usually, there are too many changes in pal to compare times with original ntsc (us). see the sda page. however in this case there may not be any changes that matter.

Nate, so the eu runs at SDA runs at pal-50? I am surprised about this actually, I thought there was a seperate eu category due to some glitches being fixed in it + giving europeans a chance to get their prime runs up on SDA.

yes ... that's why they are different categories. the framerate is just the framerate in this case. it's not the speed the game runs at.

having said that, i believe there was one difference that was found to depend on the framerate - the rate of rise of the spinners in geo core spinning them without boost. my memory may be bad on that though.

Cool! so, what frame rate does prime1 run at? I would guess its 25-30fps because it feels (atleast for me) like the same speed at both 50hz and 60hz.
Also guys : I have recorded 3 parts of my quest, I will probably create a new thread, now.

prime always runs at 60 afaik. the only time i've seen slowdown was with lots of enemies on-screen, and rarely in that case.
can be verified by watching runs frame by frame.
Okay I need some help with 22% vent shaft.

I've been doing it on stream and I've been stuck here, I can get a normal HBJ fine but is there something special about this HBJ? (I got close a few times I just pressed X a bit too early.)

My main problem is the timing of the bombs, I know that in HBJ's the bombs are set in a rhythm but how long should I wait before placing each bomb here?
red chamber dream
are you following the video? iirc it's not really an hbj but rather something entirely unique to that room. i might be wrong about that though ... there are too many bjs to keep track of now, and not just when urmom's visiting.

can also try the dash but i actually think that's harder.
not evil,just hungry
Watch the video a few times.  Then listen to it only; no video, just the sound.  Listen for the 'laid a bomb' noise. Try to insert the A presses on a controller while listening.  Might help you get the pattern down.
It may help to work one bomb at a time until every single one is placed just right.
Downloading the video now, and Ark I've tried the dash several times and I've always gotten closer with the bj.

Jerry9, I think I'll try that, thanks.

T3, where's the fun in that?

you're the same as me then. keep in mind the bj is still hard as fuck. good luck.

Ventshaft BJ isn't fun no matter how you approach it >_>

unless its a speed run just wall crawl :P, the dash is a dick and the bjs dumb
Um... I don't think that my chat peoples would want to watch about 50+ minutes of wall-crawling when I'm really bad at MP1 aether jumping, so I think I'll stick to the bj.

im not good at it ether, you only need to ather jump twice in two different spots
What I meant is that most of the time I fall down to the standard, I'm pretty sure I'd have a easier time attempting the bj.
I've beaten the game with 29%, collecting all the normally-required items. Is there a certain item that is considered easier to skip than the rest, so I could get 28%? (Eventually I'd like to be able to get 23%, but that's a long way off.)

thermal visor. you don't have to do anything really. also gravity suit -- just need to do dbj over bars and the ghetto jump to lifegiver.
Ark your also forgetting Grapple Beam.
red chamber dream
that one requires more tricks eg long dash jumps iirc but yeah it's really easy too.
Looks like I'll be trying for a 26% in the near future. I've done the dbj over the bars before and the lifegiver ghetto can't be too hard. As for skipping grapple, I've gotten spirit and plasma without it before, but I haven't tried to get through mines level 3 without it. We'll see how it goes.

Also, it seems like the only trick I'd need to skip charge and supers is getting sun right after flaaghra. I've done the trick before, but not with zero energy tanks. That would cut it down to 24%. And lastly, after viewing all the tricks needed to skip spider, most of which I've done before, I've decided to set 23% as my goal. I have no intentions of ever doing vent shaft, so I'll leave it at 23%.

spider is really easy to skip along with charge/supers. early wild is really the only tough part about skipping all three of those.

Maybe trick-wise, but skipping Charge makes some enemies and bosses an absolute pain.

Yeah. I'd imagine his ice phase is fun without charge.

edit: as well as OP. It was hard enough beating him with 29%, I can't even imagine doing it without charge.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
There really is nothing like a low% run to show you just how important the Charge Beam really is. It's so easy to take it for granted.
OP is the only reason why I do 24% in single-segment runs, I just can't seem to beat him consistently without it. (not to mention 1-round and the PB method has never really worked well for me.)
