The Lore stopped being good midway through AC anyway, and AK certainly doesn't rescue it. I wouldn't expect 30 hours out of the main story by any stretch though.
btw fuck that choice with the serum. why even have it in the game when it barely does anything other than fuck the player over for making the logical choice
I don't know if this was just the kind of game I needed to play, but I'm digging Arkham Knight so far. The cinematic vibe, gliding across the big map, familiar gameplay. The presentation overall is amazing (except some of the characters/faces which look pretty weird).
I heard they go a little nutty with the Batmobile stuff. So far it hasn't been completely obnoxious (just cleared Ace Chemicals), but I'd definitely rather have more traditional Arkham gameplay over it. Here's hoping it doesn't ruin the fun. Tank platforming is pretty hilarious, at least.
The Batmobile is actually really well-executed in and of itself. It's just that they seem to keep forcing its use... not quite enough to ruin the experience, just to become noticeable.
The logical choice is not saving your wife who's the reason you're there in the first place?
mia sawed my arm off mia showed signs of transformation so she was possibly too far gone for the serum to cure her it seemed like mia might have been responsible for what was going on meanwhile zoe helped to make the serum
Pretty sure being a goo zombie (also known as a gooul) makes you not legally responsible for your actions. Also Zoe had been infected way longer and used you to accomplish her goals while giving shitty half-baked advice :>
(Ivy of all people just helped me unearth some roots).
The combat and stealth are so polished and enjoyable. Having a blast. I'm glad that the flow of the combat came back quickly to me, even though it's been like 5 years since my last Arkham game. Stealth is just an amazing time. I love how many different ways you can solve these rooms. Also digging the slower investigation bits. The game is doing a great job alternating all these gameplay styles.
I think this amount of Batmobile so far is fine, but I hope it doesn't get super spammed later. It just feels like filler sometimes. The laser tank fights are kind of the same thing every time, and they always happen when you're on your way to do something really interesting, which maybe is one of the reasons people get a bad impression about these segments.
It was awesome. There are things I prefer in the other games, and new things I'd rather not have here at all, but overall I had a great time.
The combat and stealth maps are still as enjoyable as ever. My only minor problem with the big brawl fights is that there's a lot more special things you gotta keep in mind now. Medic, charging enemies, multiple big brutes, tag team... in the other games (especially City), the fighting had a smoother flow where you spent most of it building a combo and only occasionally using special moves to take care of weapons/shields/big guys.
I don't think the Batmobile is ever bad gameplay, but they still could have toned it down a bit IMO. That long sequence at the end where you do one fight after another (plus the drill chase) was kind of overkill. The tank fights were a little repetitive, tank stealth ditto. My favorite Batmobile moments were the silly puzzles like pulling the elevator. That said, it's not like the car is unplayable, it's actually pretty well done. So I can agree that people tend to exaggerate about the whole thing.
I also didn't care a lot for the story, honestly, but I'm sure I'm not alone here.
The Joker being Batman's "Dark Passenger" is a cool idea, but by the 1/3 point I was already kinda tired of seeing him. And the final reveal(s)... I dunno. They were ballsy, at least.
No doubt I'm coming back to this for 100% another time.
Super Mario Odyssey is scratching my collectathon itch waaaay better than YL. I am absolutely loving the shift back to earning the collectibles through exploration curiosity, rather than treating them as goal posts at the end of a fixed obstacle course. And just lots of smart decisions in general. Everything feels on purpose and the levels all feel "full." The only (very minor) thing I'd change is giving it a full-fledged hub.
i'm actually not a huge fan of how many moons were in "mini-stages" in odyssey. it makes the game feel more like galaxy than sunshine, which is not a good thing
