I just fire rockets at them when the option is there. Oh man I just remembered the worst Poison Zombie, that fucker in Episode 2 in the trashed rebel outpost. I had pretty much nothing in terms of ammo when he burst through that doorway, fuck him forever.

Also Heroes 3 has been making me angry. Stop giving me Water Walk in the level 4 Mage Guild, I do not want Water Walk there is no water on the map. All I want Town Portal, this is what I get for playing Rampart. Also some artifacts that do more than boost Eagle Eye would be nice. On the plus side I've also found two Castles so I'm guaranteed to win anyway. But goddamn.

guess there's also diplomacy and tactics though ...
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Tactics is actually really good since it allows you to put your dudes in much better positions than what they start off with, which can make a big difference against other heroes. Diplomacy can get you money sometimes iirc or at least get you some free fodder or something, usually more worthwhile just to fight though, but it's something. Eagle Eye does nothing for you.
Nothing.
Artifacts to boost its success rate are the biggest fuck you in history.

Finally finished that map. All that work building up my main hero to have Expert Ballistics and he never got to use it. Sad

The only real fight I could get him into was this big ass battle in the middle of nowhere against the the last CPU player's entire army, featuring way too many Ancient Behemoths and Wolf Raiders, a lot of the other guys, and some intensely shitty luck on my part that resulted in those Behemoths getting a second move on pretty much every turn. Easily the bloodiest battle I've fought, wish I'd gotten a screen shot of the casualty list afterward because it was amazing. Only my Grand Elves got out, relatively unscathed too, losing maybe 30 of the original 160 or so.

tactics might help in very rare situations where you'd want a few specific units next to each other or something. in general though it just makes your creatures easier to attack on the first turn. every good heroes player knows to wait every unit on their first turn, then attack once the enemy's moved up. tactics just fucks that up.

and lol nah, diplomacy is fucking useless. i like using my own creatures, thanks. it doesn't work on the stronger creatures, and i don't want random shitty units taking up space in my army. if you want to generate some money give estates to some secondary heroes.

but man, fuck ancient behemoths. aging ftl. unless they're on your side of course. ;)
Speaking of tactics...

Why would you play that game it is awful in every sense of the word.

It is immensely helpful in putting those slow ass motherfuckers that you use to protect shooters in the corner with said shooters so fliers can't go fucking things up. I don't care how carefully you order your dudes before entering the battle, their placement on the battlefield will always be stupid.

But you see, the fact that it can get you money at all puts it above Eagle Eye.

i just move the slow fuckers down to the shooters on the first turn. tactics is so useless.

Awesome game, screw the haters.

Tactics is the only final fantasy game that I actually got into and played more than four hours. It's really the only Final Fantasy game that I consider fun. (not trolling)

I've been wanting to get an emulator to play Tactics but I haven't bothered.

I'm not at the haunted mansion. Chances are I'll be out tonight, so I'll probably go on playing tomorrow.

Brookhaven was just as insane as in Silent Hill 2. Couldn't play this in the dark at all, let alone at night.
turned out my friends didn't plan as much as they had proclaimed to have planned. I'll be able to eventually finish sh3 today

Speaking of PS1 emulation, I've been playing Policenauts for the first time, and I'm liking it, a lot! A mystery plot is great every once in a while. And who could forget the awesome protagonists, Mel Gibson and Danny Gl- uh, I mean Jonathan Ingram and Ed Brown!

Policenauts is the best buddy cop game.

How far have you gotten?
The wandering Space Dragon
Just finished my super metroid speedrun, now, trying to decide between fusion and ZM. Also trying to beat Breath of Fire.

I'm about to meet that "Nine Stars" guy for the second time. I'm pretty sure I know who he is after completing that stupid crest puzzle, but who knows. I like how the game's unfolded so far. The writers managed to pull a pretty badass plot for a murder mystery.
I REALLY want to play Policenauts, but PSX emulation is such a pain in the arse, and that's the only one the english patch works for, right?
Yeah, the PS1 version is the only translation. But it's not such a pain if you ask me. Just use the pSX emulator (I linked it in a previous post on this page) and not ePSXe, that should solve all your problems. There's none of that plugins mumbo jumbo on that emulator.
Looks the business. I'll have to get round to sourcing an iso tomorrow or something.

Ah that puzzle, you'll get another puzzle later on that'll make you forget all about that one! Wink

But yeah, the plot is surprisingly good, I wouldn't expect too much from the mystery aspect though, the clues are pretty obvious and none of it is terribly complex as I recall. Still, it's well presented and even if you have everything prety well figured out it's fun to see where you were right and where you were just a bit off. I know I was feeling pretty smug about figuring out what was up with those capsules while all the characters were all "buuuuh?"

Well, looks like my guess was right about him being the pharmacist... But, HOLY SHIT! I didn't expect him to get killed like that. Lucky I took care of those massquitos and that hitman in the space suit easily. Moving on...
Okay, that bomb defusing sequence was pretty damn intense, I gotta admit! I died like three times during the second wire cutting part, but it was still fun regardless of that.
haha. the haunted mansion is pretty cool. i liked how the camera got forced away from the exit door in the second room (the one with the lightening strike)

but that red light .. what the f. now I gotta experience those shock effects again? ugh
