Glad John and family made it out, I was rooting for them. :v

Beating RDR1 after spending a good chunk of time in RDR2 post-game is depressing as fuck, man. All of John and Abigail's efforts to give Jack a better life amounted to nothing.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I mean, not necessarily, the only thing that has to happen in RDR's epilogue is the duel with Ross. He can go on to do anything after that. He's got a ranch and a pile of money from those treasure maps. He has options they never had, giving him the tools to live in the civilized west was really what it was all about. They did good.

But the game literally mentions that ranches and farming are getting outmoded in the region by factories and other more modern occupations. Who the hell is gonna help Jack run the ranch anyway? He's got no friends or family left, and honest help is hard to find outside of maybe the Geddeses and McFarlanes.

looks a bunch of people have seen it

aw my other vid is too large, but you basically fly over everything and can't interact with trainers or items, or leave the area

i think you can get out by switching the pokemon you have out of the ball, or with the fly hm replacement
ok is the aspect ratio of that video fucked or do you have a quadrillion to nine ratio tv?
red chamber dream
i think it's just an optical illusion
red chamber dream
oh so i don't think it's a glitch after all. when you beat the game charizard (and a few other mons) let you do it on any route in the game. i guess it's only on that one route where you could always do it
red chamber dream
haha you can encounter flying pokemon when you're up there. pretty cool
sounds awsome lol

just began playing. got a good impression so far, game at least looks  pretty good in motion

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
This is a big game for OG GB. And I'm glad it's a big game without any blatant filler or massive grinding like Minish Cap. I finished LA in 5 days, all hearts and upgrades, at a pretty chill pace. The route is very linear, which isn't my favorite style of top-down Zelda, but I read that there's some fun unintended stuff you can do to change that. Plus the whole adventure is ridiculously polished and varied. The challenge is never quite high, but it still builds up nicely inside the dungeons and from one dungeon to the next. There's none of that feeling from recent Zeldas where it's like you're playing a 40-hour tutorial. The only thing that I was expecting and it didn't happen was a full platformer dungeon. Would've been cool.

I like being able to equip two items and have the sword on B. They still could've made a couple of items permanent, like the bracelets. Why force the player to change equipment just to pick up some random vase? Most Zelda games already have picking up items as default, and even when you have to earn it, it's a fixed ability as soon as you grab the upgrade.

Sometimes the overworld feels too much like a maze, which is something I noticed in Minish Cap as well... you want to cross like 5 squares, and it looks simple, but that tiny path requires more zig-zagging and item switching than it appears. It's not a huge deal once you know where to go, but this being my first playthrough, hitting my head on a wall every other screen got a little old. I wish there was (real) fast travel with multiple warps and all.

Regardless, I enjoyed LA a ton. It really does have a bizarre dream vibe... all the Nintendo cameos, 2D platforming, 4th wall breaks. It had a good story and dialogue too. My favorite bit was the one kid who asked Link where he's from and it absolutely blew his mind that there's a place called "Outside".

By the way, oh man, the Boomerang is mad OP in this game. It 1-shots everything, including bubbles and those winged demons in Turtle Rock. I was wondering why the Boomerang of all weapons is a secret in LA... I was so disappointed when I found it that I traded it back, haha. Only later I decided to give it a try, and holy moly was I wrong.

I hear the DX version is even better. I'll try to play it soon-ish.
Link's Awakening has my favorite overworld of any Zelda hands down. The puzzle-like structure never bothered me much, instead it kept it interesting. But I can see how the item switching can be a turn off for someone who plays the game today. That never bothered me too much as a kid.

LA annoyed me for:

Item Switching.  I really hated having to unequip my sword to do running jumps.
That evil 'This looks Heavy' text that comes up if you go anywhere near a vase without the bracelet on
That evil text that comes up every single time you find an acorn or triangle.  I used to dread finding them, and I think every 5th enemy or so drops them.
Some of the dungeons are really tough to figure out what to do or where to go.  Like Eagle Tower.
The way you get hung up on the flute in the menu.
I've lately been playing Zelda 1 for the first time.  With help from some friends who know mre than I do about the game.

