It scares me that Wind Waker was the last properly good Zelda.
Wind Waker fucking owns why is this scary?
Because there has been 4 Zeldas since then.
NOT ONE OF THEM HAS BEEN GOOD
This is very irregular. Think about it. First game - good. Second game - bad. Then we have a golden age of ALTTP all the way up to Wind Waker (you can ignore the oracles if you want, I don't care for them). Since then, the most interesting new development was the fact that TP had quite good character models. That's it.
The first 20 or so times I played it, I had nothing to compare it to except the original zelda. It never really stood out from the series in my mind because the series didn't really exist yet.
To be quite honest, I don't care for either NES game. Being born in '93, the SNES and a select few 8bit games are about my limit as far as retro goes. The ZEldas are just too archaic for me.
I've never been able to get into AoL that much. I've tried playing it a bunch of times in the past and never got beyond the first dungeon/palace. Of the ones I have played that puts it at the bottom of the barrel, but I should probably give it a serious attempt one of these days and see if my opinion changes once I actually get somewhere in it.
I usually get bored within ten minutes because I don't particularly enjoy playing footsie with every enemy ever because Link can't be arsed to get a real goddamned sword to replace that toothpick he tries to fight with.
Well, if I've learned anything about you Ark, it's that we have vastly different opinions of the Zelda series since Spirit Tracks is one of my favorites as I've said before. (And I do enjoy Twilight Princess a lot too for what it's worth.) Only played Minish Cap that one time when I first got it so my memory of the game is very limited after all these years. I seem to remember considering it an "average" Zelda title back then, but who knows these days what I'd say about it given both the newer games that have come out since then and the simple fact that I'm older/more experienced.
Maybe after the StarCraft and Metroid kick I'll be on for the next few months I'll get around to playing some of those older Zelda titles again, provided the new games that Nintendo has coming down the pipe don't hog all of my time.
I bought the Persona Portable game today (came with an awesome hat that I will never wear outside my house unless its to some gaming thing).
The bad thing is, I forgot my PSP screen has been broken for the past year, so I had to get a new one. Oh and my PSP charger is completely missing, so I might need to buy a new one as well.
$85 to play a game. Bah.
EDIT: I guess it could be worse, I could be living in Australia.
What's the Persona series about, anyway? I've heard a few good things about it, but all I've seen from it are a bunch of bizarre looking enemy designs and emo-ish characters.
From what I played/saw on my friend's PSP its got like a final fantasy styled combat, and some kinda of weird pokemon thing where you get creatures and stuff or something, and since it takes place at a college (or high school, I forget) it has a sorta date-sim part to it.
Man, I forgot how brutal the last mission in Brood War really is. Took me four attempts before I was able to tough it out properly, but once I finally got to that last cutscene (one of my favorites from SC1) it was the greatest feeling. Always feels awesome when you break through a challenge such as that one, which is why I wanted to tough it out and not resort to using any of the codes just to get through the endgame. Wouldn't have felt right to have gone through all of the game (All six campaigns) and then stumble on the last mission and diminish the accomplishment. Especially since this is only the second time I've played through the entire Brood War storyline.
Now then, on to StarCraft 2! (Well, by this time tomorrow anyway since I'm going to be headed out to get it at midnight from Best Buy.)
Currently I'm Playing 'Marathon' in/at Tetris Friends. But I'm doing it in a particular way. There will be a first piece I set down, then (by sticking to this rule) it's as if I can't set any other pieces on the base of the tetrimino well/play field until I (break) that one/1st piece. It makes for a very interesting game. I try to build a bridge to one or both walls (depending if the main piece is at one side or in the middle), then I have to keep putting pieces that go down into holes, and eventually I can work it down close to the base, but it's difficult.... Or challenging (to me) anyways.

^That's online... My other gaming habit for the moment is Shadow Dancer (arcade). When I think about it it's kinda funny. There are enemies that throw knives and shoot at you, but they move so slow. I'm having a lot of trouble getting past the waterfall stage mainly due to the 3rd red Ninja that appears. I could use Ninja magic, but I'd rather not. Watching this guy's video inspired me to try.
Ah. Jump and Shoot shurikens. But the way they appear to work is to jump right onto you wherever you are when they leap off the ground. If I have too much trouble killing them - I wonder if I could jump before they do? Then they might try to hit where I was by the time I get back down and they'll over shoot and miss the platform? :-/
Now that my grand parents are leaving tomorrow I'm gonna start playing video games again, so I'm gonna get farther in Mass Effect, maybe some Torchlight, and hopefully finish Burnout Paradise.
I'm playing Rondo of Blood on my PSP, and loving it. It's definitely my second favorite of the classic platformer CVs, and the best in the series terms of its soundtrack, IMO.
