ah so it works like every other pc game

:P
Can't beat keyboard and mouse inventory managent.
red chamber dream
yeah it's great, that's why it's no surprise they didn't deviate from the standard hotkey scheme

i was just surprised ryu didn't know it
One shall stand, one shall ball.
It took me a little while to figure out too, you have to favorite the item or power in your inventory first, then open that menu with Q, then set the hot key. You can't just set it from the normal inventory menu iirc. It's weird.

I didn't quite understand all the complaints people had about the UI until I played the PC version.
red chamber dream
oh that is pretty weird
red chamber dream
and yeah i thought the console ui was pretty good

will be interesting to see how much they change it for 6
There's probably like 923145494 mods that improve the UI at this point, so it's no big deal.

Finally played Smash Bros. Melee for the first time. Here's what I've done in it:

- Beat Classic mode with the 14 default characters + Marth
- Beat Adventure mode twice (C. Falcon and Marth)
- Beat 100 Man Melee
- Beat Events 1 through 39
- Got all fighters except Mewtwo and Mr. Game & Watch

My only experience with Smash Bros. before was Brawl, which is a super floaty game, so I've been struggling quite a bit trying to adapt to Melee's lightning fast gameplay. Pretty much didn't know what I was doing through most of my Classic runs until I unlocked Marth, who's been my main character since. I'm still terrible at the game, but I at least feel more comfortable with his moves.

The game is cool, I'm having a fun time. I have the same impression that I had of Brawl, that this must be 50x better with other people and I probably won't get to enjoy the full Smash meal by playing 1P. The solo game mostly gives you a crapton of unlockables to keep you busy, and I feel that I've been through enough of that with Brawl, so I don't know if I'm gonna bother now. I'm not too familiar with the technical aspects that make the combat so popular/competitive, but I do want to learn more about it.

Solo content impressions: Classic mode is your standard arcade ladder stuff, pretty simple and short. I'm not very good at the bonus levels, but then again I was never good at Kirby/Smash platforming. Adventure mode was obviously a lot shorter than Subspace Emissary, which I kinda want to replay sometime just to compare the two games. Events started out simple, but by the 30s there were some crazy tough ones, especially Link vs. Young Link and Ness vs. that bunch of space characters. If those fights were this hard, I don't want to imagine how insane 40-51 must be! :O

I'll play at least a few more sessions of this. Sadly there isn't much left in terms of unlockables that doesn't involve grinding... I'll probably just play solo stuff with Marth and try to get a little better at the gameplay.

do events include break the targets? that was a lot of fun for the first time

(also i miss board the platforms ;-[)

Nah, Events are mini scenario fights. You can play break the targets at any time though which is pretty cool.

Well, I restarted FFT using idk's advice. I'm having an even harder time now.

It really feels like they don't give you enough information to strategize properly. I don't know turn order, I don't know my attack range until I've committed to moving, I don't know enemy attack ranges. Again, maybe I'm too used to Fire Emblem, but it doesn't feel like I can really plan ahead for anything.

I'm now stuck on the mission before the one I was at last time. I'm pretty much ready to give up. I really want to like this game, but it doesn't want me to like it.

The only event even worth mentioning is the last one lol. Make sure you play all of them before putting down the game!

If event 51 gives you too much trouble, just remember your secret weapon: Jigglypuff.

You think I'm joking but I'm not.

Quote from Toozin:
I don't know turn order

Close all in-battle menus, press Triangle. One of the options on this menu should be Turn Order. You can also press Left or Right on the D-pad when selecting a spell to see when it's gonna get casted with respect to turn order.

Again, close all in battle menus, hover over a unit, and press X if you're on PS1 or O if you're on PSP. Works for both allies and enemies.

This info makes me happy. Thank you.
Honestly, the further you get into the game, the less shit like that is gonna matter. But yeah, it's pretty useful early on.

Jigglypuff owning the hardest thing in the game? I gotta see that!

It's not as exciting as it sounds, haha. Spoiler tags just in case.
It involves Jiggy floating back and forth underneath the stage and baiting the opponents into jumping after you and suiciding.
I like turtles.
Or using Rest on Giga Bowser.

Sounds useful, haha. I think I might have done something like that to beat one of these challenges in Brawl. Good to know!

Okay, I'm doing the thing... leaving my Wii on for the next 5-6 hours with 3P on Versus to unlock Mewtwo ASAP. (I only have access to 3 controllers right now, but this should be fine because I already had 3 hours logged in Versus.)

What happens if I can't defeat M2 in the challenge? Do I have to do 20 more hours of Vs.? O_O

He'll challenge you again after your next versus match or single player mode.
