Dood Trigger™
Super Metroid RBO, Day 1.

Current shape, about to head into Lower Norfair:

Man, I had a great time with suitless Maridia. So far, anyway. It's floaty and slow, but I guess I was expecting it to be much harder than it was.

Aaaand Ridley is dead!

Holy Jesus Christ, that was hard. I am so bad at fighting this guy, and with your health constantly depleting + no armor defense, it is painful. I used 30-something Super Missiles to kill him (must have missed a couple, he's supposed to die at 30). Luckily I still had a full tank or two to make it to the next room. I just never know how to read this guy.

On the plus side, oh man, that heat run is so much fun. I probably did it like 35 times total, counting all my attempts, and it never got tedious or frustrating or anything. It's just fun to go as fast as possible and see yourself improve in each room. After a while, all the button presses become kind of automatic. If I weren't so awful at fighting Ridley, I'd do RBO more frequently.

Maridia next. This place is difficult because of underwater physics, but I already did about half of it earlier, so I'm fairly confident. The only super tricky part here is the boss.

RBO is done! Yay!

As expected, it was much easier after Lower Norfair, although leaving Draygon's room was probably the dumbest single trick in the entire playthrough. It's just a weird combination of inputs for that specific grapple jump. Everything else in Maridia (including the actual boss fight) was easy IMO. There's a little bit of timing involved in glitching the stored Shinespark vs. Draygon, but it's not that big a deal.

The rest of the game was absolutely free and I loved it. Haha. I also skipped both suits and made this an RBO-Suitless run (you no longer need to enter lava/water places after Maridia, anyway). Mother Brain hurts more without suits, but knowing how the fight works it's not bad at all.

Outside of Draygon grapple jump, I enjoyed this a ton.

Other SM stuff I plan to do in the future:

- Low% (I may attempt both glitched and non-glitch)
- NBMB
- Some kind of casual speedrun goal where I don't lose all my hair in anger

Currently replaying Ape Escape. My favorite game of all time. Highly recommend it if you haven't played it. It's a pretty fun collectathon with a great soundtrack. I definitly need to play the squeals someday.

Well done! I'll try to keep this in mind so I might attempt it too someday.

Just got A Hat in Time. Not a huge fan so far, but I barely started the game so I'm still hopeful I'll get my moneys worth.
I like turtles.
The early game is pretty weak if you're savvy to genre conventions. The game only improves from there though.

Thanks, ryu!
can't find the last gold voucher in mafia town. been running around for hours lol
Beat A Hat in Time. Still not a huge fan of it. Not a bad game though.

325 hours into xenoblade 2 and i just finished the final boss in ng+. now it's time to finish like 30 quests and fill out all the new blades' affinity charts! can't believe i'm not sick of this game yet, i've been playing it for twice as long as xcx now O_O
meanwhile i completed phantasy star I and II. easily the most archaic RPGs i ever played. skipped the third one for now and the fourth is easily on the level of top snes rpgs.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I have been playing Nier Automata. I am enjoying Nier Automata.

My man.

God I can't even imagine playing the first three in this modern day of RPGs. The encounter rate in 4 is still pretty high but the encounters are less painful.

yeah my favorite part of the first one for sure was how often there'd be an encounter every 2 steps...

I have finished Nier Automata. Nier Automata is really fucking good.

Would you say it's Nier-perfect?
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Nines out of 9. Would recommend.

For real though, it might be my favorite game now. It's good stuff.
Too bad its predecessors aren't anywhere as fun to play. I would totally recommend reading Dark Id's LPs of them, though.

Anyway, I've been kind of trying to get into Fire Emblem after not touching the series for about a decade. Beat FE7 not too long ago and I'm 19 chapters into Path of Radiance.

Dolphin is free, my dude. ;)

Having Platinum handle the gameplay aspect was a very good decision. At least me being trash looked cool.
I feel like I would've enjoyed the game more if I'd gotten the PS4 version instead of the PC port. The latter was a mess at launch: the game's lighting engine was horribly optimized and there was tons of hitching everywhere. Not even Kaldeian's mod fixed everything for me. Oh well. Lesson learned, I suppose.

Yeah the PC port extremely suffers from "Japanese devs not dealing with PC syndrome" unfortunately.

Nintendo is making an accessory for the switch that fits on your head so your switch becomes a VR headset.

I predict metroid prime trilogy re-released for this.

And metroid prime 4 will be for this as well.
Hopefully MP4 is a 30 fps VR-only game so I don't have to play it!
