Too lazy to read through everything I missed, just wanted to warn PS3 Bayonetta owners that Sony released a patch to cut load times, and it's WONDERFUL. Things that would take 10 seconds to load (like... pausing) now take 2, or none. Basically what they do is let you install the game on the HD. The game is like 400 times more enjoyable with the update. Just pop in the disc (with any Internet connection active) and you'll be prompted to update.

Played and finished Non-Stop Climax difficulty, and now I'm done with the game for a while. I still have a lot to do, find all Alfheims, buy everything, find all birds, get Pure Platinums and stuff. But essentially I've played through the game four times already. Don't wanna get sick of it. I'll get back to it in a few months.

Bayonetta is the only game I played this year so far. Today I'm starting a new Ninja Gaiden Sigma run. Torn between Normal (for the *almost* fair difficulty) and Hard (for the cooler Golden Scarab prizes).

I'm going to Florida in two weeks, got a little bonus cash, so I might be able to pick up more games than I thought. Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Muramasa might become must buys.

I'm playing through NSMB Wii and trying to get all of the star coins. The third star coin in the world 3 ghost house eludes me, even with the guide!  It tells me that there is a hidden area along a wall and has picture showing me where the hidden area is, but I still can't find it!  Pulling my hair out at this point.

EDIT:  Nevermind.  I found it.  I've been trying to only glance in the guide so that the info I get from it is minimal.  I studied it more closely and found that I wasn't even in the right area (there are two shafts that are nearly identical).  I find it strange that they placed a star coin on a route that takes you to a warp point, since this requires you to play through that level more than once to get all the star coins.

They pull many pranks like that. Some are actually quite clever, like a door right in your face that you REALLY won't think of opening.
Mister ...
Just got done streaming Megaman X for a couple friends, and let me tell you that it was the best run of Megaman X I've ever had, despite not beating it.

I managed to pull off the glitch someone mentioned waaaay back, where if in Chill Penguin's stage you shoot the first igloo on the top while dashing it'll freeze the game.  Only instead of freezing, it glitched, took me to the weapon-get screen, displayed the code, and sent me back to the intro stage.  I kept my weapon, but lost my dash upgrade.  I went back, got the dash upgrade, finished the stage normally, warped out since there was no boss, and was again sent to the Highway.  Repeated, only used the Escape Unit after getting dash, and moved on.

In Armored Armadillo stage, I got near the end, but for some reason it wouldn't let me jump off the trolley.  After spawning behind the second crusher, I took a few steps forward only to get sent to the Weapon Get screen again, then the highway.  Took on Storm Eagle after completing the intro stage for the 4th time, completed that without any problems, same with the rest of the bosses.  Started Sigma 1, got to the last room just before the Spider boss, and next thing I knew it faded out and took me back to the Highway stage with all weapons, subtanks, and max energy, just no armor.  At this point I promptly gave up trying and just quit, figuring the game wouldn't let me complete it anyway.

Despite the minor frustration of having to get armor pieces again each time, it was really one of the most amusing X runs I've ever had, and would love to do it again sometime.

One shall stand, one shall ball.
Played a little more of the Majora's Mask game I started a while ago, I wnet and grabbed the Hookshot from the Pirate Hideout (Yay sequence breaking!), then tore right through Snowhead and got all of the stray fairies somehow. I hadn't gotten the Snowhead fairies since my first playthrough so it was all done on vague memories of here they might be.

Then I handed my sword over to the blacksmith and spend entirely to long trying to win the Goron race. I hate that race so much. Still, I did everything I needed to do for the Gilded Sword done on day one, got the increased magic meter, then went back time and took care of the Romani Ranch business with no trouble. I figure I'll see what I can do with Ikana next time.
The Goron Race isn't that difficult, is it? Just keep to the inside, don't go up ramps (they slow you down) and only bother to pick up magic if you really need it or it's where you were gonna roll anyway.

I mentioned this awhile ago, and was gutted when it kicked you back to the start, as I had high hopes for a massive time-saver for the TASers.  Alas, it was not to be.Sad
Just beat cave story for the first time (didn't get the best ending, but who cares). I HATE that freaking Core boss! Now it's time for me to try it again, this time actually rescuing Curly and going through that weird Hell stage.

It's not difficult, it's just very random. There really is no telling what'll happen when a Goron bumps into you and they bump into you all the goddamn time sometimes you'll just slow down abit and have to corect your course a little and sometimes you get thrown way off and wind up going way outside on a turn or you just lose all of your speed and as a result your spikes and God help you if that happens anywhere outside of the first half of the course cause you're not getting them back.

