matt L, we have a rule against double/triple/etc. posting. If you have something to add to a post of yours before someone else has responded, just use the "Edit" button. That way, you don't have to make multiple posts in a row.

sorry about that (i didn't see all the rules). what  i came for is this;
i am fighting the last form of dark samus. what type of phazon energy do you collect? the big blasts or the tiny particles floating in the air?
The big blasts are missiles, run away from those. When she launches many small blasts, charge your beam and collect them on the tip of your beam until it turns blue, then fire at DS. Don't get hit or you'll lose the Phazon charge.

ok. thnx

edit:i did that, all it did was damage me! pleez help

Ahh yes.  As soon as your beam's charge turns blue, don't collect anymore but immediately fire at Dark Samus.  Any more and you'll just get damaged and lose the beam.
Quote from Metroid²:
you can screw attack BACKWARDS?!

Not really.  You can double jump backwards and on the third press of the B button, the Screw Attack will still activate, however, it will go forward.  I only said what I said because Screw Attack never activates for me if I just stand still and hit jump three times in a row.  I always have to actually be moving in a direction (Other than up/down) during the first two jumps.

Sorry I didn't sound all that clear.

Dark Samus 4:  Big blast, move towards her, than after the big blast hits the ground, move as far away from her as possible.  Keep your Charge Beam charging at all times.  When she lets out the small blasts and your lock on point goes above Dark Samus (Because it's following the small blast) stand still to absorb it.  But like tjp7154 said, if you absorb too much, you'll take damage.  Move away as soon as your charge turns blue.

thnx! i finally beat the game!
Question: On a mem card do I have to beat the game in order to skip the cutscenes?

I have one card maxed on MP2 games. When I put the new card in I was unable to skip the cutscenes no matter how much I tried. Thought is was the controller, but nope. I even tried reset the cube and power down/up.

There is no way in heck I am going through the pain of U-mos's speaches again! For an alien he sure is long winded.  Laughing

P.S. I have no problems with skipping the cutscenes on the other card.

-Yakuza
So copy over the MP2 file from the full card on to the other.
Want a fun little giggle? I have never done that! I have never had to before. I have always just played a game through then moved onto the next game.

This is the first time I have ever played a console game past finish.

I just figured that when a game was done it was done. Oh well thanks I will do that.
I did the underwater dash to skip Spreaders in Hydrodynamo, got Gravity Boost, then got Grapple, and I'm trapped behind the gate with the portal in Gathering Hall. I've tried to get through the gate from behind, but I can't. As far as I can tell, that's the only portal I can reach without Power Bombs. Am I flickerbatted? Is this an SB-induced-trap?

I saved in the Dark world after killing Grapply, so I can't reset my way out of it.
It happened to me on my first speedrun. I was flickerbat and my run too, there was no way to go back in the light world. I deserved it though, speedrunning before knowing the game perfectly.
Damn. That's what I get for not thinking ahead. It was only a practice run though, so no harm done. That's what practice is for. :P
I've been trying to get the energy and screw attack early using the technique found on this page: http://www.metroid2002.com/echoes/early_items_screw_attack.php

But, it doesn't work for me. What am I doing wrong?
Try both the roll jump and the dash?
Well, the scan dash won't work at all, since I had previously scanned a white door. The roll jump is the thing that is annoying me. I am able to roll jump perfectly, but when I fall into the abyss, it just places me at the starting edge.
The dash is supposed to be easier with the door scanned.

~"It's not necessary to scan the door before doing the dash, but if you don't, the dash must be done without a chance to stop and make adjustments while the screen is frozen. Scanning the door first is recommended, unless you can do the dash reliably."

...And for the roll jump, are you pressing the L button immediately after you instant unmorph?  If you don't see the little cursor, that means you didn't press the L button at the right time and your roll jump won't far enough to make it across.
It still isn't working.  :(

And how would having that white door previously scanned make it easier? I can't even move when I scan it.

Though, when roll jumping across the pit, I reach the opposite ledge, then fall. However, it always places me back on the starting ledge.

A couple of questions for the roll jump method:

-How far from the other side have you gotten?
-Have you downloaded any of the previous speed runs?  If so, have you compared your jump?
1. very close, so close it seems as if i'm right up against the other wall

2. yes, their jumps and my jumps appear to be the same
Or you going for the roll jump or the dash?  If you can't make the dash, then you have noticed there's a pile of wires you're supposed to stand on to give you extra height and therefore, extra distance, right?
