@ mista_smegheneghan:

The first few times I beat MM, I wasn't even aware of the existence of the Fierce Deity mask.  The final fight is really alot of fun without it, so much so that I'm tempted to not even put on the Oni Link mask at all.  But then I wouldn't see the coolest thing in all of Zelda, so I can't pass it up.
They made the final fight TOO easy with FD mask, says I.

EDIT:  why the fuck isn't my quote button working?  every time I click on it, it just ends up taking me to the top of the page.

sorry about that. we're working on a fix.
You better fix it and soon, dammit!  I pay good money for this site.

it's fixed. we thank you for your generous monetary support.
YAY I beat bowser on NSMB Wii!

Throughout the game, I suppressed my completionist urges and didn't go nuts trying to get the star coins.  Of course ninty had to have that come back to haunt me, as I need all of the star coins from each world to unlock the levels in world 9.  Fortunately, I only needed to get one star coin in world 1 so I could at least check out the first of the world 9 levels.  Damn, I bet it is going to take me more time to go back and get all of those star coins than it took me to play through the whole game!
I just figured out that I can easily do all the tricks acquired to get the transformation masks and the hookshot in Majora's Mask early. Cool
Though I can't really pull off bombchu floating. Has anyone here ever done that?

Yeah, it's definitely going to take longer. I tried to start collecting all these coins some weeks ago, but gave up really fast because I couldn't seem to finish one of the earlier world 2 levels while collecting allthree star coins. : /

Once it shows up in the mail this afternoon, I'll be spending a good portion of my time playing Mass Effect 2. (Finally!)

Edit: Oh look, a new preview button for posts. When did I miss that?

I was trying to beat Double Dragon 1 in less than 11 min last night just because I saw a TAS of someone beating the game in 8 mins but i keep getting my ass kicked by the 2 abobos that break through the walls in mission 3. D=

IT'S GON' RAIN!
Just played the first few hours of my latest Majora's Mask playthrough. Though I didn't really do much else than activating the woodfall owl statue and getting the Goron's mask.

What really irks me is that I wasted quite some time by not having gotten the bomb mask and bomb bag on the very first cycle. : /
Ready to internet!
I just did a quick run-through of Super Castlevania IV on Normal mode. And by quick I mean 95 minutes. The first life I lost was in the money room of Level 9, where a wall-dragon smacked me off the edge, but then I got to the room with the spike wheel. By the time I got to the boss room I had two lives left and got slaughtered by the first boss.
Mister ...
I can do the first 2 levels I think of Super Castlevania 4 without dying.  I believe I will die later on, but not enough to get a game over.  I think it's in level 3 where you have to jump onto one of those rotating platforms and immediately jump back off again otherwise you're headed for a pit.  Some reason that one jump always gives me trouble.
I can go through the game in less than an hour without dying once.  I really should get back on Castlevania Adventure: Rebirth and start building my skills on that one.

It would've been quicker if I didn't have such a need to pick everything up, and if I didn't suck so damn much at B-2 (the spike wheel, and the floating platforms). Being slaughtered by Slogra (or Gaibon, whatever the gun-spear-skeleton thing's called) and having to Continue didn't really help, either, as well as having my sister in the room mocking my deaths and reactions to said deaths.

At one point, I grabbed onto some collapsing stairs, and didn't walk up the steps, falling into the abyss. My reaction was "Whup, down I go.", made funnier by the fact that I was rattling off a rant on why I died so often on that one level and cut myself off with that.

Anyway, tomorrow I might try Hard Mode, if Tatsunoko vs Capcom doesn't arrive (Gameplay pre-orders ftw)

I'll definately get that as soon as something else comes out to make getting 2000 points worth it. I'm kinda waiting on Cave Story, if they ever decide to release it.

I enjoyed Lost Winds 2 when I first got it, but lost interest partway into it.  There were certain rooms that required you pull off a string of moves, and one mistake meant starting over.  I can only pull off some of the moves half of the time, so trying to do a bunch of them in a row without messing up can be very frustrating.

I'm mostly referring to a large room where you have to move some fruit all over the place.

I don't really like old-style CV though. I'm a post-Symphony dude.

Almost through Non-stop Infinite Climax mode in Bayonetta. On the whole, it seems a lot easier than Dante Must Die mode in DMC. That's probably due in no small part to Bayonetta's generous checkpoints, but it also could have something to do with the fact that I'm quad-wielding rocked launchers. I'm also totally ignoring score and just getting through it to get Pillow Talk. I imagine trying to Pure Platinum it would be an absolute nightmare.

Speaking of which, I'm seriously considering just buying Jeanne the cheaty way instead of doing the platinum thing. Grinding for 5 million halos seems quite a bit less tedious than bothering with platinums. I'll also probably cheat myself the Climax Brace, because getting all achievements/crows is kinda lame, but I'm definitely gonna try my hand at Father Rodin without it first.
Played a bunch of Mass Effect 2 yesterday, and practically every moment was awesome in its own way. Pretty much everything that made the first one great has been raised to a whole new level, and so far there's nothing that I can really complain about.

Favorite part so far surrounds collecting a specific character:
Garrus is back as a squadmate, and the entire section where you have to go in and find him was great. What makes it my favorite part is the reunion between Shepard and Garrus once you find out he's the guy you're looking for, because it really does make it look like Shepard cares about the old squadmates like you would a close friend. They handled those interactions very well in my book. The scenario surrounding getting Garrus out of that location is great too, and the combat is without a doubt more intense and faster paced this time around, which only added to that sequence.

Yeah, so anyone who has interest in Mass Effect 2 should play it when they can, because I'm having a blast and I'd expect that anyone who loved the original will feel similarly to how I do. Lots of small nods to the original and what you did in that game, which is KEY to making this feel like a breathing, living galaxy.

Tatsunoko vs Capcom is insane.

It looks awesome. Keep us updated on the insanity.

How does it control? Is it nunchuck and, if so, how is it utilised?

You've got a number of control methods; Wiimote on its side, Wiimote+Nunchuk, Classic Controller and GameCube controller. I've only tried the CC so far, and it works well. You can double jump, or super jump (and then do a jump after that), back dash by either double-tapping a direction or holding a direction and pressing R (which is all three attack buttons) on the CC/GC controller. There's something on the Wiimote/Wiimote+Nunchuk called a Mega Crash button, which I'll look into later.

The air movement can be controlled rather well if you know what you're doing, as you can perform dashes in mid-air and attack to slow your descent (or speed it up with some characters). A lot of the attacks are simple to pull off, and you can string them together so that the opponents can't escape. You can call your partner with the B button (or Z for the Nunchuk) and they can use a pre-set attack (Roll throws a bucket of water, Viewtiful Joe throws a bomb), tag in with a flying kick and do quite a few other things that I'd describe if the instruction booklet didn't confuse me. If the partner's helping the fighter with an attack and the opponent catches the partner with an attack, the attack'll do more damage than usual.

I'm probably just saying things you already know, but the last 1-on-1 game I played was probably... Soul Calibur 2 or Tekken 3.

The arcade mode is a little odd, as the final enemy just appears out of nowhere and has three forms (with small health refills for each defeat) and the active fighter that defeats it gets their ending unlocked, you don't get both characters' endings. One thing that's stuck out so far is Roll's Hyper Combo attack. One heals her (or hits an enemy if they're in the way), another is a stronger version of one of her attacks, with a swipe added to the end, but the last one's the strongest and uses the most Hyper Combo power. She brushes an area so fast that it causes a fire, and if the opponent gets caught on fire, she pulls out a bucket about the size of a swimming pool and dumps it on the opponent!

It's insane and I freaking love it.
