I'm enjoying the heavy rain that we've been having all weekend. It might make controlling cars or riding your bike crap, but there's just something special about riding your bike in the rain.

The first time you go out for a bike-ride through the rain is the most ex(c)iting anyway. You can easily get all your enjoyment out of it in a one-day session. So I recomend to just try it once.

ANYWAY I don't know why I decided to do that. But. I've been playing pokemanz some more, got my Dialga to 20, Luxio to 20, my baby-lucario thing to 20, and my quilava to 20. I still have to hatch the mystery eggI found on my Pearl game.

Further into Cursed Mountain. Combat is... strange. Very slow paced. Not neccesarily bad, as the whole game is slow paced, but it does feel a little weird. I also don't know how seriously I should be taking it when I'm shooting ghosts with a magic knife mounted on an ice pick.

Still enjoying things though. The atmosphere remains great.
Just beat Fragile Dreams. Great game, although its probably not everyone's cup of tea. It's very slow paced with a combat reminiscing of Silent Hill 1+2. Good thing the leveling system makes fighting at least rewarding.

The plot's essence isn't anything new at all, but the execution was good enough to make the story somewhat interesting over the course of the game. The game leaves some questions open, forcing you to either read stuff on the internet or to do another playthrough and using your brain.
Too bad a second playthrough right off the bat isn't what most people would be wanting to do after having played this game. Lack of a NG+ mode and the general slow pacing doesn't make this a title with lots of replay value.

That said .. I missed some memory items (items that tell stories). Annoyingly I'd have to replay the game too for getting those. Also not just replay, but search about every inch of the game's map. Annoying. They should have made all of them accessible as a reward for beating the game.

For now I'm going to finish my third playthrough of Shattered Memories tomorrow. Damn, there's always something new to discover with this game. o:

Nice try, sweety.
But your comparison doesnt really fit :P

A movie-game consisting mostly of limited pseudo-decisions does nowhere come close
to the infinite depth of real life.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
If you want a game with enough 'depth', try Disgaea, with its infinite 100-level dungeons to explore. Shocked  It's no wonder I can never manage to finish these games.  'Must...explore...just...one...more...get...more...attack...'
What kind of sick bastard would make the save screen button combo in Link's Awakening the reset button in Oracle of Seasons?! And why am I thick enough to REPEATEDLY press it and reset my game?!
start + select + a + b?
Yep :'(

Every time I think "I should save" in Oracle (which is a lot, I habitually save every couple of minutes in GB games) I hit a+b+start+select, resetting my game.

are you talking about the original version? if so then that came out years before seasons, so you've got things backward. most gbc games will reset when you press start-select-a-b afaik. if you meant the dx version then weird, i would have never thought pressing that combination would save rather than reset.

Wasn't it just a+b+select for LA?
Just came back from buying myself a DS lite.

I also got a copy of Fire Emblem DS for 10 euros. Thought that was a good buy and went out there with a smug, face.
Now I see dozens of really bad ratings. And I've already accidentally broken the game's seal (somehow got my finger into the boxe's opening slot and broke the seal there. Guess I've been too used to the US and JP boxes that don't have such a big opening gap. :p)

Well, it's just 10 euros ...

FEDS is worth 10 euros imo. Not the best FE, but for cheap it's still a decient buy.

I've always done all buttons in black & white Link's Awakening, and adjusting that habit to Oracle is just... khaaaan

I dont know if anyone's played this or said something but i dont feel like goin through 173 pages so ima mention it.
Your basically stranded on a desert island w/ monkeys lions parrots ect.
You make tools and build shelter and fire and that kind of stuff
It has really good graphics for a free PC game
Here's the link

Oh hey, they came out with a second Stranded game.

I'll probably check it out.

Welp, Cursed Mountain is wrapped up, leaving me to focus most of my attention on Rune Factory Frontier. Overall it's a net improvement on the DS games, which in turn were an improvement of the Harvest Moon series they spun out of, so that's good. The only annoyance in the whole Runey thing, where you have to distribute these spirits amongst all the different areas and make sure they don't die out. It's kind of a hassle, and using the harvester item to gather them up is way more time consuming and imprecise than it needs to be (can't I select which type of Runey I'm gathering, game?). Once I got the hang of it though it's just become another element of the daily routine and I'm kind of rocking it now, with 3 areas now in Prosperity, which I think means crops grow at least 1-2 days faster.

final thoughts on cursed mountain?

Ending was kinda weak. They seemed to be building towards some kind of twist to the whole thing but never delivered. Other than that, though, I quite enjoyed it. The final few parts where you get out of the temples and it's just you vs. the mountain + some ghosts were great.

Be forewarned that there are some wonky gesture inputs that require you to thrust forward with the remote and/or nunchuck  that often don't register, and they become more frequent and more necessary the further along you get. Every time I thought I figured out the magic juju to get it to register every time, I got one that just wouldn't work. Not game breaking, but a notable annoyance.

heh i guess we've come to expect that from wii exclusives by now unfortunately ;(

just finished chapter 7 of valkyria chronicles. really loving this game so far. it has some flaws i think but i think they may just be due to my expectations from the game. so basically it's not like other strategy games at all because it involves a lot of trial and error. though usually you can still come back even after getting your ass kicked a bit.
so it actually reminds me a lot of metroid prime in that the first few times you just have to figure out what's going on, then once you understand you can just come in and rape.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I was continuing my Star Ocean 2 game, and after about three hours of grinding (the enemies leap up in difficulty), the console crashed.  I sighed, and turned off. Evil or Very Mad
Did you play on an old regular PSone? I'd suggest to play these games on a PS2.

Got my copy of SoulSilver today, no figurine included though. Guess I placed my preorder too late, having preordered it a few days before release. :p
But I'm going to beat Fire Emblem before starting with that. Currently at Prologue V.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
No.  I have got a PSX and a PSOne (both chipped for added pleasure), but it was actually on my PS2.

I finished a battle, the screen blacked out, but never reloaded the world map. aiwebs_027

Might be the game, might be the disc but maybe the consoloe's drive is dieing.

Also fuck it, I'm going to play SoulSilver and FireEmblem simultaneously.
So Link's Awakening is infamous for having incredibly inspired, interesting and innovative dungeon design. Oracle of Seasons, by comparison, has so far been a series of mini dungeons with difficult bosses thrown in. I'm at the boss of the 5th dungeon.
