I think I enoyed Minish Cap the first time I played it. Second playthrough it felt really bland and I haven't touched it since.
Got Sonic Forces today. It's corny in all the right ways and keeps putting a grin on my face or making me laugh. gameplay is so-so. 3d sections often play themselves, when they don't they're usually ok but nothing too great. not sure if generations was much better in that regard. I don't think it was. 2d sections kinda suck because the physics and enemies clearly weren't designed for it. it's still playable and I'm having a real blast.
Playing through most of KH for the umpteenth time since I haven't played through the PS4 versions yet. The framerate is super nice and I was fortunate enough to only purchase a copy after the worst of the bugs were patched out. However, the trophy requirements for Re:CoM are still occasionally stupid even after the difficulty mode ones were modified to stack. Reaching max level in games that were never intended for the level cap to be reached is just... :|
Finished the main story in Odyssey. I'll continue to do all the completionist stuff as the days go by. Amazing platformer. I loved it.
I also managed to beat this obscure Falcom action RPG called Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection. If you're into upbeat, silly games with a lot of heart, then this one should be right up your alley. It plays like a mix between top-down dungeon crawlers and PC Ys games released circa 2003-2007. You fight monsters, collect loot and cash, and do a bunch of side quests for people around town. The main gimmick in the gameplay is that you control two characters at once (hence the title "Zwei"), with each having a separate attack button that lets you instantly swap between them during combat. The dungeons in this game are rather blocky in layout, but there's enough puzzles and combat to keep them interesting. I even thought the story was pretty good, which I honestly wasn't expecting from a game as cartoony as this one. So yeah, check it out if you have the time.
...oh, and there's a bunch of Castlevania jokes, which are always nice.
i think xenoblade chronicles x may be my favorite rpg. i went back to it instead of continuing with odyssey
don't get me wrong, odyssey is fantastic, it's more that xcx was just distracting me ... almost have the final arts for my class unlocked! one of them is basically the best art for dps in the entire game so that's pretty cool
then i'll maybe do a few high level hunts and call it quits, but man i really love this game and would recommend to anyone
So Poi is half the price and twice the fun of Yooka Laylee. It's a bit stiff but overall it's surprising how close they got to the pure fun of movement that 3D Marios provide. I have no idea about the budget but I get the feeling they could've made a dozen Poi sequels with the money YL had. Also the best approach to "minigames" I've seen in a collectathon, which just means they mostly make you do what you've already been doing the whole game in the context of a little challenge thing. Maybe I could find more things to nitpick about if the game was harder, but this was just solid.
I have 555 moons in Odyssey and took a break from it to play Mummy Demastered. It's basically a super metroid wannabe. About 5 hours in. Not a perfect game, but definitely worth playing.
Did you finish that? Opinions I've heard are all over the place.
No I still haven't played it again. The best thing about the game is that it's a classic 2d metroidvania game. Outside of that, it's not that great. It's just refreshing that someone made a game like that when it's just getting more and more rare to see them.
It's just a fun, well made game. The exploration is good. The controls and the physics are good. The pacing is good. I had tons of fun playing it and I want to play it again.
