Take cover or die...
Ohhh...sorry, I didn't know how much of an explanation you needed. The only way to skip the dark suit is to skip all the Dark Agon Keys and the Amorbis fight. You can leave Agon as soon as you get light beam. From there, head to the C side of Temple Grounds, as if heading to Torvus. Find the room Hall of Eyes, and go into the portal. Then in the dark world head to the door in front of you, and you should be in Abandoned Base. Then do the trick in the video. I'm pretty sure you can't fight Amorbis and not take the dark suit...someone might have to clarify.
Game Lover
Nope, you have to take the Dark Suit in order to get to the Energy Controller.

Really, I just want to see Samus take and return energy in another suit for once. You're in the Dark Suit for FAR too long in this game. X_x
Take cover or die...
You don't have to return the energy either. As long as you don't take it, you can skip returning it, and thus U-Mos will respond to any energy you return. The only one you can't skip is the Sanctuary Energy, and that happens to be the only one you need to return to get the Light Suit. Just watch any speedrun that skips the dark suit, and you'll see that both the Agon and Torvus energy are skipped. I recommend watching DJGrenola's 1:38.

Let's try the Boost Guardian on Hard Mode, shall we?

Okay, I've looked at the techniques and tried them. I'm having a hard time mastering the "shoot him in puddle form" tech because I can never stay close enough to him. -_- Also, the Inglets drive me nuts! THEY are the ones that usually getting me killed off. They don't help at all for energy, they are more like unneeded pests.

Now, I'm certain the number of times that I've tried to beat the Boost Guardian on Hard exceeds 10 times. I'm certain that's at least how many I've done THIS day.

Stats: 5 Energy tanks; 85 Missiles. I know this is the maximum number of energy tanks I can have without SBing up to this point.

So, I tried something. I went to the Windchamber and tried to get the energy tank there. I tried all three techniques, but I can't master them. I want just one of them: Dash-Jump; the normal Space Jumping around the circle; and the roll jump.

I can't get them to quite work and you guys leave me to marvel at how on earth could you possibly do those techniques?

Version? Pre-ordered NSTC.

What do I do? I am EXTREMELY frustrated, and I really want to move on with the game!

Nvm, I got past doomed entry without SJ.

Also, I'm sorry about the dark suit thing, but that's the best I can explain it, and the speedrun I recommended should show you what I'm talking about.

If you wanna get the energy tank in windchamber, I suggest doing dash jump. Basically, just look at the kinetic morph ball hologram on the other side of the room, the side that doesn't have the energy tank. Try scanning it, and it'll be too far away, which is good. Now do a regular strafe and hold down R. You should have R and L held down; use the second jump to increase the distance. There's already a page with all 3 tricks to get this tank, and a page on how to scan dash. Look at those if you need more help. If you are still stuck on boosty, try this video to get the early PB to 1-shot KO him (just copy and paste because I'm not familiar with linking here):

I hope that helps; apparently my explanations are too confusing. >_>

Alright, could anyone give me advice on how to get past polluted mire without SJ? I've already got past the first part with the 3BSJ, but the second part with the 1BSJ is so hard because I can never get the instant unmorph without being too close to the edge, and then I fall. When I do manage to get the BSJ I feel like I'm not even close to the third platform. I watched some videos with people doing this on their first try, and I can't imagine ever doing that. >_<

Edit: Oh, I didn't notice when you posted links they automatically became vids, never mind that copy and paste crap in my last post.

2nd Edit: Never mind, I completed the room. (goes to cheer for an hour in my living room)

can any one show me a floaty jump video?

“Well done is better than well said”
In the metroid prime section under other, then under floaty jump.  Here http://www.metroid2002.com/other_floaty_jump.php  For echoes http://www.metroid2002.com/echoes/other_floaty_jump.php  I had forgotten it was discovered in echoes.  Interesting.  And of course Master Zed had his hand in it.  The beauty of it is you don't need a code for it.  Oh and it is fun to mess around with.  I did the sun chamber one in prime 1.  There are at least several variations locations and different types of immersion materials in both games that allow the glitch.  Not sure about corruption though.  I think some are working on it.  I'm curios to know.

