So I beat Zelda 1 for the first time today. It's actually pretty neat! Sure, the game's dated as hell, but it's honestly amazing how much stuff they managed to pack into a tiny NES game from 1986. Darknuts and Wizrobes annoyed the shit out of me in later dungeons, but I had fun overall. I'm thinking of trying out Zelda II or moving on to LttP next.
True story: I beat Dark Link on my first try without knowing the corner exploit. I probably couldn't do it again in a million years though, I dunno what kind of planitary alignment was giving me all that luck that night.
Man, Pagan Min is so great in Far Cry 4. At least equal to Vaas, which I was not expecting. Actually, most of the characters are excellent. I especially like Longinus, the former warlord turned priest/weapons dealer after being shot in the head.
The exception is protagonist Ajay Ghale, who is as bland as lightly toasted toast, but you don't even need a talking protagonist in a game like this so it hardly matters. At least he isn't as insufferable as Jason Brody.
This game is fun as heck. The shield protects you from so many things, it's crazy. And you can set up the power-ups so you'll have another shield when your current is gone. The stages are hard, but the bosses are easy. Now I know why Parodius had a non-boss at the end.
Like all of these games, default Vic Viper is a piece of crap. I lost some good runs because I died and the checkpoint didn't have any power-ups nearby (Moai Heads... grumble). I read there's a way to skip the next level by beating the boss fast, but I couldn't do it.
Life Force is still my favorite of the two. The levels and music in that game are just so sweet. You respawn instantly, and you also get a few continues.

Did you play the second quest on Zelda 1?
Nah, moved on to Zelda 2, then dropped that and decided to beat Dragon Quest 1 instead.
Speaking of which - that game's one of the shortest and most simplistic RPGs you'll ever play. One character, 1v1 encounters only, and there's probably less than ten dungeons in the entire game. I played the GBC version to avoid some of the dated UI stuff. It's kind of weird how this game eventually became led to the biggest franchise in Japan. Stuff like LoZ, Metroid, and a few others seemed to do way more innovative things as games than it did. Oh well...
The fast sail is beast. WWHD fixed almost everything I dislike about the original WW. If only it had a couple extra dungeons instead of the Triforce quest...
Yeah, I guess they opted not to add the unfinished dungeons because they ended up being repurposed for other games. It's to bad because that really is the only flaw left in WWHD.
I feel conflicted about that, though; if the supposed additional dungeons were going to be more of the Wind Temple, I'd just as soon leave them out. >_>
Makar is fine, just the pacing of the dungeon itself in a general sense really turns me off. To the point where I usually just say "ohhhh man I don't have the energy for that right now" when it's next up in a playthrough. I feel like no game should have a moment where you want to power it down until next time because it's exhausting you.
Though it should be noted that while the phenomenon is contained to only one dungeon in WW, that's how I feel with literally the entirety of OoT.
