but yeah the fishing dude is optional but if you aren't playing SA to 100% it then wtf u doin. Also Amy level is A+ and the robot level is actually pretty great, although a bit repetitive from what I remember
Usually you have to do the one thing to open the next level. I haven't had trouble figuring it out, at least so far, and you can talk to the hotel guy or the... floating... spirit thing... for help. But by free I mean that the game doesn't demand much from you. The speed stuff is nearly automated and you're just swimming in rings the whole time.
Waiting for the bosses to be vulnerable is lame. They still die pretty fast IMO. The water blue goo boss took the longest but at least the challenge is super low.
The Runaway Guys are currently doing an SA playthrough. They spend a good deal of time fucking around with dumb glitches and carrying an old man statue around.
Well shit I started to watch a let's play of it. Sonic games are so weird to me because I can't tell if I hate that I love them, or if I love hating them. Maybe it's a beautiful balance of both.
Also, not spoilers, but the song that plays at the end of Tails campaign is the best worst thing ever, it's so wonderfully bad, it even has some religious stuff in it iirc
But yeah the fishing is so stupid dude. Or maybe I just never learned the right way to do it, but the mechanic of it seems half baked at best. Maybe tooz can shed some light on it
Also are you playing the original or directors cut? Depending on which version you're playing you may encounter a ton of bullshit glitches thar kill you a lot
To me, Sonic is like eating fast food. It pleases something in your brain even though you know it's quite literally garbage. But there's just something about it that feels good.
Just watch Grumps play it, honestly. You'll get a good sense of just how poorly it's aged. Like, arguably in a worse way than any other popular 3D platformer of the time.
AFAIK the digital HD version only has the standard content by default and the DX stuff is additional DLC. I'm guessing it will have the DX bug fixes though. I mean, lord I hope so. The day we have to pay for bug fixes is the day the whole industry reaches critical mass.
Usually, when an expansion fixes stuff in the original game, you can download the patch for free and then buy a key to unlock the extra content. Maybe there's one for SA, I'll check later.
Finished Sonic's story. Yeah, the game has a lot of problems, but I loved it. I finished the rest of the story quite fast (in about 30 minutes), and then I spent an hour looking for Emblems in the overworld. I also did both top rank missions in Emerald Coast... beating that level in under 2 minutes was very difficult, at least for someone who doesn't know the game all that well yet, but fun as hell.
I feel like I could spend a whole month playing this, seeing all the characters and getting 100%. I should probably move on to something else while I'm not 'in the zone', though, haha. It's just that I'm thinking about tracking down a copy of DX for the GameCube so I won't have to deal with the 4:3 and purple border. This game is really cool and it deserves a playthrough where it doesn't hurt my eyes... >_>
I love how you have to get it on an older system to fix the aspect ratio. That's a sign of a quality port right there.
I just bought Saints Row IV for PS4 and Final Fantasy Tactics and Parasite Eve for PS3 via the PSN sale that started today. Now I'm wrestling with my PS3 to get it to download things. I had almost forgotten why I barely turn this dumb thing on anymore.
Well I made the purchase in the web store and put the games in the download queue, which means they're supposed to automatically start downloading when you turn the system on. I turned it on and the notice came up that stuff was going to download, but then nothing happened. I tried going into the store but gave up after 10 minutes when it wouldn't load.
I'm currently reinstalling the store, that might help.
Parasite Eve is currently $1.50 by the way (I think like $1.20 with PS+). If anyone has even a remote interest, you might as well get it while it still costs as much as a candy bar.

It sounds to me like he's trying to unfix the aspect ratio by stretching the 4:3 picture to the 16:9 format. Personally I'd just be mad that the game has purple "borders" instead of black ones.

DX bug fixes? I'm sorry, what? In my experience DX is the buggy version of SA lol
