I've slept for only about 2 hours in the last 35 hours.  I'm sure that my fingers would be in pain if I could feel anything.  My retinas are fried and I'm cross-eyed.  Got a text message from the game store telling me that Dark Void will be there tomorrow.  Guess I'll trade in Bayonetta (ducks) and see if this one is worth two shits.  I have to say that it's been one disappointment after another with my PS3.  I hope DV changes that, but I'm not optimistic.  The reviewers gave it like a 7 while they gave Bayonetta a 9, and I didn't care for Bayonetta.  The letters on my computer screen are changing colors and running around as I type them, it almost looks like they're moshing.  omg....time for bed !!

i'm interested in hearing what you think of dark void. it looks like it could be a winner but it also looks like it could be really shitty. it's capcom though, so i've still got high hopes.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
I played the demo and I'm still at a loss of what to think of DV. On the one hand, the flight controls are great and it looks like it'll be cool to take off whenever you want (the demo is mostly flying though). On the other hand, ground combat is the same tired cover-and-shoot mechanics I was sick of after the first Gears of War. I'm gonna wait and see on this one, I think.
Finished Brookhaven Hospital. I'm also already 7 hours into the game, which seems to be a lot considering I beat Silent Hill 1 in less than 6 hours.

One of my friends has got me playing I Wanna Be The Guy.  It really is frustrating, but not so hard that I want to throw something out the window.  I checked out an LP to use as a guide, so I do know what I'm in for.  It's just a matter of actually completing it.

You will feel very elated once you've finished it. What difficulty did you start on?
Mister ...
I started on hard, pretty much to show off the challenge to my friends.  After spending a half-hour in the first 4 rooms (start, two upper, one lower), I gave up at their request and went on Normal difficulty for the extra save points.  I managed to get to Bowser, and actually got to the third form, but died and just haven't tried again.  :\

Only time I actually play this is when I'm streaming it for my friends, otherwise I'd have at least the one orb by now.  :P
I just started playing IWBTG.  It's frikkin hard.  It's alot more fun to watch people play it on youtube than it is to actually play it.

That's true. One guy went insane trying to defeat Mecha-Birdo.

But every so often, whenever I see one of these games, I think "I could do so much better than them" and for once, I did :P

Granted, I had a USB controller, but still.

I've played dark void for about 45 mins.  It's the exact same controls as Uncharted: duck & cover, L1 and R1 for aiming/firing, etc.  I haven't made it very far since I still haven't figured out what has caused any of my deaths.

In the beginning there was a short part of the game where you flew using the jetpack.  The controls for flying are quite complicated and sensitive.  I found myself either turning way too fast or way too slow.  It lasted for about 5 minutes and I can't tell if I even hit anything, nor could I tell what was shooting me when I got hit.  The sequence ended either automatically or by something I did, I can't tell which.  In any case, I'm glad it was over because I was getting pretty nauseated.
I'm not up to the learning curve needed for a game that doesn't seem to have any parts that ease you into it like a tutorial masked as an actual scene.  Gonna play something else while my stomach settles down.
Mister ...
I was going to try to get my controller to work with IWBTG, but I said "screw it" as I didn't feel like trying to make the buttons bind to keys as I don't have to do that for any of my other games or emulators.  Buttons are pretty close to Cave Story's as well, so it's not too bad.  :P
Trying to play EarthBound again, and while I usually don't have a profound liking of this game, I'm willing to give it another shot. So far, no opinion-altering event has occurred yet...
red chamber dream
there aren't many standout events in earthbound. it's the general stuff like the atmosphere, enemies, and music. definitely a different breed than more recent rpgs.

I just went and checked all four of the boxes under 'joystick' and started using my gamepad.  Not sure what the four boxes thing is all about, but it worked.
OK, I've decided to not even pick up Dark Void again.  Dammit.  Looking at other forums, it seems almost nobody likes it and IGN actually gave it a 5, which is borderline terrible.  All that just lowers any optimism I had about getting into the game to almost zero.

