So, I have a random question...

Is it possible to get into the security access b sw without spacejump?  (seems entirely possible but would like it confirmed)
and...can it be done in the PAL version of the game?

If so, couldn't PAL players use this secret world and wallcrawl past ore processing thus solving 21 percent for PAL?
(I have NTSC version but would be nice to see it solved for PAL)
Hi guys,
new to MP1 speed running, learning any% PAL with pirate109's 1:07 on SDA as a guide. I'm currently learning the first chozo ruin segment of the run and am having trouble with infinite bomb jumping in that I just don't know to practice it without getting varia and practicing at the actual trick point. Is there someway to duplicate the setup in order to practice before attempting the segment?

thanks
Assuming you mean the suntower ibj; I would just go there with a 100% completed file and practice with lots of energy tanks

The ibj there I find quite specific so I would definately reccommend practicing on the actual spot.
Thanks for the advice, I ended up doing that (after getting decent at the previous fight) and have the bomb jumping bit down, now it's just a case of getting myself back on the ledge (which you think would be the easy bit)
You can also practise in the room with Parasite Queen. You have to hold the control stick in a certain direction (if I recall correctly down-left) to slow your descent appropriately.
Thanks for the advice all, ended up going the 100% file method and am onto the next segment, am having a blast speed running this game!
Bangaa Bishop
Is the Ice Shriekbat a limited-time scan in the Trilogy version of prime? It apparently is in the original NA version and 0-01, but not the players choice version or PAL version.
Bangaa Bishop
yup, apparently it is. They're nowhere to be found =\
whats the formula to get the pirate to break the glass in phendrana pirate lab, when coming from below?

aha i cant take the thermal visor... that explains it. thanks
to clarify: i cant take the thermal visor before going up there. i need to take it on the way back
I'm attempting to scale the Observatory to negate the Thermal Visor Glitch as per this instruction:

http://www.metroid2002.com/other_thermal_visor_glitch.php

However, even after attempting it for about 5 hours... all I accomplish is banging the side of the platform over and over and over and over... I can't get on top of the platform.  I can't seem to get the height required to land on top of the platform.

Anybody know a lot about the dash jump and how I can get the extra height I need?  Anybody attempted to scale the Observatory like this before?
yeah, it's really hard. in order to use the video to time the space jump you need to have the same speed off the dash as i get in the video.
getting there...
hmmm, I don't remember this one being THAT hard.

Assuming your dashes aren't awful (you can get SJF reliably right?), it should be all about the timing of the second B press. You need to hit your second jump soon after your initial dash. If you keep crashing into the side of the platform, you are likely hitting it too late. Remember this isn't a normal dash, where distance is most relevant. You need the height.

It's not an easy dash, I'll give you that, but a little experimentation with the timing of B should sort out any problems you are having. I'd actually like to see a short video of you attempts, because 5 hours sounds like a LONG time to be laboring over this trick. It sounds like the problem could be more fundamental.
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks

I don't quite get the jump at 0:12, is there something I can ghetto off of that I'm missing? because it seems a little out of reach for a normal jump <_<
approach the rock from the right side.
wasn't there a way to get the atifact in control tower early w/o the plasma beam?
yeah you just jump on the boxes and you shoot a missile at the explosives, over the force field
ok, i'll have to try again. last time i couldn't seem to get above the force field.

is this even  confirmed to be possible on the pal version?
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
It should be possible, but you could always just test by shooting a missiles over it from the ground.

why didn't i think of that ... thanks.

Hey Guys!

I'm new here and first, I want to honestly thank you all for being so helpful when someone asks a question! You are great and so is this forum!

Prepare to read an Overkill-Post...aiwebs_008
Over 3 years ago, I got the MP-Trilogy for Wii and since then, I'm a huge fan of these 3 Games, especially of the first title, which I've played through 9 times just on Wii!

