ok horizon zero dawn's story is surprisingly interesting and less predictable than i thought

if you aren't going to play the game, look up a plot summary, it's neat

ahh i love all the rpg/adventure game tropes are explained by the plot and world, too. like why enemies get stronger as you go, why their weakpoints exist, why everyone speaks english ... the rest are spoilers i guess

Yo the last mission of Chapter 3 in RDR2 fuckin rules. The whole squad ridin' up on some fools to demonstrate exactly why they are not to be fucked with. A gang of the coolest motherfuckers on the planet kicking your door in and burning your house down.

Starting Mega Man 11 in a couple of days. \o

By far one of the best moments in the game.
And one of the last sensible moves you'll see Dutch make.

hmm not sure whether to get the eevee or pikachu version of pokemon let's go

maybe eevee because it seems like the game would be a little tougher
I'm waiting till I hear people's opinions on that game. really not sure what to make of it so far...

Started and finished Mega Man 11 in 7 hours.

I enjoyed it a lot. The Double Gear system isn't quite the super essential mechanic I thought it would be, but it is helpful, and it does bring an identity to the game that not many sequels had before. The level design certainly encourages using the gears. I feel dirty using the slowdown, though! Haha. It is OP.

Other than that, this is typical Mega Man. Controls are fluid and precise enough (I wish you could continuously slide with no pause, but oh well). Weapons are very useful. I love the air dash and the ice wall. Levels and bosses are mostly well designed and challenging. There's nothing particularly inventive about the platform gimmicks this time, it's all kind of basic and familiar. But it's okay. I don't know if MM11's levels are longer than usual or if they just have more challenging bits per square pixel. I will say that one mini-boss per level is a bit excessive, and the castle felt like they gave up halfway through and decided to release the rest of it as DLC later.

I heard some bad things about the art style, but I think the game looks cool. It has smooth animation and a colorful, cartoony look. The only bleh thing IMO was the music. It sounds a little too techno generic for me... and sometimes just plain annoying, like Torch Man's stage. Just doesn't have the instant catchiness of previous OSTs. I dunno, maybe I'll get used to it.

But yeah, I really like the game and I hope Capcom has more plans for the series. Mega Man still feels like home.

My first stage order:
1. Block
2. Torch (holy moly this was hard)
3. Tundra (surely fire melts ice, right? Well...)
4. Bounce
5. Acid (by this point I usually had a weakness and/or enough E-Tanks to beat the remaining bosses without much trouble)
6. Fuse
7. Impact
8. Blast

I don't think I'll bother with challenges and stuff right now. Back when MM9 and 10 came out I played them so much that I got burned out. Every now and then I'll come back to MM11 to replay the main game and do a few challenges at a time. They do look pretty interesting.

Red Dead 2 Chapter Five has thus far been "well that's not great": the video game lol. Sadie's been carrying things so far so now I'm double scared for her life. Please no harm my digital wife :v

This game's real good. Part of me wonders if it'd be better or worse if I didn't have the future knowledge from playing the predecessor. There's a degree of tension that comes with knowing Shit Goes Bad and and playing each mission wondering which of these people I don't know from before get caught in it next that I like a lot. But I wish I could experience these two games in reverse order and get properly beaten down by everything lol.
My sentiments on MM11 are spot on with yours dude. I really, really like the Wily stage theme though

Yeah, that's one of the good ones (I think Fuse too)!

i'm really enjoying it. it's the definitive version of rby as far as i'm concerned. it's a lot of fun seeing everything so detailed (for pokemon anyway)

and i'm enjoying the lack of random battles (there actually are some in caves, but they're always rare mons). seeing wild mons running around in the world feels like how the series always should have been, if you ask me

i also love the controls, but they took me awhile to adjust to. basically i've always played pokemon games one-handed whenever i could, and now you have to play it with one hand, on console at least.

i'm only at the second gym, but if you don't mind playing through kanto again, it's worth picking up. i went with the eevee version since eevee is op as fuck. and i have a pikachu in my party for a solid electric type, so it's working out
is it brain-dead easy?
red chamber dream
no. the battles seem harder so far. lieutenant surge legit almost kicked my ass

it's not super difficult either though. i'll have a lot more to say today after i play more
red chamber dream
it's probably tougher because there aren't wild battles, so your only xp is from catching and trainers

A certain island escapade was probably the most "why is this even a thing?" moment in the game for me. Were some Rockstar level designers just so proud of that section that they begged upper management to fit it into the game? I don't get it.

I'd love to give my opinion on that, but it involves a massive spoiler for RDR2. The most I'll say is yes and no.

I didn't have a problem with it, really, I meant more in the sense of it being a series of things just going horribly wrong in rapid succession.

But yeah, it probably could have been cut out of the game and no one would really notice. It does sort of show that the gang could get on alright without Dutch so it might have value beyond further demonstrating why Arthur's doubts about all The Plan are justified.
Will probably give the new pokemon a shot after christmas. Seems like everyone likes it

it's very relaxing. at this point i'm thinking i'd like every pokemon game to get rid of wild battles. but i'm only at celadon, so that could change
I like turtles.
Spyro remakes were pretty good. Basically about the level of quality I expected, with roughly the same level of visual upgrade (and loss of soul/atmosphere in some cases) as the Crash one before it.

Something I should've played a long time ago...

Metroid 2: Return of Samus
I bought this game a few years ago on the 3DS (VC), but I quit in the beginning, right after Spider Ball IIRC. Just got turned off by the map. This time I played through the whole thing. Finished in 4:14.

Most areas look samey, and the tiny screen makes it difficult to understand how big the rooms are. But the game being (mostly) linear and segmented helps. I did eventually find a method that made exploration a little easier: first of all, of course, memorizing where the acid is so I know where to go when the screen starts shaking. And I always tried to explore high rooms before low rooms, because progress in M2 seems to be generally downward. Dunno how accurate that is, but it helped me organize the exploration in my mind a little bit. Like M1, I'm sure I'll enjoy 2 better as I get more familiar with the world.

Gameplay is an improvement over NES Metroid. You can duck, aim down, and the power-ups are more creative. Recharge stations and battery saving are extremely welcome too. I also like the idea of hunting Metroids, but I kinda wish that was more of a Super Mario 64 type goal where not all Metroids are required to see the ending. That would add some strategy to the route, as you'd have the option to skip fights that are too much of a detour. I do love how they give you a counter for the remaining Metroids in an area. Super helpful.

Very cool game. You get so powerful with each new upgrade, it's crazy. Reminds me of Metroid Fusion. I found every major item except Hi-Jump Boots and the fifth E-Tank.

Now I can play Samus Returns (and AM2R), yay!
I like turtles.
RoS deserves a lot of the credit SM gets for gameplay refinements and general quality of life improvements. AM2R just brings it full circle and is still the pinnacle of the formula for the 2D installments IMO.

holy shit pokemon let's go is awesome. when i make charizard my follow pokemon, my trainer's default "walking" animation is riding on a flying charizard :DD

Bringing the Mauser Pistol to the last Epilogue mission in Red Dead 2 was extremely the correct and most satisfying move. Ten rounds of hate right to the dick. Good ass game.

There's some stuff to do in free roam but otherwise all done. Also I need to load up a save from Chapter 3 and find a Klan rally to throw dynamite at because that is the coolest thing anyone can do.

Glad John and family made it out, I was rooting for them. :v