Edit:  I now see that the above link only has a description.  Sorry about that.  I saw it some where.  Probably segment ? in a speed run.  I'll check around for you.

Woot, just made it past crypt without SJ. Since no one is asking questions a lot, I'll just post my progress every once in a while. >_>

Grapple Guardian is goin down!

I know, just saying. Oh btw, I just beat Chykka without losing floaty jump on my first try, and I'm about to get to Sanctuary. Could anyone tell me how hard Vault is without SJ because I know it was one of the main stopping points in the no SJ game, and I just want a heads-up on how hard it is, because so far, I didn't know Doomed Entry, Polluted Mire, and Crypt were gonna be that frusturating...

Edit: Haha, I feel like I'm talking to myself.  Shocked

Well, I made it to Vault and...yeah, I ain't passing that anytime soon.

the one thing you'll need is a lot of luck to get a fight where he acts dumb and gives you enough time to kill him.

he's the hardest boss in the whole game so don't get the idea that you suck or something. eveyone has had to suffer this at least once. once in a while you'll get the right fight to beat him.

you could also use the early PB if you really hate him but imo you should beat him the regular way at least once to know how satisfying beating him with the PB can be.
Take cover or die...
Yeah...anyone got advice on Vault (without SJ)? I can't get to spinners 2 and 4, and I'm not even close (using the reverse morph). I'm stuck here for a while, so I'll keep practicing, but it's definitely the hardest room so far.
Game Lover
I managed to beat him normally last week, I was so happy. I also scanned him during his death animation. laugh new Then I fought Alpha Blogg, took me three tries, but I managed to kill him. I am very pleased at the moment. :)

Thanks for all your suggestions and help. I know beat them without SBing, but still, I'm thankful for your willingness to help another player out.
I never bothered with no-SJ, so I don't think I can help with Vault.

Okay, I want the Screw Attack early. I'm following the videos, and I've already scanned the door all the way, so I can't use the jump dash. So, I need to do the roll jump. I'm trying to follow the instructions but I keep falling. I think I got out of morphball form twice out of 15+ tries with Samus's arm cannon out with her hand on it, but I still fell into the pit and could not jump. :(

Any other tricks to the roll jump, or an alternate explanation, because I don't think I'm getting it.

There's always Red Scarlet's strawberry express variant.

Also, it is both easier and recommended to dash the pit with the door already scanned. It took me probably a hundred tries to get it first time ... these days I can do it about one in two, so don't be disheartened.

the video isn't working :(

The problem with the dash is that the door is a GREEN scan, so it immediately pulls up the scanned item list. I CAN'T use it to dash back as it stops me for a  second.

the problem for me is that i DO have grapple beam.......yet i can't reach it...

You can get to it, Grapple Beam or not, but, with the grapple beam, you gotta scan the switch on the other side to get the grapple points to lower themselves down. It's recommended you have grapple beam, unless you like doing the robot hopping in Grand Abyss. >_>

I tried Red Scarlet's method, still no dice. Am I just not made to Sequence break (except in Zero Mission) in Metroid games?? I'm really bad at timing, I'd need to see the order the buttons pressed are. Also, I have a hard time timing an X+B button push at the same time. :/

It's not at the same time actually (though it's easier to say that).  When Samus is in the right position for an instant unmorph, hit X, then B, then hold down L, all in rapid succession (as quick as you can without being sloppy).  It's said to be at the same time because it has to be almost that fast.

Try this; put your fingers on their appropriate home row keys on the keyboard and type out ljf quickly.  It's a lot like that in timing, and uses the same digits I use for BSJ's and roll jumps.

As for hand positioning, I always put my right hand over the controller, the ring and index fingers over X and B respectively.  It's as if I actually were hitting ljf (or in the 'cube controller's case, XBL), only my left hand stays in normal position.
Anywhere, everywhere
I put my right index finger on x and my right thumb on b for bsj's in echoes. Corruption's are so much easier on the hands.
Game Lover
Okay... how do you do the instant unmorph? It happens randomly for me.

Edit: Also, I'm going to need to enter the Dark World when I need to go to the vault, but I need the spiderball to access the bomb slot. What do I do to get that dark portal open early?
