore but I tried to mimic it from the memories I have, but I don't know where that ledge is. Is it right above or backwards and to the side, I don't know. If I could see where I'm supposed to stand on, that would be easier.

:) Quite lame in a segment attempt.
The thing is that when you try to do it purposely, it doesn't work :(
I had the chance to screw attack the alpha blogg once in my life. Though a good darkburst shot takes away about 70% of his energy.

Still no clue about that grapple guardian glitch. Maybe it's because I've powerbombed both exits of the room. Or maybe I already have an item I shouldn't have, or I miss one.

Anyways it's nice to see what can be done with the item loss skip. Such a great find.
Okay, turns out that leaving Grapple Guardian mid-fight does screw you out of Grapple. Good to know! >_>

That. I recorded a video earlier, I'll upload it later if you still need help (need to rip/compress/etc.).

No, that part of the track just isn't supposed to work (can you imagine how annoying that would be?). There's absolutely no difference between the Spider you start with and the Spider you get normally; the only difference is that starting with Spider lets you attempt to latch on to Spider tracks before you're supposed to. It's just a coincidence that Dynamo Works's spider tracks start working after you get Spider; getting Spider just changes the state of the room.

As for boosting off the track... You're not pressing any direction during the boost, right? Other than that I have no idea. :\

That would greatly help. And if you want this video to be worth being made, maybe it could go on the main site, section "Early sunburst" or something.

That's the room I was thinking about. But that's not the only one. There is also the DS1 room before collecting dark beam.

Sure not. The strange thing is that you normally get slightly repositionned if you let go of the stick after reaching the end of the track. And it doesn't this time. That's why I thought of some kinda corrupted spider track. I'll try some more and if it still doesn't work I'll pick up spider and maybe even boost if it helps. Seriously, the ball goes as far as your last drop of pee. That doesn't look normal at all.

Like I said, if you give yourself a tiny bit of distance from that "L" ramp and NOT press any buttons besides the R and b (to boost), you should be fine.
Thanks a lot. I'll practice that.  EDIT : Got it. Not that hard after all.

I finally got to break the glass. I was doing things right, but for some stupid reason it wasn't working despite countless tries. All I had to do is reset the game and try it once more. I believe it had already happened to me once in the past and there's nothing I could do but reset. That sounds stupid because this trick is super easy and I didn't understand why it wasn't working.

On a side note, is anybody working on a new speedrun using ILS (any%, 7%) ?

EDIT2 : in
I can't get the the room after the PB door to load. I just fall all the way down after powerbombing it. Is there anything I'm missing ?
Simple: When laying the PB, don't move. At all. Whatsoever.

For the room to load, you can't be completely above the door; that's why I drop down some before PBing it.

hm, Darkburst can be used against Alpha Blogg normally. i collected it to beat him easily way back when i couldn't beat the boss easily (that has to be the second time i beat the game)

Anyone got a solid method for killing Emperor Ing in Trilogy?

Hypermode difficulty, all items, so ammo shouldn't be a problem.

i was going to say cheesy old strat but then you said on hypermode.

i've got no tips other than avoid him and use your ammo wisely. also, recharge as much as you can when he releases flying enemies and use SA to get away/avoid the shockwave.

Should I be worried about saving missiles for Dark Samus?  I usually use Supers on her to speed things up.
...How could you possibly go through 255 missiles?

Even if you did, no, you shouldn't.
I like turtles.
Using Seekers on the tentacles, Supers on Spider in its base phase... these things add up, especially when everything has double health.
Either use uncharged Light Beam on the tentacles, or PB them when they sweep low around the room.
I like turtles.
I tried both of those.  Uncharged Light Beam never connects and just ends up wasting Annihilator ammo that I'll need later; similarly, Power Bombs never connect (though that's more my fault because it's a timing thing) and I like to use those on the next phase.

I've found Seekers to be the most reliable.

*shrugs*

I'll try again with Light Beam, I guess.

Awwwww yeah.

'Bout time, too.

Okay, so (ugh, a triple post) is the 101% trick possible in Trilogy?

Yes. I've done it.

You have to go Scan Visor and target something off in the distance, then dash jump into the rock to get the Ghetto effect.

I don't think you can completely skip the fight after with the other Ghetto jump that takes you back up to the missile door though.

Here's the Video walkthrough I used:

It's the Japanese version but it still works.

something i hated when i did the vid is that it took so many tries for the ghettos to work since i did it in less attempts before i started recording.

That was your vid?

Is EVERY metroid video I find on Youtube from someone here?!
