I've only done that a handful of times before now, but it's kinda fun to follow the story sometimes. Especially when you realize that the newest games are about 1/3 to 1/2 way through the entire storyline. Going from Corruption to ROS is always an interesting leap as far as the technology and gameplay are concerned.

I had considered playing them in release order for once for this go around, but it doesn't hurt that Other M is right at the end of the timeline with only Fusion coming in afterward. Plus the fact that Super and Fusion are the last two in line doesn't hurt either. Always good to start and end with a bang, right? (Seeing as ZM, Prime, Super, and Fusion are probably my top four favorites in the series right now.)
Yeah that would be weirdgoing from MP3 to ROS, since that's basically going from the most advanced to the least.  I'm gonna try it.
I'm getting my money back on SSFIV. It's good, but not for me, I'm too Tekkenised.

My dad finally upgraded his R4 to the wood firmware. You know what that means? I can have a go at Chrono Trigger and DQ9. I just have to nick it off him when he's not looking.
Turns out Chrono Triger likes to freeze. I hate that.

I got the "good" ending of Irisu Syndrome. Fuck me that was insane. Just look at it:

And when you re-open the game:

Wow, that would've scared the hell out of me. It's a shame there's no english patch for the game, because I'm really interested now and the story seems important.

I saw the bat and promptly cacked myself. Then started giggling profusely. Or half-thinking "no no no no no NO"

Check the TV Tropes page. Then click the picture. The characters (well, two of them) are fucked up beyond normality. Guess which ones I'm talking about :D

Wait, so the "good end" wasn't a good end at all? Well, that much is obvious, I guess, but it's not the best ending? Everything I read about this game just confuses me even more.

Anyway, I just went and downloaded it and will probably play it later tonight. Should be fun.

Well, the "good" end is sort of a good end, as Irisu (the bunny girl) hasn't killed everyone, although get enough points, and Irisu's face changes, whilst something happens to the photo that's in the game folder. Although if you do well in the second mode, you get a happier ending. And if you do TOO well in the second mode (get enough points, or hit level 100) then something pops up in the irisu203 folder. It's full of plot twists and mind-fuckery. And that's oddly why I like it. Games that play around with the fourth wall make me want to play the game more.

None of which I can understand due to lack of translation patch. :(

That sounds pretty fun, but from what I understand there's no English version/patch? Sucks :(

Yeah, it's a shame. But there's a translationfull description of the story on TV Tropes, and I'm sure there's translations of the actual notes somewhere. Not knowing japanese can take some of the fun out of it, but the game itself's alright, and the fourth wall "funnies" aren't blocked by such a language barrier.

Yeah, some people at Facepunch got a hold of this game, and one page has a ton of translations of the text files and 50k cut-scene for the second game mode. It's here if you want to read it.

The game is either really easy or really hard. I can't tell which because I'm not sure if I understand the whole concept of what you are supposed to do and what kills you. Anyway, I unlocked the first two images so far. Nothing really creepy yet though.

Wow, I read through all that and the spoilers and stuff, sounds like a really neat game!
Finished playing Prime earlier and am now about 1/2 way through Hunters. Ended up subconsciously going for 100% on Prime early on by snagging everything in sight, so I ended up going with it in the end and decided the "collect them all" approach was going to happen. (Think I've decided to try for 100% in Super once I get there too, seeing as it would be fitting to do that with my two favorites.)

Had to stop playing Hunters for now since my left hand is starting to hurt a bit from holding the DS the way I was. Other than that, it's not as bad as I remember. Definitely my least favorite of the Metroid series because of how little it resembles the classic Metroid formula, but I'm still enjoying it nonetheless. Perhaps not playing it for a few years has something to do with that. Barely remembered any of the game going in, but as I'm playing things are coming back quickly once I encounter them.

I don't remember the single player of MPH really at all. I just remember the wifi matches.

I was so pro and HXC it was awesome.
Just finished Hunters after a 35 minute fight against Gorea because of two reasons:
- Didn't remember the order to the six switches that sets off the second phase, so I had to look it up online
- Got the weapon vulnerabilities reversed, so at least half of that time was either me firing with no damage being dealt, or else rushing around trying to gather ammo/health

But yeah, after finishing the game it's clear to me why I haven't played it as much as the other games in the series and why Hunters is my least favorite by far. I still enjoyed the game, don't get me wrong, but for the most part it is Metroid only in name.

That's an anti-piracy measure. You'll need a patch to fix that...
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Lotta work to emulate a SNES game.
He's playing the DS version, I think. That's why he's getting all that freezing.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I know he is, that's the joke.
Oh okay then, lol. But it is somewhat worth it trying out the DS version. It has a better translation, all the good things from the PS1 version, a slightly polished soundtrack (IMO), as well as a couple of neat bonus dungeons. It was the first non-Pokemon RPG I bought on my DS, and I definitely loved it.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
All of the extras in Chrono Trigger DS are pretty much bullshit, save for the bonus music. The only reason to play it is to play Chrono Trigger on your DS.
I can't be fucked to play SNES on my PC, my desk chair is a torture device. When they invent armchair computers, I'll be all over that.

Or if you don't like Ted Woolsey's translations, like me.