I just recently read about 'Darksiders' and I think I will get that when I throw my copy of Dark Void on the counter at gamestop tomorrow.  Anyone tried that title yet?

Darksiders: own and love it. It's esentially the only well-done Zelda clone I've evet played, with combat/character growth taken from God of War. There's actually barely an original concept in the entire game as it also welches from Prince of Persia and even Portal. But it welches SO WELL that it's hard to care. Also, phenominal art.

But then, you didn't like Bayonetta so I dunno how much our tastes match.
red chamber dream
darksiders looks mildly appealing but the whole apocalypse/demons v. angels/killing gods theme is getting pretty old, and i've never even played that kind of game. god of war, bayonetta, darksiders, etc don't appeal to me at all for some reason.
it might be because i'm too much of a fan of adventure games, so playing something like dmc or bayonetta where it's pretty much all combat or running toward more combat is incredibly boring to me. darksiders being a zelda clone might be cool but the setting is just so bleh.

i did grab 'splosion man tonight though. very simple and very fun, even refreshingly so. but nowhere close to wario land: shake it, the last platformer i very much enjoyed.

Ark, there are exploration, platforming, and puzzle-solving elements to DMC/Bayonetta, though obviously not as much as an adventure game.

And as I've said before, Darksiders is the most colorful apocalypse yet.
red chamber dream
yeah it's all lame though. they feel shoveled in, much like the combat in eg zelda. i just much prefer the latter over the former.

Which games are you basing this off of?

If you say DMC, DMC2 or Ninja Gaiden I will hit you.

EDIT: You can add DMC4 to that list as well. Actually, the more I think about it, the more I realize I'm only sticking up for DMC3 and Bayonetta.
Just finished Mass Effect for the third time in preparation for #2 next week.

Maxed out pistol talent + Spectre pistol + marksman ability + incendiary ammo = Fried Saren, anyone? Honestly, I was so overpowered at the end to the point where it wasn't even funny, especially when you take into account I wasn't specifically trying to set myself up for that and it just sort of happened as I leveled up.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Played the hell out of Metroid Prime for the last hour and a half. Haven't played it in far too long and it definitely showed. The frigate was all kinds of sloppy as was Flaagrah and pretty much all of Magmoor on the way to Phendrana. On the plus side SJF was less bothersome than I expected and I totally owned the shit out of Phazon Mines until Phazon Processing Center because I'm retarded and suck at getting out of there without Spider. Overall it went pretty well despite my typical inconsistent play quality, especially considering how long it's been since I played.

Prime is too good.
Mister ...
Holy fuck.  The Ghosts and Goblins path was the first area to make me truly rage.  I mean, holy fuck.  Those moving spikes in the first area were just ... FUCK MAN.  Bosses beaten so far:  Bowser, Dracula, Mike Tyson, and Mecha-Birdo.  Currently in the Metroid area, and I'm PISSED OFF GODDAMNIT about how there's no extra save point in easy from when you first enter the area to Mother Brain herself.  Oh well.  /yelling

Hopefully taking a break from the game for awhile to calm myself down will help.  Fuck you, IWBTG, just fuck you.
Playing darksiders now.  I'm about 45 mins into it and I can definitely see the GoW comparisons, but really can't see the Zelda comparisons at all yet.  I like how it eases you into the game and slowly presents your abilities to you as you need them, then requires you to try it before progressing.  This takes away that overwhelmed feeling that I get from alot of new games, I don't want to have to take a fucking class just to get into the game.
Yeah so I'm definitely liking it so far.

Heheheheheh.

If you're collecting the items, there's one in the Metroid Area which you'd better get when you have the chance.

And the Mother Brain boss was difficult, mainly because of the Cheerios and Acid Drop shooters.
Mister ...
Items?  I know I saw what looked like a gun in the Ghosts and Goblins area, but that was the path that led away from Mecha Birdo.  I haven't seen anything yet in the Metroid area unless it's that well hidden (probably so).

I can see it now.  You enter the empty room, you hear Protoman's whistle, he drops in, drops the energy balancer, teleports out.  As you go to grab the item, Apples from nowhere home in at you from all four directions.
