Thread title:
After beating Kraid, I can't get up the block shaft back to the top of the room.  The timing is rather tricky.  Is there a better way to get up there?
Armor Guardian
You could kill yourself. That would send you back to the elevator with Kraid still beaten, but you'd have only 30 energy.
Lol.  Wouldn't have thought of that.  But would that be legal in a speedrun?
red chamber dream
Yes, but it would be labeled on SDA as abusing death.
hey, one of the speed tricks said something about a door jump, but i can't find anything about how to do it.  any help?

Basically, once you get caught in the door, keep morphing/unmorphing until you appear on the bottom of the screen. This is not acceptable for speedruns, though.
Am I the only one that can't get the energy tank after beating Kraid? I have all of the other ones except that one. I've tried everything, well not everything cause I still can't get it. I would just go on and finish the game but I have like 77 life left and I need this last tank. So if anyone could help that would be awesome. Thanks.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
This is how you do it
I think the trick is rolling off of the higher platform.
Thanks that helped out alot. But now the question is am I screwed? I just had all of my energy sucked out om me by the metroids. I have the wave beam and I read that you have to have the ice beam. So am I screwed or is there a way to get the ice beam back?
Armor Guardian
You're not screwed. There are two copies of the Ice Beam, and IIRC they reappear when you get the Wave Beam.
red chamber dream
Yeah, you can only have either the Ice Beam or the Wave Beam equipped, and when you have one, the other reappears on the map in all its locations (not sure if there's more than one Wave or not).
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I'm fairly certain there's only one wave beam pick up. I was under the impression that the reason there were two ice beams was because you had to have it to complete the game, that way getting wave doesn't screw you.
Phoenix
There's only one Wave. Also, the Ice reappears at both locations no matter where you get it originally. So there's really no reason for it to be in two places. I think all the beam items are always there no matter what, even the Long Beam. If you get a beam, leave the room and re-enter, it'll be back.
I always thought that the Brinstar Ice Beam was there so you could get it early (exploration reward), and so you could replace it more easily when going to Tourian.
What'd you say?
I'm playing Metroid for my first time and i am having troubles killing kraid he always knocks me into the acid immediately and i die right away, any ideas how to make this not happen?

im playing the demo on zero mission
coral to complement blue
Bombing the crap out of him is the best strategy if you have more than 2 E-Tanks.
