Isn't that the point where the die-hard Silent Hill fans are at though?
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Quote from Toozin:
I think he's referring to the fact that the series has been pure shit since Silent Hill 3, with the exception of Shattered Memories which hardly anyone played anyway.

In my experience Shattered Memories isn't super well liked by fans either.

i know the general consensus is that shattered memories is a good, or maybe even great game. i know plenty of sh fans who love that game

So i tried out the new amiibo tap thing with the 3 that I have. Samus gave me Super Metroid, Sheik gave me Link to the Past, and Link gave me... Kirby Super Star?

You are weird, Nintendo, and your thing is weird.

I'm doing mine now.

I got Legend of Zelda for Toon Link, and Super Metroid for Link.  Why that last one?  Hmmm.

I got Super Mario Bros for Zelda, and Kirby's Adventure for Sheik.

Go home, nintendo.  You're drunk.

Between NES Remix 1 and 2 and SSB Masterpieces this thing is incredibly redundant.
I wonder how effective those tools are at selling those old vc games to new peeps.  Everyone I know that cares about those games has had them for a long time.

I know I for one already own my 3 demos and can play them on the Wii U as is.

I wish I had gotten Mach Rider. That's the only game on the list I haven't already played in some capacity. But instead of releasing demos like a sane company, they do this weird lottery. I should really stop expecting Nintendo to make sense.

Not sure if I would like skyrim.  I got to the first village and spent like two hours fucking around at the forge and at the trader.  I bought all kinds of cool stuff.  Then I wanted to try out one of my new spells so I equipped it and activated it.  Apparently it did some damage to someone sitting in the corner of the shop, because they came for me along with the whole town.  Naturally I died because I'm not even level 1 and an entire town was attacking me.  I figured as soon as I died it would put me back before they were attacking me, but no, it put right back to where they started attacking me.  So I fought.  Futile, died again.  This time I ran, also futile because they chase you and shoot you with arrows until you die.  It also keeps reminding me that I failed all of my quests as I'm dying.  I'm stuck in a futile loop, all because I just wanted to see what my new spell looked like.  Not sure I like that kind of a game.  No way I'm erasing my file and starting over.

you have all these bizarre problems with games i've never heard of happening before

Yeah Opium it sounds like it's just loading an auto-save, with extremely unfortunate/unlucky timing. There should be other auto saves in your save files though. Skyrim isn't like zelda or mario where you save over the same file again and again, you can keep making a new save file over and over. Last time I loaded up skyrim, between my waifu and I we had something like 450 save files? It numbers them in order as well, so just load the most recent one (or in your case, the one previous) and you should be fine.

Also yeah, you gotta be careful where you shoot your spells. Sounds like you equipped a fire ball and just wanted to "test" it out, but you weren't in a safe spot to do so. If it were real life, you wouldn't be shooting fireballs around other people would you? :)
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Yeah, Skyrim is like that.  I accidentally picked something up that I didn't mean to, as it was right next to what I wanted.  Then I leave, and a few steps outside town, a group of bounty hunters come and murder me, and when I eventually kill them after respawning, they're carrying a not about 'Quietus the thief'. Evil or Very Mad

Thanks.  It was an ice spell.  I couldn't believe that they wouldn't give up!  I did manage to sort of give them the slip way out in the woods, but as soon as I turned around to see if I could go back to the village they saw me and came for me again.  They were saying horrible things like "I'm gonna cut you up!".  It was actually kind of terrifying and it would never end.
I'll try to think of it in terms of real life from now on.  It's weird because in real life I don't press A to talk to people and they don't stand there and repeat shit a thousand times(well there is this one lady I work with...), so it's not really immersive on a real life level, but perhaps more so than other games.

Yeah maybe I should be a game tester?  My sweetie is very familiar with skyrim and he said in all the hours he played it, he never had that happen to him either.  He didn't know what I should do and just kept laughing at me lol.

I could be wrong, but I'm fairly sure the game forces a hard save right after you finalize the character creation at the end of that starting cave. So worst case scenario you could go back to that and not lose too much progress.

oh also if I recall, if you hold the block button and then the interact button when a person is close enough, it will initiate an attempt to get the other person to stop fighting you. At least that's how it was in Oblivion.
I need to figure out how to block.  I did it once by accident and was totally unable to repeat it.