The race could have been fun if you had some control over anything.

The glided sword is the first upgrade, right? Because I don't know of a way to get the final upgrade on day 1, even though it'd be awesome (because faster).

I'm on CD3 in FF IX now. Definitely my new favorite FF (with 8, 10 and 12 there isn't much competition anyways. Haven't played 7 in farf too long).

It's the final upgrade, I meant that I cleared the temple, opened up the race track, won the race and started the Razor Sword upgrade on day one. It's sort of my personal challenge for when I reach Snowhead. Clear the temple as fast as possible so I can get the Gilded Sword that cycle rather than coming back to beat Goht on the next one like I had to the first time I played. I was very unhappy when I found out I needed to win the race a second time because I took too long with the temple that time. Never again.
Ready to internet!
Playing through Pokémon Red again to try out some of the more interesting bugs, like evolving stone pokémon without using an evolution stone.

Also, I caught the second Snorlax with just over yellow health. It shook once in a Great Ball, one Pokéball missed it completely, then a second Pokéball caught it. Rather interesting.

not really. it's just chance. :P

Been kinda bored with my 80 DK, so I rolled a druid. But I don't think any of you guys play WoW, so whatever

Quite some epic chance, if I might add. A couple of weeks ago, I encountered an Abra on Sapphire, and lobbed a Great Ball at it, catching it in one go. Not too impressive, but my friend was watching and couldn't believe my luck XD
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
In the earlier versions of the game, it seemed more random, with later versions placing more emphasis on their status and stuff.  I recall replaying Sapphire a month or so back, and was struggling to get a fast Pokemon that could put Abra to sleep, so I gave up, and started just reloading my game, getting into a fight with an Abra, and immediately hurling a normal Pokeball at him.  It only took about twenty minutes before I caught one, and a lot of that was spent running from the other fights.  Not too bad, I thought.

So I was playing Shining Force II today and, uh, I made Kiwi actually useful. I even managed to promote him. He was still my first sub out but he probably would have been more useful than Elric was for the next few battles. I wouldn't say he gets to be good or anything, but he can chip in his share of damage and draws enemy attacks like a motherfucker.

Leaving him in front of the enemy horde to chip away at a couple dudes while everyone else runs around to do the actual murdering works astoundingly well.

I always got stuck in Shining Force. I get to that one part where I have to go to some town  (I'm vaguely thinking of a circus for some reason, I haven't played in a few years). It was after the very beginning part when the main town you start in gets all deaded, and you have to go some place.

I could never figure out how to get there, and I just kept restarting my profile. I did that like 5 or 6 times before I got bored.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I recall a similar situation when I first played it (may not be the same town), and you had to go along the river bed in the caravan thing.  Still love the game.  Still hate the evil spirit things, who seem to move one bajillion spaces to your few.

Yeah the lack of any kind of overworld map is probably the biggest weakness of the two games.
i promoted kiwi once as a kid after i heard he was crazy good in that second class. iirc i was slightly underwhelmed but he was far from as shitty as he starts out.
I'm playing MP3 on hypermode.  Who's bullshit idea was it to make the first boss 10 times harder than the last boss?  The Mogenar fight just took me 35 frikkin minutes!  My wrist as aching.  He regenerated his final red orb like 5 times before I finally nailed it.  Seriously though, there is a serious issue here of completely disregarding any ideas of difficulty progression, they were WAY off with this setup.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
Mogenar is the reason I have never beat it on Hypermode. That fight is just pure bullshit. I may give it another shot with the Trilogy version though... eventually.

In other news, Mass Effect 2 is still awesome. Every change made from the original I was first skeptical about has now grown on me, and it's going to be really hard to put up with the first if I ever go back and finish my renegade lesbian file.
Actually, for me it wasn't as difficult as I expected to play through 1 after finishing 2. Yeah, the first three required planets in 1 are a bit of a pain still, but Virmire, Ilos, and the Citadel are still as great as ever in my mind.

I ended up going through 2 with an Infiltrator who was full paragon half renegade by the end of the game. She is definitely my most neutral character of the ones I've done before, except I naturally lean towards Paragon so it wasn't as balanced as I was originally intending her to be. I finished her run and then realized I had never tried a full renegage female Shepard, so I went back and did 1 with that character in order to get ready for 2 again. (She's only done the first two required missions in 2 though, so I haven't gone that far with her yet.)

How dare you make me read 3/4 of the way through your post before realizing that it has nothing to do with hypermode, mogenar, or even MP3.
