Nah ryu, the original is even worse. The first run of the DX version still had a ton of bugs, but the later versions of it on the newer consoles (at the time) fixed a good amount of it
The character animations though was the best part of that game. I forgot just how bad the "lip syncing" was, but it's like, so bad it's good
Oh shit, I've been waiting for Zero Mission. About time.
Nintendo's attitude towards the Virtual Console never ceases to confuse me. They already have working emulators, so the effort it takes to upload a ROM can't be much. But they just sit on thousands of titles for seemingly no good reason.
I occasionally feel like I'm the only one who really wants all these games to be portable. Like, not even just GBA titles. I'm sure SNES wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility either if Nintendo cared to do it. How rad would it be to have Mega Man X or Super Metroid on the go? The answer is "very rad," because they're all 90s games.
Been playing Isaac a lot at work. The game is so different now from when I started. There's all these weird floors that I've unlocked like sheol, cathedral, cellar, necropolis. It just keep evolving.
You can play super metroid on 3ds now with homebrew, but gba emulation still doesn't work properly for many games.
I have BlargSnes on my 3DS, and it's pretty neat. Which is what makes me say that Nintendo is quite capable of supporting better emulation officially. Either that or the dev team for BlargSnes needs to drastically improve stability, compatibility, speed, save states, etc.
I guess in order to get the ambassador GBA games they gave out years back running on 3DS, they had to basically dig into the GBA portion of the DS architecture that's still within the system, since it can't properly run a GBA emulator. Which means they're missing a lot of Virtual Console staples like save states, sleep mode, and what have you. That's probably why they're hesitant to release anything commercially.
One wonders if the New 3DS could handle it though.
Hmm I never tried to use save states when I played fusion on 3ds so I never noticed.
Just finished playing ZM for a couple of hours on wiiu. Love the control customization of the game pad. I haven't played it in probably a year so I thought I would forget a couple of things, but I forgot SO much :(. I just spent 30 mins looking for wave beam. Getting old sucks.
Just started up Bloodborne for my own personal playthrough for the first time. During the character select, the girlfriend took over the controls to design the character. She spent a solid hour working on different faces so I took a break to go out and get some food and supplies since she said she was going to go to bed early tonight anyway. I came back and to my surprise she was actually playing it on her own.
Admittedly it took us awhile to find the Lever to bring down the ladder (and unfortunately after pulling the lever we ran away to open the gates, only to find that we were supposed to wait for the ladder to come down). After that, it was pretty easy, until we got to the first big group of torch-bearing dudes. She sorta wasted the pebbles before this, and we only had 6 cocktails. She tried her best, but unfortunately was over-taken by the group, and we lost about 1700 blood echoes and we no longer have our supply of items. This frustrated her quite a bit and decided "I didn't like how I made that character anyway" an decided we would start fresh tomorrow
So Parasite Eve is pretty fun. The battle system is extremely unique; you move around and dodge attacks in real time while your action point gauge fills up, then once it's full you can take an action like attacking or using an item or spell-type thing. It feels very much like a proto-VATS.
The story is cheesy as hell, but not without charm. Someone was clearly inspired after an 8th grade science class about cellular structure.
I'm on day 2, wandering around Central Park currently. PSX era graphics are charming as hell to me, blobby mass of pixels though they may be. The pre-rendered backgrounds can be a little unclear on the exit points at times, but that's kind of a universal problem of the format.

The part with looots of enemies in a relative open area? There's multiple way to get through there safely. It's not a big geal imo.
Don't worry about your blood echoes. This early, the ones you get are nearly worthless. Also you can't use them to level up for quite a while anyways. When I played I ran into the first boss at base level and lost 8k blood echoes tat I accumulated while scavenging pretty much the whole place.
