What a weirdo
Where do you guys hear about shit like this?
/v/ mostly. But the dude's infamous on the internet in general for his Sonichu comic.
red chamber dream
yeah he's been internet famous for years now
I so can't believe that he's still around and popular on the net...
I just watched a documentary about him.  poor guy
lol why didn't you just search him up in Encyclopedia Dramatica or something?
People still go to that page? It was ridden with malware last time I checked years ago, after another person took the site over when the admins wanted it gone from the net.
Apparently it's fine now.
Either way, CWC is hardly worth doing any serious research on.

What'd you say?
Quote from Poision Envy:
there's a difference between bad graphics and graphics that just look dated. Bad graphics to me at least is sit like sonic 06, where some models look okay and others are dog shit, the coloring and texturing is just lazy, constantly clipping, etc. But of course there's also games from that Era that look wonderful without being more technologically advanced, like pikmin.

Ok, this is a very important distinction, yeah. I can understand where y'all are coming from now. If the graphics do hinder gameplay and enjoyment (even if you aren't there for the graphics) then yes, it's a problem. Just because something is 8 or 16-bit, or simply not over-the-top, though doesn't necessarily mean the game is bad. On the other end of the spectrum though, it can greatly enhance the gameplay experience if the graphics are stunning. I think (hope) I get it now, thank you. I believe I simply viewed the issue too narrowly.

I'll let this dead horse lie.
I was just talking about instances where the graphics were old but didn't interfere with gameplay and looked just fine for their era, but regardless some people will deem that game as inferior simply because they feel the graphics look terrible compared to newer games.
I like turtles.
What really gets me is when people dismiss Minecraft on the face of it because of the blockiness, missing the point that the blocks are more a gameplay convention now than graphical.
Minecraft does suck.  That's why I've never played it.  :P

Minecraft actually looks pretty decent these days, with those lighting effects and shaders.

Interestingly, the whole blocky aspect was just a placeholder at first. Mojang always intended to improve on the graphics as the beta progressed. But the blockiness became iconic way before he could do that.

I don't know why I know Minecraft trivia. I've never played it before in my life.
Has anyone played either of the two LoS DLC packs?
Dood Trigger™
I haven't. I don't like those games enough to spend money on DLC... I've heard good things about them, still.

They're okayish. Fun but very short, maybe 2-3 hours apiece. They do tell the story of how and why Gabriel gets vamped though, which is completely glossed over otherwise, so if you're invested in the story that might add some value.
I am invested in the story, so please don't tell me any more details regarding story.  The price is what had me wondering if I should get them.  I totally thought I would see Gabriel vamped at the end of LoS when I finish it tonight.  $9.99 ea seems like a lot.  I should have the entire relevant story told in the main game, so it kind of sucks that I would have to pay more to get it.

I did read an interesting piece today about the main reason devs are pushing DLC so much.  They're losing too much profit to people buying used copies of the games. Like when the game is still relatively new and the gamestop employee tells you they have a used copy for $5 less than a new copy.  People buy the used one and the dev gets zero for that sale.  DLC is intended to make up for that loss.
I am excited about the final boss of LoS.  I know it's Death because the narrator mentions it at after you beat Carmilla.  He's probably my favorite CV boss and I'm excited to see this version of Death.

Yeah imo the DLC is very overpriced. I only ever played it because I got a super deluxe special edition that came with the DLC plus Mirror of Fate HD. Pretty great deal actually, I think it was ~$20 on Amazon, which is what you pay for the DLC by itself anyway.

But yeah, I completely understand the DLC situation. Although I'd put the blame less on used game sales and more on the rising cost of HD game development.

On the subject, when you get around to LoS 2, I would not recommend the DLC. It's just as short as the others, but it doesn't have any story you can't infer from the main game and the new mechanics introduced aren't given time to breathe. I was let down.

Might actually pick up Dota more seriously again, looks pretty neat. Haven't cared for Mobas in a long time though.

hahaha. I don't know what Sega is doing by using that guy as PR. It's definitely becoming a "big thing" making it's rounds now
