I have a bit of a history with Goemon's Great Adventure. Wasn't able to beat the final boss the first time I played, the second time I gave up on the last stage. Then the third time while playing with a friend we discovered a skill I hadn't known of before. That was the thing I was missing to defeat the final boss the first time I played lol

I wonder if the game even tells you of it at all if you play solo, since it's mostly a coop mechanic... (that's not necessary in solo mode until you fight the final boss :|)

I only vaguely remember the final boss, but I'm guessing you're talking about throwing the baton to switch between robots?

exactly

tha final boss has an attack that's always going to kill you unless you switch robots during its charge-up animation

Yeah, I can see how that would trip you up. I only knew to do that because I read instruction manuals religiously back then, and even I think it took a few deaths to catch on.

LoS is the bomb.  Just finished chapter 4.  I don't know why I died so much the last time I tried to play it and I have no idea why I thought I was almost finished with it the last time I played it either.  So glad I never traded this game in.

I beat Brauner on my first try.  Hey, I can pretend that someone cares, can't I?

The amount of detail put into the witcher 3 is astounding. You know a game is good when it has fast travel, but you'd rather run all the way there on horse since the landscape is so pretty and well made, and all the little secrets.

I also love that, despite how incredibly massive the world is, the landscape is generally diverse enough that you can more or less tell where you are just by the scenery.

definitely. I'm also continuously impressed with the voice acting, from some people I heard they said you should switch it to the original dub (polish I think?), but honestly I've found the English VA to be totally top notch. It might also be because I'm still in the beginning (story quest wise at least), maybe it degrades later on, but this feels miles ahead of Witcher 1 and 2.

I still feel like moving Geralt around in tight corridors and small rooms to be cumbersome, I'd sacrifice a bit of realism for being able to turn instantly in place to get around a bit easier in a tight spot (eg the way Skyrim, World of Warcraft, and most other 3rd person games handle movement). I've definitely improved at the combat though, I never have a problem now, but I am playing it on the "middle" difficulty.

Are you on patch 1.05? Movement was even worse before it, if you can believe it.

And yeah, aside from a few hiccups the VA stays great. Geralt shows more humor and personality than he ever has in the game as well; he has some of the funniest lines, which caught me by surprise.

the dialogue is much more quippy this time around. However I sunk a lot more hours into the first Witcher than I did with Witcher 2. Everyone seems to hate Witcher 1 and talks about how hard it is to get into, but maybe it was because I was playing it with a friend and we were on a mountain-dew induced gaming binge, we played it for like 12 hours straight, slept for a couple hours, went to his house, and played it more. I absolutely loved the first game. I only played Withcer 2 to about 50% completion I think.

The personality of Geralt really gets me into the mood of it. My girlfriend and I keep comparing Witcher 3 to Skyrim, both for good and bad ways. They're two vastly different games when you get into the details, and how the game feels, and a ton of it we feel is because in Skyrim you character has no personality. Witcher 3 feels more like a ROLE playing game, since you're playing the role of Geralt. In Skyrim it's more of a character-building game, you build up with gear and levels (although there's a ton of that in Witcher 3 as well).

I dont know, it's 4am, I'm just rambling, but I very rarely ever enjoy single player RPGs and this is definitely getting me my good fix. Skyrim, AC Black Flag, and this game are definitely my favorites, not counting any zeldas.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Tales of Symphonia. I felt like a change, I've always enjoyed the Tales games, and I've had a handful of them sitting on my shelf for long enough. I've just retaken the Rheiards, and now have access to flight. I've tried landing in most spots I can think of, but didn't see any obvious uber bosses or anything. Is there anything special on the world map, or is it mainly just access to the other dungeons / summons?

There's a bunch of skit points that can only be accessed by rheiard iirc but I don't think there's anything major. Maybe a sword dancer location but you need to do all those fights in order and odds are you missed one.

Marathon update:

Day 5 - Castlevania 64. Jesus, this game. I did enjoy it better than my first time through, but there's still so many baffling things here. Camera and controls especially. Played as Reinhardt.
Day 6 - X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse. I really like this and War of the Gems. Level design and bosses can be annoying but the moves are so much fun.

I don't know how you could keep going on that game.
Dood Trigger™
Exactly! Me neither.

I've been watching speedruns of it and I do think it's an interesting game... but there are just so many problems. Also, it is one of the ugliest games I've played, and this coming from someone who still drools over NES games that haven't looked good in 30 years... >_>
I like that game.

I wouldn't use it for a marathon like you did, though. Takes too long and has some potentially frustrating passages.
Is it still only available on N64?
I guess I could just google that.  Looks like I would have to emu.  I have Project64, though I haven't used it much.  Is there a better one?
red chamber dream
that's the big one afaik

Yeah, I use Project64. Runs pretty smoothly with most games.
this is a pretty good resource for any system

This is great. Thanks, BioSpark!
tasvideos is really pushing their own emulator, and afaik it works pretty well. otherwise there's always at least one good alternative for each system.
Sweet Jesus I wanted to play Castlevania64 but the rom came with a trojan downloader.  It took me like 2 hours to get rid of it and all the crap it downloaded.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
That's what you get for trying to play that game.