If you're dual weilding you can't block. Otherwise you can use your free hand button to block. At least that's how it works on console.
Can't get into skyrim.

Played Paper Mario for almost 4 hours and had a blast.

So I started DmC a couple days ago... and... it's not bad...? O_O

Well, it's one giant mixed bag, but still enjoyable. The presentation and story are a disaster for the most part, especially Dante's look and personality. It feels like the game is trying to shove messages down your throat at every corner, and sometimes that happens literally (words like MEDIA and OBESITY (!) will pop on walls when the world is angry at you... no shit, that's the game's explanation for it).

The combat, which is the main attraction in these games, is okay. My main issue with DmC's gameplay is that it sucks having to hold L2 and R2 to switch weapons, and it's even worse 'cause these weapons are forced on you (certain enemies are immune to certain powers, so you have to switch often). Even during platforming, of which there is a considerable amount, you have to hold L2/R2 whenever the game wants. You're constantly telling your brain to focus on two separate concepts of control at once, because one side (L2) is mobility-oriented and the other side (R2) is strength-based. People who are pros at this game must have some insane muscle memory.

To be fair, dumb controls aside, the platforming is simple and stress-free so far (usually no enemies around), and I still find the combat entertaining when there's actual freedom to use anything you want. Rebellion feels good, and Aquila is the cheapest kind of fun, in every sense of the word (the word being cheap... it stuns and dices enemies with little effort and there's barely any cost for upgrading it).

Enemy design is average at best, but average is still better than DMC2. Unfortunately there's only like a handful of bosses in the entire game. The difficulty is pretty low (I'm playing on Nephilim, which is the highest difficulty available on a fresh file) and you're not required to figure out a lot of patterns or puzzles. Straight-forward as it gets.

I'm at Mission 15 out of 20. I'll probably finish tonight.

I agree that DmC isn't as bad as everyone says. Sure, it doesn't even come close to touching DMC3 or Bayonetta, but it's not some unholy abomination and I'd honestly probably get DmC2 if it ever came to be.

afaik it got good reviews across the board. it's only whiny teenagers on the internet who complained because they didn't like dante's new look.

but only babbies care about that ... who cares what babbies think

Well there are those with legitimate complaints about the general design. It was locked at 30fps when previous games were 60 (which has an impact on fast paced games like this), combat was simplified with easier style rankings and color coded enemies, gameplay is frequently interrupted by cutscenes and walking segments (which is a big drag for games designed around multiple plays)... Little stuff like that all adds up. The Donte crowd was easily the loudest though.

I kind of like the new design.

I don't like Dante's new design but if the game is fun to play, I don't mind. Mario doesn't exactly hit all the artistic notes either...

Finished DmC! Took me about 10 hours total.

I thought the game was glitching on the final boss (you know the part) and I had to look it up online. I could swear I'd tried DT but I must have hit the doppelganger instead of the real boss. Clutched it out with one hair of HP until I could DT again. That fight was pretty decent. I don't know how to dodge the phantom swords but they deal like no damage.

The big monster boss was possibly the QTE-est fight in the whole series, haha. Damn. That was straight out of God of War. His look and moves reminded me of Angra from God Hand.

Really not a bad game. It's not quite great either, though. I think it's pretty safe to say that this would have been better received if it had a different story and presentation (and maybe a director who's not so openly full of himself). It would still have a bunch of major flaws, but I think people would have been more forgiving of them if they were looking at classic badass Dante instead of try-hard graffiti Dante. For the record, I don't believe that's fair to the game, but it's not like they made an effort to woo us when they literally insult the entire fanbase in the first level.

Completion: I finished most missions with an A or S rank, a couple with SS and B. I found around half the collectables and beat 8 secret missions (I am holding a few keys though, including Ivory). This game's stats section is crazy detailed. It's like a debug checklist.

I'll replay the story on harder modes and maybe I'll try Vergil's DLC one of these days. Unlockable screen says Son of Sparda has different enemy placement and behavior. How different is the enemy behavior? Do they get new moves?

It's been a while but I don't remember huge differences in SoS mode. I think it's just the typical harder-enemies-show-up-earlier type thing. I think they can Devil Trigger but don't have any new moves besides that.
