MP2 also a bit MP1 speedrunning
i have a question:
do i really need the mbb's for the early ice beam trick? is it absolutly impossible without?
They're required to backtrack through Furnace afterward.
MP2 also a bit MP1 speedrunning
hm yeah looks so or maybe is it possible with a very hard weird jump into this thing
but yeah i dont want to waste my time with doing the whole trick for nothing so i will take the "normal" way
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
I've tryed to get past that room before the furnace without the bombs, you ether need boost or bombs to get the hight you need as far as I know...

Then again, with luck/speed I bet a TAS could get thru there with little to no problem

well.. i found a few new speedtricks
they dont really look mcuch faster but i saved over 3 seconds compared to my old tas in only 43 seconds of ingame time with the same route cool.
getting 0:59 will defenitly not be a real problem for sparky after i finished this tas.
Hi everyone, this is my first post ever.  I made an account a really long time ago and completely forgot about it.  Anyways, I really really need some help.  I am doing a 21 percent run in Prime and I can't get past vent shaft.  Vent shaft is hell!  I have only made it 4 or 5 times and can't do it anymore.  There is no consistency to that trick for me at all.  Seriously, I have tried that room all day before with no success.  Can anyone give me tips on how to do this room consistently?
i used to have a lot of trouble with 21% vent shaft as well but recently i've discovered something that makes it a lot easier. the trick to the bomb jump lies in the second bomb (the first bomb of the actual bomb jump). if you play around with the timing of this bomb you'll realize that if layed at a certain time, you'll get an extended boost up the half-pipe. it's pretty obvious when you get this boost because it will send you significantly higher than usual. also, i'm fairly certain it has to do with hitting the very top of the bomb. the rest of the bomb jump can be performed subpar and you should still be able to make it.
Thanks T3!  Your advice has made VS more consistent for me.  (Sorry for late reply haven't had time to play lately)
Also, I would be very happy if anyone can help me with PPC.  I have been stuck on this room for 5 months now.  It is highly annoying doing the same segment over and over and I have acutally cosidered quitting on 21 percent.  This room is harder than VS for me....
I was looking through the 21% topic again and came across an old post made by Andrew Mills that suggested a different route for 21% exists-one that skips Vent Shaft and PPC.  It involves getting Plasma Beam before going into the mines and then using The Metroid Quarantine B sw to wallcrawl all the way past PPC.  Is this sw even possible without spacejump?  Andrew said that not having sj shouldn't be a problem when doing the metroid jump.  I would like to know before I start this because I wouldn't want to go through the trouble of doing another 21% run just to find that the Metroid Quarantine B sw is impossible without space jump.  I don't have AR or TAS so I really need someone elses help in testing this out.
i'm pretty sure it's possible. iirc paraxade used it in his 21% completion to bypass going through ppc the second time. though, i wouldn't recommend doing any of this as an extra trip through the lower mines would be far more difficult/annoying than just doing ppc in-bounds.
How did Paraxade get in the secret world?  Normally you have to space jump over the invisible barrier.  How can you do a dbj off of the very thin rafters to get in the sw?  Can anyone show me a video of how the sw is done without space jump?
Wow, I didn't even realize lower mines would have to be done twice...
and I would have to get through MQA without x-ray visor...
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
in hall of the elders, is it faster to 3BJ into the ball pipe after fighting the ghost, or when the ghost is spawning go bomb the slot with the wave block and after the fight just jump into the statue's hands. because the cutscene of the statue bowling you doesnt count to your over all time right?

So... Anyone have any advice on how to do the second set of targets quickly? I really suck at them, which is kind of a problem...
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
Oh hey look at that, miles is have the problem I am in my TAS, even with frame advance I can't seem to find out how to hit the highest target as fast as bartendorsparky...
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
Ok looks like I got it as fast as can be in my TAS, you need to let go of L and press it again to lock onto the target on top but it has to be after the first one is shot and before the shot reaches the second target (I don't think theres anything else to it)
always move fast
yeah, all you have to do is hold forward and alternate L + A pretty quickly.  if you're quick enough you don't have to manual aim at all.
I saw in your run that you put away the scan visor after the first cutscene on the first frame possible, and in the 1:03 the visor doesn't appear after the cutscene at all... Is there a trick to immediately put it away like that?
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
in my TAS I morphed after scanning the target at the first frame to take off the scan visor, I don't think it can be done nonTAS nor does it save time in this case, but I assume pressing A will have the same effect so maybe by mashing A as you let go of L will make start in the combat visor after a cut scene?
always move fast
i don't think i did anything special other than press A right after the cutscene.  i must've gotten lucky if i got the first frame.  once you figure out the timing for hitting the light though it becomes pretty easy.  if you're having trouble just try it without walking forward to get the timing down.
I FINALLY got out of the stupid mines in my 21% run and managed to get the plasma beam to!  However, I am stuck in great tree hall.  I am having a lot of trouble getting into the Great Tree Chamber secret world.  I only made it once before but I'm pretty sure I got lucky.  This seems to be the hardest secret world/bomb jump to make in the game.  Is there anything I should know about this particular bomb jump or is it just about getting lucky.....

14:00 - exactly how is that done?
