that's why i think it's probably just a bug. they said they improved the epona controls because they thought they did, but a bug could have snuck in at the last minute

if they hadn't touched them at all, they would be the same. so it makes sense
The only progress I've made is in not sprinting.  If you just gallop at normal speed then it's much easier.  I'm used to sprinting constantly, but that's when you can't turn.  So only sprint when you're pointed exactly in the direction you want to go and have a lot of room.

I've gotten better at the horse, it's just really different than wii.  It helps to press forward and then rock the joystick in the desired turn direction instead of relying on sprinting for momentum and then tapping left or right to turn as I'm used to.
I'm surprised that I still remember where everything is.  It's fun to go after every chest because some of them have stamps in them.  I'll never use the stamps, but gotta get 'em all of course.

I was disappointed to get the magic armor and see that your rupees still drain away simply from wearing it instead of only losing rupees if you take damage.  That might have been the best improvement they could have made.  The magic armor in TP is the best Link has ever looked in the whole series, and you still can't just wear it the whole time even though that's what everyone wants to do. I have to lose all my rupees just to stand there in it?  God damn.
:(
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
Get dat new 9999 rupee wallet.

Just got Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight. It's a Dark Souls inspired metroidvania that just came out on Steam. Very cool game.

Still very indy and a bit rough around the edges. It's very difficult, so there's lots of checkpoints around and lots of reloading, like in Knyx. The soundtrack is just ambient background sounds for the most part, the few actual music tracks I've heard so far are all great though.

It's addicting.
What does Dark Souls inspired mean? It seems to be the new magic "if I call it this I make more money" word, so can you be more specific?
You heal yourself using an item that's exhaustible but replenishes at checkpoints. Item's have descriptions like in the Souls games, the setting reminds me of both Souls and Bloodborne. There's a midboss that looks a bit like a knight in fluted armor with a greatsword.

Granted, the enemies and setting are both also a lot like Castlevania. But I still think the devs played Souls a lot
So the inspiration doesn't factor into the core gameplay? I just watched the steam trailer and looked into the series, did you play any of the previous installments?
nope. I'll most likely try them out after I'm done with the recent game though

Hard to say since I haven't played a SOTN-like Castlevania in forever.
But I should mention that there's a dodge roll like in Souls!

I guess it's mostly Castlevania SOTN-like with some Souls flavor added.

I watched the trailer and it seems heavily inspired by dark souls, not sure how Serris didn't pick up on that. Look like a visually pretty game, might actually give it a run around
Club 27 Goals
visually, everything from the trailer was very reminiscent of dark souls sorta decaying style. Especially the mob design and boss design. Interior building design and all that, it looks really pretty.

but games are only about core gameplay! nothing else matters!!

didn't you know?
The aesthetics are already covered by comparing it to Castlevania, so gameplay was the only reason I could see to mention Dark Souls. Dark Souls already has Castlevania aesthetics but is mechanically unique.

Yeah thanks for pretending I said that, much appreciated.

dark souls is srs business

and castlevania definitely has a different feel art-design wise. I'm trying to pin down exactly what it is. I think Castlevania has more of a victorian era feel to it, depending on the games, whereas Dark Souls is more of the post-victorian ruins aesthetic.

Castlevania is more bloodborne-y than dark souls tbh

ROTFL. i no rite

I forget, did castlevania have parts that took place outside the castle? And by castlevania I mean the good core ones, not the N64-tier spinoffs
Club 27 Goals
The only two I played were pretty exclusively inside the castle from what I remember

Yeah, they usually start off outside of the actual castle
red chamber dream
symphony of the night starts outside the castle, so yes ... technically?

it has some "outdoor" stuff like when you're running on ramparts or whatever too
Club 27 Goals
Oh yeah I mean, running up to the castle yeah. But I was thinking more like, forest segments, couldn't really remember any
It's almost funny. I've never considered myself a castlevania fan. Never really cared about the lore, characters or just anythings. Never felt like any of the games was like the ebst thing ever(!!!) so that I felt like I needed more of it...

and yet I've played a whole bunch of games from the series.
red chamber dream
yeah nah not really

i think some of the newer games have some outdoor stuff though, i vaguely remember portrait of ruin having some
red chamber dream
ryu i feel the same way haha

i've played like four of the games and i'm still not sure if i even like the series at all ... por was the one i liked most though
