Wow, haha, just tried Norfair Gate Hater for the first time. I wasn't aware you could let go of jump, then hold it again. Amazing, I love life now.

Yeah, the mockball on the Super Metroid section of this page says that you just have to release all buttons except jump, so one could think go off jump will also negate the effect.
This sould be changed.
how should it be reworded?
Well, there's really 2 ways to do one.

1) The way that's posted on the site
2) I call it the "lame-mockball"(dont know why, just something i needed to call it), where you press Jump, release every button, then hold jump again and proceed to execute the mockball like you normally would. It gives you the freedom to perform a mockball without use of a ceiling. Useful in places where you'd normally get stopped mid-air by uneven ceilings.
sup.

short intro- couple years ago i was bored and tried to see how much equipment i could get before fighting Kraid. I realized you could get every item in the game except for the Varia Suit and the Etank behind the metal door. then couple days ago i read the NBMB faq on gamefaqs, which brought me here. your stuff is really sweet.

oh yea, i'm using Snes9X v1.36.

im having trouble doing the out-of-room travel. (btw, the OORTravel faq link is not working)

http://www.metroid2002.com/kejardon/OORTravel/FAQ.html

ive managed to trap myself in the door using the open-door walljump. i've got it save-stated on both sides of a door. but no matter which side i try on, the crystal flash opens the door, and i end up on the ground with a disabled xray.

if it helps, im trying it on the door between the Maridia Tube (right side) and the elevator into Norfair room.

if showing screenshots or hosting the save-states would help, i can do that. sorry if this has been already answered elsewhere. thanks.
Embarassed

Kinda embarrassed at this, but after you do the "early super missile trick" (mockball in Brinstar), how do you get back out?  I've bombed all over, but I can't find an exit…
There's a crumble block right near the super missile.  Actually, right under the super missile.
Apparently I have a corrupted ROM or something, because there's no way out…
I can't equip all five beams at once to use the Murder Beam. I did it exactly as it says: equip all beams but spazer, higlight the cursor over one of the boot upgrades and press left+A (or whatever button selects/deselcts items). It either de-equips one of the boot upgrades or activates plasma but deactivate spazer. Is there any other conditions that I should know about?
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
You have to be patient.

'cause you have to press left and A at exactly the same time.
In other words, in the same 60th of a second
Could always just say the same frame.

That reminds me...  Kej:  Do you have to hit the two buttons in the same frame to activate the Murder Beam?  My Emu can only slowdown, not frame-by-frame so I've never been able to see exactly how quickly you have to press the two, or if you really do have to press them at the same time.

I got the murder beam the first time i tried it. goodness you guys.  -_-

It has to be pressed at the same time, or at least within the same frame.
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
Yeah, same frame.
The plasma+spazer trick works because the game takes the controller input moves the cursor, then, thinking it's still in the list of boots (because that's where it *started* that frame), enables the current item it's on (plasma beam) and doesn't do the normal beam check of spazer and plasma.
Okay, I got it working in the end. It was a problem with my keyboard, and when I used a controller it worked first time.

Thanks for the help, although I didn't need it  laugh new
can anybody teach me how to get the energy tank after Botwoon above the quicksand?
Anywhere, everywhere
There's probably another way to get it, but I just midair morph (hold down jump while morphing really fast) into the tube.
You can get into that section of blocks from the right.
thats a great help! thanks!
I'd consider myself pretty decent at this game, having completed a 1:30 run before, but I recently picked the game up again after a LOOONG break and found myself unable to reliably do a horizontal shinespark. Can anyone give me a guaranteed way to do a horizontal shinespark every time, or give me a way to practice doing them?
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
ok
jump=J

Press J
Press and hold Right
Press J
No need to press jump a second time.  Just jump then left/right.  And make sure you press jump first, or else Samus will end up doing a spin jump.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
that doesn't work if your slow
it doesn't work for me.

i just shinespark straight up if i press jump.

Practice. This trick is little bit lucky.
Stuffs. Yar.
Hello everyone, this is my first post. Anyway, I've been trying to do the Murder Beam on the Gold Torizo, but my game keeps crashing. Any suggestions?
:EDIT: Ahh. It turns out I was facing right. :EDIT:
