Quote from Turtle:
That's definitely true, I just think NSMB2 stands out as egregiously uninspired.  Like, sometimes I forget it even exists, such was the impression it failed to leave.  I'm still waiting for a game on the order of SMW that has a fully-connected world map, a power up as broken/awesome/fun as the Feather, and more levels with secret exits than not that cut obscene shortcuts through the intended sequence.  So far they've all been spiritual successors to SMB3 more than any other entry.

that's like asking nintendo to release a good metroid game

so, gonna try MGS V even though I've nevr played a Metal Gear Solid game before.

Heere we gooooooooo

NSMB2 is pretty forgettable. I do think it's a good game, but it had nothing truly fresh to offer and it didn't help that it got released in a sea of very similar games. Collecting coins everywhere is a nice feeling but it doesn't affect the game in any real way.

Agreed with Turtle about SMW. What's weird to me is that they made the physics a lot less complex and less interesting in the New games. Mario's running feels kinda slow, and there doesn't seem to be as many variables affecting your speed as in the older games (this may be just an impression based on the level design; I haven't really tested anything). Also, why can't we kick items upwards anymore? I love that in SMW!

I've been trying to get into the 2D mario games lately as all the SMM videos I've been watching have made me feel nostalgic.  I haven't been successful though.  I tried SMW, NSMB2, SMB, SM3DL, but I wasn't feeling it.  I'll try NSMB again, but the thing I don't like about it is the secret exits that take you from one world to the next instead of it just being linear.  I think one in particular drive me crazy - you need a mini mush to get from world 2 to world 3 I think, and I always die trying because mini mario is fragile and a bitch to control.  Maybe I should just try SM3DW again.  It's not 2D but I've only played through it once so maybe it will feel fresh.

You need Mini Mario for both secret worlds IIRC.

SMM is a lot more fun to play than any actual 2D Mario game for me

Playing Silent Hill. Just got to Alchemilla. When I entered the hospital yard, I remembered there were 2 dogs waiting there so I started shooting while walking towards them as soon as the area had loaded. By the time the dogs came into the camera's view, one was going down and the other just ate the killing shot fired by Harry who didn't sustain any damage. Dude looked like a badass.

I love this game
Should I get Tropical Freeze or Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag?
Club 27 Goals
Black Flag is an amazing game, but it'll be a lot to chew through. I think you'll enjoy it though
red chamber dream
both tbh. depends on whether you want to play a shorter game or a big fukken pirate adventure
A big pirate adventure sounds fun.  Much more affordable, too.

Black flag is cheaper than tropical freeze? Holy shot lol

Have you played other AssCreed games?
No, I have not.

tropical freeze is a nintendo game. nintendo games rarely lose much value. all other games get heavily slashed after a couple months. if black flag costs more than $20 right now, i would be surprised.

oh yeah there's no need to play any of the previous ac games before black flag. there's still an overall story, but it's not very important and you can totally ignore it and still get the full enjoyment from the game

Funnily, ACIV is the exact cutoff point where the story went from relatively sidelined to completely irrelevant.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
It was always irrelevant.

I mean acknowledged as such by the developers.
red chamber dream
irrelevant yeah, but i always was pretty into the story ... up until black flag, anyway. it seems like even ubisoft doesn't care about the overarching plot anymore, and consequently i'm less interesting in assassin's creed now. they had a cool thing going, not sure why they totally fucked it up

I do have moments where I like the present day story as a nice contrast/counterpoint, but I honestly wasn't less interested in Rogue for not having that element.  It's also possible to just be tired of the series given its sheer length now.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Ubisoft hasn't cared about making actually fun missions at any point in the series so it's about time they just gave up entirely!

Hey, you leave the Apple of Eden gameplay in Brotherhood alone!  :(
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Hold X to win was straight up the best mission design decision in the series.

You kind of have a point when I step back and think of the series, or rather at any given instance of gameplay.  I think I always enjoyed how they got strung together into a big playable experience more than I liked any individual component.  But I still don't know that I'd say most of them were UNfun either...
