Finished up Borderlands 2. Well, beat the final story mission that is to say, it's kind of one of those games that's never truly finished. I didn't do every single mission, but I did a hell of a lot, and the DLC content especially had me significantly overleveled by the end. I faced Jack at level 43, and I'm pretty sure it's designed for around level 35. Oh well, still had a great time.

I was planning on jumping into the Witcher 3 DLC next, but apparently there's a massive patch to download first so that put the kibosh on those plans. I ended up taking a peek at the Pre Sequal instead. I went with the cowgirl to try to get myself away from sniper classes and she seems pretty fun.

But with that patch finishing up and Yoshi releasing on Friday, I don't know what I'm going to be focused on for the next while. We shall see.

Playing Sonic Adventure 2. Started off with a new file, but got bored with it really quick. Like every time I've been either tryting to, or fully replaying the game. Now instead of just turning it off, this time I went and started doing missions in the stage select screen.

And suddenly, the game is fun, almost as much as it used to be playing it or the first time when I enjoyed the hell out of it. Wow.

that's the best way to play that game! just do missions and go for a-ranks. tons of fun
If anyone's interested in the upcoming co-op zelda 3ds game, check your email for a demo download code.  The single player mode is locked in the demo, but local multi is available, and the online multi servers will be turned on during scheduled times starting tomorrow.  I;m going to check it out.  I don't normally care for that type of game but trying it for free is something I would do.

Playing Yoshi's Wooly World with the missus and it's a blast. Mechanically it plays almost identically to Yoshi's Island, but the yarn aesthetic gives it insane charm and leads to some great gimmicks. The levels provide more of a challenge than Kirby's Epic Yarn, but they're pretty easy so far. It's very clear that 100%ing it will be a big task though, each level is loaded with collectibles and you need to finish with full hearts to boot. Luckily, unlike Yoshi's Island, you don't have to do it all in one go.

The amiibo is probably my favorite one yet. It's just adorable.
I got my wiiu gamepad double life battery today. They made the internal space big enough for you to upgrade the battery so it's still on the inside.  Curious to see if it will work though, it's crappy 3rd party.

Also got my 2TB ext HD with y-cord to upgrade my wiiu storage capacity.  Installing only took seconds.  Now I can have more than 5 games on my wiiu!  It's a Western Digital MyPassortUltra.  Got it plus the cord for $75.

Do you purchase all your games digitally? Or are even indie games only released digitally so large in byte-size that you need an external HD to store more than a couple of them?

Nice purchases regardless of that. Nintendo made the battery slot like that on purpose to cash in on sales from separate batteries and to lower console production cost.
I don't see myself ever upgrading the battery since I have an outlet just next to where I sit when I play games on the big screen. So the charger's cable doesn't bother me much.
I have had to buy discs for all major games for a while now because WWHD, SM3DW, and a couple of other big games have taken up 90% of the space already.  Going forward I will buy digital copies much more often.  AFAIK, all games are available digitally, not just indie.
Yeah storing major releases on the console itself is a nightmare lol
That battery I bought is a joke.  The first one they sent me didn't work at all.  The second one is crap - the orange light blinks erratically, and after I charged it in full the first time it only lasted for 45 mins.  They said that the blinking orange light means it's not installed properly, but I've taken it out and installed it multiple times, it's not complicated, the plug fits in the socket - that's it.  It's in all the way, there's really no other way to install the damn thing.  Then they said I might have to charge it and deplete it multiple time before I get the 8 hours of battery life they promised.  I've never heard of that requirement before, but I'll try it.
rotfl. I'd just try to get a refund. Don't forget with shitty batteries there's the risk of leakage

That charge/deplete thing is the way rechargeable batteries used to work before they were any good. I wouldn't trust that thing.

Playing Fatal Frame 2 for the first time. It is great so far. I love how easy the combat is compared to FF1. I'm in the beginning, but still, in the original they'd throw phaser/floater ghosts in your face since hour one.

PSA: There's a bug in the latest PS3 firmware update where the DS3 controller won't sync with PS2 classics. If that happens to you guys, plug the controller into the PS3 with the charge cable before you load the game, and when the first screen of the game appears, hold the PS button until it stops flashing. You can then unplug the DS3 and play normally. If you don't do this, the DS3 will only work while it is plugged. What a pain, Sony.

Tales of Zestiria is pretty great so far. It seems to be Xillia's world style with Graces's battle system, which is alright by me. People are saying the story isn't great but I'm enjoying it so far. I'm not that far in though so who knows.

On a semi related note, if you're ever ordering something from Gamestop online don't pay for shipping. I wanted to get the special edition of Zestiria for the wife and the only way I could find that wasn't sold out was through the Gamestop website. They wanted to try to charge me $12+ for shipping, but I took the free option, which they claimed would take 5-10 business days. Yeah, it arrived today, one day after release. The same thing happened with the Samus amiibo I ordered, took way less time than they claimed. So don't waste your money on shipping.

Well, you've got about a month. I dunno about length, I've been intentionally avoiding information on it as much as possible, but if it's Xillia length you could probably do it pretty easily.
I've been playing skyward sword lately, about 75% through the game now.  This game is a pretty good game.  There are a couple of gripes but they are minor.  I've been experimenting with the sword combat, and I'm finding that there are multiple strategies to fighting the bigger enemies.  In the past I kind of just went with what worked the first time I killed them and stuck with that through the whole game.  I used shield bashing on everything, which is good strategy but it gets old.  Now I'm finding the there are times to stab, times to slash from a certain direction, etc.
I'm also having a greater appreciation for the story and the look of the game.  Still hate The Imprisoned.  I should probably find different strategies for him, assuming there are any.

You can fight enemies in a lot of ways. It's one of the better aspects about the game.

I don't think there's much strategic variety to fighting the imprisoned though. That fight's the one reason I can't get myself to replay the game btw.

I love the combat in Skyward Sword. Ghirahim is one of the bosses I have a better appreciation for since my last playthrough. The third form in particular is really fun. It's just too bad you have to sit through a ton of hand holding, padding and other interruptions to enjoy the good parts in SS.

Imprisoned has a trick where you can fall onto its head directly and hit the stone without having to damage its hands/feet. It's pretty cool but I can't do it consistently. The boss appearing a billion times is definitely dumb.
Cool I just read about that.  I will have to try it.  The only fight I have left is part 3 so I'm not sure I can do it in that one.  There's always the boss rush though.
I also read about rolling bombs to his feet.  I'll have to try that too.  Stamina potions really help on the Imprisoned fights.
