That was probably bad wording there. Like, Bayonetta 2 and Super Mario 3D World only let you display Gamepad OR both Gamepad and TV. You can't turn off the Gamepad display if you're using it as a controller. Unless you use a different controller.
A few Tropical Freeze nitpicks, just cleared world 4:
- DK's movement is really stiff, unless you roll, then he gets instant rocket momentum. It's like playing two different games at once. I often notice that I'm pressing the d-pad harder than I need because DK moves, jumps and turns so slow. It was like this in Returns as well but I never realized how weird it feels sometimes
- Level design is excellent, but a lot of levels are quite long. I wasn't a fan of the underwater levels... they were much faster and more enjoyable in the old games. Unless I'm missing some key swimming tech (I do know about the sidekick boost, but I mean, turning is still a bit of a pain). Bosses being too long is a common complaint as well and I'll echo it
- Bonus rooms being 1-time only... you can often re-enter bonus barrels after you fail, wouldn't have killed them to let us retry. I also don't like how they recycle the same 10 rooms over and over
- Where are the animal buddies? Rambi's feeling lonely
Those are just nitpicks, though. The game is awesome. I should finish tomorrow... right? Only a couple more worlds. I'm not doing 100% now, and I know there's a big secret world at the end. If it requires collecting everything, I'll just do it another time.
Currently playing through Legend of Heroes: Ao no Kiseki. Hands down one of the best JRPGs I've ever played. Very fun battle system similar to Grandia, really cool skill system that's sort of like Materia on steroids, and the story is really involved without being to plot dumpy or poorly paced. I love it.
