I think I'm finished with xenoblade.  I'm finding that I'm forcing myself to play it and then falling asleep while I'm playing it.  I dropped my 3DS doing this.  I really have fun exploring but the 'battle system' is just not for me.  It bores the holy hell out of me. I started avoiding enemies because fighting is getting so boring, but you can only avoid them so long.  I've tried to make it more exciting by playing as any of my 5 characters or changing which 3 are in my party, but all the same principles apply, just different outfits.  There's a reason I never got into this genre. If the battle system was gone and it was an action game, I would be totally in love with it.
I like turtles.
It really sucks when you find a game you want really badly to like but it just doesn't do it for you.  Like, I'd rather have a game I simply don't like at all than one I was expecting a lot from.
It does suck.  It's happened several times with me lately and the common denominator is me.  I'm in a slump.  Maybe I will finally try skyrim.  People are comparing the new zelda-u to it a lot.

You like what you like Opi, it's no big deal. The point is to have fun after all :)
There were points in Xenoblade were I was pondering quitting the game too, but for me it was the tediumof doing quests. If the game bores you too sleep, there's not much you can do other than quit I'm afraid.

I'm trying to expand my gaming experience.  For years my main focus was replaying older games and things really passed me by.  I started to feel old and out of touch.  I even had a desire to complain about games that I hadn't even played (lol).  I think the reason I kept playing the older games is because I knew that I liked them, and I had become tired of trying (and failing) to get into the newer popular games.  I would really really like to find a new game (new to me, at least) that I love.  Maybe I'm trying too hard?

I really did enjoy Bayo1, even though it pissed me off at times.
If you're quitting games all the time, then you might be trying too hard. Nothing wrong with checking out new types of games though! I've started doing that too a few years ago and found lots of games I really liked.

But then there's a limit too how many games you can check out and play through or even purchase... at some point it's really best to keep playing what's one knows they like.
What'd you say?
Opium, I'm in that same position. Sixth generation consoles is when it started happening for me. I owned a PS2 and an Xbox. Between the two systems, I've played maybe 20 games total to this day, even though I now own over 100. Generation seven was even worse. Never touched a PS3 and have played maybe a dozen games on the 360. My experience with the current gen is simply pathetic now (3-4 games on the Wii-U, that's all, unless you count the 3DS. The 3DS doesn't expand that list much though.) I can't seem to get in to most games either and I find myself simply quitting them after very little play time as well. It's weird feeling old and disconnected at 22.

i'm only now starting to feel that with this gen. so many games coming out and i don't care about most of them

Being left behind isn't nearly as bad when you're not alone, I guess.  Thanks, I feel better now.

I am going to keep trying, but won't beat myself up so bad if it doesn't work out.  I think I will check out skyrim next.  I haven't touched Bayo2 yet, either.

Older games that I've been wanting to revisit lately are SM Galaxy 1 & 2, ALttP, Skyward Sword, Paper Mario, Metroid Fusion and ZM.  I also think I'll retry Super Mario 64 and see if I still hate the camera.

The Opana didn't help, either.

Yeah not having a current gen console isn't really bothering me much, really not missing out on anything right now.

I have to have the latest nintendo console since I'm a nintendork and they're always making at least one game that I can't live without, but I feel the same way you do about MS and Sony.  I wish I had a PS4 so I could play axiom verge, but I'm not going to get one just for that.  Besides, it's coming out on PC soon.

Wii U has somehow managed to be the good console so far this cycle. At least the only one with more than one game I actually have any interest in playing.

definitely. i'm waiting on the aaa ps4 games, but it seems like they're going to take another year or two. ;(
Played skyrim for an hour. I like it so far but I had to stop because I was getting motion sickness.

I actually got motion sickness when I was watching someone else play Skyrim because their sensitivity was all jacked and kept spining the camera around and stuff.

Have you tried changing the sensitivity?

People literally bought PS4s for just Silent Hill. You have no idea how much joy that brings me.

It's such a great time to not give a fuck about video games. :v

oh god that's fucking hilarious

I'm surprised Silent Hill is even that popular still
Club 27 Goals
yeah I mean what other games survived being popular for 15 years after only 4 huge hits and like 7 spin offs. Surprised anyone still remembers the name. I mean the same goes for Metroid amirite
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
I think he's referring to the fact that the series has been pure shit since Silent Hill 3, with the exception of Shattered Memories which hardly anyone played anyway.

Like, we should logically be at the point where we go "oh a new Silent Hill? Who cares, it will be shit" like we are with Sonic.