But then, I got into Sequence Breaking, which opened a full new door to play MP in a totally other way to me. I was so excited about that, that I -mercifully- decided to buy a Gamecube with MP1 and MP2. But that was quite circular, because I'm Swiss, which means, that I'd have to find something that "transfers" PAL into NTSC, since I absolutely wanted to play these games in the original NTSC 0-00-Version.
But, yeah, THANKFULLY there is this cool thing called "Freeloader"!Very Happy

I tried out a HUGE amount of things in MP1 in my first and fourth walkthrough and learned Wallcrawling in my third and did a non-Sequence Break-Glitch-Trick-Run in my second.
But then, I wanted to do something really difficult. A low%-Walkthrough.
I'd already done a NATURAL low%-Run in each of the 3 Prime-Games on Normal in Trilogy-Version, without any real Tricks and without Glitch-using.
MP1 and MP3 weren't nearly as hard to pull off as I first thought, but MP2 was -back then- the hardest thing I've ever done in MPT.

A few days ago, I managed to finish my first low%-Run (actually my second, but this one was a natural low% (29%) on Trilogy-Wii-Version on Normal, which is easier compared to 29% on Gamecube).
But this time, it wasn't a simple 29%, no it was a CRAZY 22%-Run!Very Happy
I'm so proud of it, even though it was just on Normal and it is the (easier) NTSC and not the PAL-Version, I'm SOOOOO proud of myself and happy and it really was worth it to me not to collect de Boost Ball and not to use a single Secret World!Very Happy
Of course, I've used several sources and got a ton of help by simply searching for already posed questions on the M2K2-forum or reading through the "Skipping the Boost Ball-Pages" on M2K2.

But during the 22%-Run, I decided not to make a profile on this forum because it'd eat away too much time, and I was convinced that I'd nail this Geothermal Wh*re one day, if I just kept trying. (I wanted to collect the Plasma Beam BEFORE trying Ventillation Shaft, because it it is consodered the most crazy part in the whole run, and this way I got convinced that nothing else would be crazy enough to hinder me to finish the game. And so it was.)
The same applies for the Artifact of Wild, Ventilation Shaft, the Artifact of Chozo, Omega Pirate & Metroid Prime (and its essence).

So, I want to -once more- pronounce a BIG thank-you to all of you very helpful Users!Applause

Ah, else a couple of  questions:

How hard is it to pull off the Thardus Dash in the NTSC-Version?
Because I want to do my first Speedrun which uses Glitches and Sequence-Breaking, and therefore, you'll want to skip the Spider Ball, don't you?!
Can you get sub 1:30 easily or is 1:40 a more "suitable" goal for the first time?
I'm speaking of Normal Mode and Multi-Segment.
How do you guys appraise me? I mean, not hundreds of people have ever pulled off a 22%.
Could you give me an estimated number of how many people have ever done that? That'd be great! But yeah, therefore, i must have some potential, right?Cool

PS: As mentioned above, I'm not a native speaker, so don't expect me to write error free!
PPS: Sorry for the EXTREMELY long post, but it just had to be! (Otherwise I'd have edited too many times...)
Have a great day and PEACE!keks

EDIT: During waiting one whole week, i've become more and more impatient... Why is nobody responding here?! Confused I mean, as I can see, there're always a couple of people online, but why does it appear like everybody is ONLY observing the boardwalk-pages, and nobody is actually caring about the Metroid Prime-pages? I'd just be soooo glad if anybody responded...Smile
What'd you say?

This is the only bit that I'm qualified to answer. A lot of us either haven't played some of the Metroid games, or we aren't well-versed enough to supply a sufficient answer. Perhaps some people are only here for the social aspect, who knows. I personally have never beaten any of the Prime games, so I can't help you, sorry. Hopefully someone will drop by soon and assist you.

Hey, thanks for your post anyway. Smile
I never thought there'd be anybody in this forum who hasn't beaten Prime yet, so i wasn't aware of the possibility that I didn't get any response due to the fact that nobody who has passed by yet is ABLE to help me, but thought that nobody is WILLILNG to help me...
So, thanks for the clarification! Smile

Not that hard. You get to save right before trying it so you can save in magmoor and try it infinitely until you get good at it. Learning where to stand on thardus was the hardest part for me.

uhhh sure

sub 1:30 is easy if you give yourself enough time to somewhat optimize some parts

Now that 21% is doable I will have to give you a lower appraisal than I would have 5 years ago.

My completely uneducated guess is less then 256 but more then 1.

ps it says I am logged in probably all the time but I only really check in actual topics when I get bored at work which is about once or twice a week and I only post a couple times a year