Here's how things have gone so far:

discover dungeon 3
get to boss, get creamed
run around
discover dungeon 1
clear dungeon 1 easily
clear dungeon 3 with some difficulty
clear dungeon 4 easily
discover dungeon 8
nope out of dungeon 8
am told about the manual's spoiler pack
discover dungeon 2 and clear it
discover dungeon 6
fail at dungeon 6
run around looking for extra heart containers
finally get magic sword
still struggling at dungeon 6
red chamber dream
sounds about right
Been playing Darksiders 3.  Definitely disappointed with this game.  There isn't one thing about it that isn't inferior.  Constant framerate issues, even freezing sometimes to load in the middle of action.  The combat system is horrid.  If you lock onto enemies, the camera angle changes to eye level so you can no longer see the enemy you're locked on to since your own body is in the way.  Dodging is so delayed that you can't really do it on the fly during combat.  You just have to stand there and wait for the enemy to attack and then time the dodge.  Dodge is completely unresponsive if you're attacking at all, and the attack animations are long.  You can only use healing items in-game, not from the menu.  To use them, you have to be standing still and press and hold up on the D-pad.  During the action, you never get to stand still long enough to do this, so healing while fighting is extremely difficult to do.  Actions like dodging and healing just don't work unless your're standing still doing nothing!

I also have no clue where to go.  I've been wandering around for hours, found so many different routes and they're all dead ends as far as I can tell.  There's an indicator at the top of the screen that's supposed to tell you where the next boss is, but it behaves the same no matter where you go so it's kinda useless.

Many jumps require you to grab a ledge and pull yourself up, but you don't grab the ledge unless you jump so high that it looks like you should be able to just land on the ledge without having to grab it.  I end up jumping over and over until she finally grabs the ledge.  An action this simple shouldn't be so hard to pull off.

Combat gets crowded and the camera does not move on its own at all, so you have to constantly adjust the camera to see the enemies.  I think they thought people would just use the lock on system, but the way it blocks out the enemies makes me avoid using it at all costs.  And if you go anywhere near a wall during combat, just let yourself get killed because the camera goes to some place where you can't see anything and you usually aren't able to recover from it since you can't see and have no idea which direction to go in order to get away from the wall.

I heard the game is huge, but it's so shitty to play that I can't see myself putting up with it for very much longer.  Too bad they didn't spend more time making the game playable and less time making it huge.  1.5 out of 5 stars so far.
was it even made by the same devs? that sounds indeed horrible

Hahaha, that sounds like the best possible scenario for LoZ blind.

Have fun! It is still an amazing game IMO.

It was made by a team that had most of the same people on it.

I just read some of the first reviews and it looks like I'm not alone.  The game is being mercilessly blasted for technical issues and horrible design choices.  But even worse, I read from several of the reviewers that the game really doesn't get any better than what it is like from the start.  There are no real distinct areas or dungeons.  The bosses are all just kind of hidden all over, and there are places you need to be able to jump up to that you can't even see so you pretty much need a guide unless you want to pull your hair out.  When I was exploring and being lost all the time, I would just start jumping up against walls blindly hoping that she would grab onto something.  Apparently, I was doing exactly what they expect you to do.  The game sucks.

And the CEO brushes off the criticism while talking about how hard people worked to make the $400 Apocalypse Edition a reality. It's basically 4 overpriced statues.  Fuck the statues, dude!  What about the game?!  If this game doesn't end his career then I'm at a loss.
i was reminded about something involving a waterfall

should i go for dungeon 5 first? or just go for dungeon 6 first because screw sequence

or should i go for dungeon 8 instead? lolololol

Yeah I can definitely see the care they put into suggesting sequence in an open-world game layout.
I like turtles.
I'd say it holds up 500% better than Metroid. Not that it hands you anything on a platter but navigating the game world seems like less of an exercise in futility.
Do dungeon 5 first.  Then you will have up to 12 hearts, which will then allow you to get another item that will be very useful in dungeon 6

I already have 12 hearts that allowed me to get the Magic Sword.
